IDN - India Discipleship Network

IDN assists Indian Christians and churches with training and encouragement to prepare them to tell the gospel story more effectively in India.

IDN’s goal is to support, train and encourage the people of India to carry the saving message of the cross throughout their country… and beyond. IDN helps adults and young people BE disciples and then to MAKE disciples. We partner with other ministries to provide the tools and encouragement for Indian Christians to carry out God’s mission in their own country and surrounding regions. We offer ourselves and our resources to encourage, facilitate and accelerate the work of the Indian mission. IDN’s principal goal has always been to help the Indian Christians become self-supporting, self-governing and self-propagating. Access Ministries such as the TPG Christian School, Bethany Girls Home, Brookshire Memorial Children’s Home and the Water Wells Project will continue to prepare children, youth and adults to become productive disciples in God’s Kingdom. IDN recently partnered with Missions Resource Network (MRN) to establish a Global Launch Site (GLS) in India. The churches in Bangalore have accepted the task of preparing missionaries to go into all of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal with the gospel of Christ. These native missionaries are trained in the knowledge of the Bible and exhibit the love of Christ for others. They will also confidently face persecution and possible death in the name of Jesus. A waiting list of applicants indicates that many Indian Christians are serious about their faith and willing to take the good news to their lost neighbors, even under life threatening circumstances.

Mission: India has a current population of over 1.2 billion souls, second in the world only to China and quickly becoming the most populated country on earth. This staggering number is a clear indication of the need to share God’s love with others. IDN’s goal is to support, train and encourage the people of India to carry the saving message of the cross throughout their country… and beyond. IDN helps adults and young people BE disciples and then to MAKE disciples.

Wow! What an incredible impact you have made! Through our fundraiser to provide meals for COVID-19 affected communities and preachers in Kakinada, India you have helped give us the supplies to create 3,330 meals. We are so inspired by each and every one of you. Thank you!

Agape Asia Foundation

In response to the devastating impacts of COVID-19 in India, our team leaders are working hard to feed the hungry. For only $1.50, we are able to create a lunch pack that feeds an individual and are working to distribute 400-500 meals daily to communities in need. Along with feeding the community, we are also working to care for the preachers and church workers who are not able to earn wages due to the isolation restrictions. Our hope is to begin providing these affected families with bags of rice along with some income to sustain them.
We are believing that our heavenly Father will help us equip and provide for our neighbors in India!

You can help provide a meal for the hungry or sustain a preacher in Kakinada for $1.50 per lunch pack.
We thank you for your encouragement, prayers and financial support to help those who need it most.

“I was hungry and you fed me ... but when did we see you hungry?” It’s at times like this that we learn the answers to those questions! #ichoosehope #bagsofhope #COVID19

As many of you know, COVID-19 is now impacting India. The country is in a nationwide lockdown. Our IDN partner facilities have been closed, and the children have been removed to the home of guardians to provide social distancing. Many of these families are poor day laborers and can't work so they cant buy food. With your donations, we have been able to provide food, sanitary and hygiene items, and continue to care for them. We are also able to share the love of our heavenly Father with the local communities. What great love they are living out in the communities! Today is #WorldWaterDay - a time to focus on bringing fresh clean drinking water to people without it. Nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. That’s why we’re focused on providing clean water and sanitation to the communities we serve in India. Donate now to help us provide a well and bring “living water” into their lives.

[07/18/18]   Yesterday we lost a friend and mentor. Sara Morgan Laminack went home to see Jesus. She had fearlessly battled cancer for several years, demonstrating to the rest of us how a Christian handles adversity and pain. And her smile never waned. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Trey, her two beautiful daughters, Clara and Alice, her parents, Daniel and Carol Morgan and hundreds of friends and acquaintances who watched her journey through the valley of the shadow of death with her face looking upward and her heart full of love. We will miss you Sara, but thanks for showing us how it's done so we can come to see you one day soon.

61 Baptisms so far this year by the IDN ministeries in southern India. The Borewells drilled by IDN and sponsored by private individual donors and churches such as Patton Lane Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas are a true testament to what God is Doing in India. The Bangalore Church of Christ Missions (BCCM) are actively complying with the Lord's command to "Go and make disciples of all nations..."
(Matt. 28:19)

Our progress on the addition to the Bethany Girls Home is progressing very well. We are so thankful to all of our donors and Friends of IDN who are continuing to support this capital campaign. The second story addition of the quarters for the administrative staff should be complete by early January 2018. The dormitory is also scheduled to be completed next year by the fall.

We also returned to visit Bethany where Mark Hooper, PhD. joined us. He had not visited Bethany. We reviewed the progress of the construction program and then discussed plans to improve the spiritual outcomes of the girls before completing their education at Bethany. We will assist in refining the Bible curriculum and methodology.

To date, IDN has drilled 28 borewells providing clean, safe water in southern India. According to Ray Hooper, President of IDN, "from the six wells he visited on his recent trip 61 baptisms have occured in the last year, mostly women who have come to fetch the FREE clean water. Six of those ladies have taught their husbands and they are now part of the Lord's church too".
Previously, many of the husbands had objected to their wives being baptized, because they had to "parade" down the public streets or road to a river or canal under the critical eye of the community. But now with a baptistry on church property, they allow it!
The entire community is more accepting and supportive of the church and Christians since the wells are completed and clean water is now available. The local families appreciate the service the church is providing to the community and the open acceptance (and LOVE) they exhibit. God is blessing those wells!

The Bethany Girls Home expansion is progressing very nicely, praise God!

Ray Hooper states, "the new second floor is taking shape and we are grateful for the dedication of the construction crews often having to work late into the night due to rainy weather". We all know that when working with concrete, good sunny weather is a major factor. Please pray for continued good, sunny weather, so that our construction project for The Bethany Girls Home stays on track.

All in all, though, Ray reports that IDN is producing a strong, safe second story addition to the Bethany Girls Home. Once complete, IDN will be able to accomodate an additional 50 abandoned girls there.

Until next time.......

Next, on Thursday, October 5th, Ray flew to Kochi (Cochin) Kerela to meet with an acquaintance that one of our U. S. Friends of IDN introduced us to. Kochi, also known as Cochin, is a major port city on the south-west coast of India by the Laccadive Sea. The Vembanad Rail Bridge is the longest railway bridge in India.

Mr. Hooper described his meeting and discussion with our contact in Kochi was VERY FAVORABLE!! He summed it up this way, "It was a great day"! According to Ray, the two shared a meal and he was able to update our contact on what he described as mutual interests in southern India. Can't wait for him to return for more details, and we will happily share those with you. Making connections and sharing our story is vital to gain new partnerships and collaborations.

Finally, by day's end, Ray took a flight back to Chennai, after a brief stop to refuel at KFC, yes, that's right, Kentucky Fried Chicken! Afterwards, he caught a flight and arrived back in Chennai at midnight.

Ray Hooper, President of India Discipleship Network (IDN) is back in India. He Departed on Monday, October 2nd and arrived in Bangalore safely. While there, Ray delivered 9 water filter systems to a village where safe water is not available. He also delivered 3 wireless microphone systems, courtesy of Saturn Road Church of Christ to JacobChukka, who was so happy to have them for the church services there!

To follow his voyage, we are posting pictures of Ray in Bangalore INDIA so you can share in this mission of "Being Disciples and Making Discipes". IDN is making great strides in providing access to safe, clean water wells, and water filter technology for the local villages in partnership with churches and families that IDN has worked tirelessly with in this region.

Most importantly, sharing God's message of love!
Bangalore, has a population of about 8.42 million and a metropolitan population of about 8.52 million, making it the third most populous city and fifth most populous urban agglomeration in India.

John MacArthur

During a Q&A this past Sunday evening (8/20), John MacArthur was asked about the recent protests and violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. His answer provided a biblical perspective that has been largely absent from the public discussion about Charlottesville, even in Christian circles. We trust you’ll be encouraged by what he had to say.

Recently, I attended the Dedication Service for Church of South India (CSI) Church of Dallas' new campus located at 3434 Forest Lane in Dallas. What a wonderful time of fellowship, food and prayer. Congrats to Senior Pastor Rev. (Dr.) Ninan Verghese and Pastor Sherwin on your new home.

The work of IDN in southern India is yielding such amazing results in bringing new Christians into GOD's kingdom. The Karnataka School of Preaching and Missions (KSPM), established in 2000 in Bangalore, INDIA is under the direction of Jacob Chukka. New preachers are trained and return to their hometowns and villages to start the Lord's church. Beginning in January of 2015, missionaries are also trained in KSPM-2. Jacob Chukka also oversees the IDN water wells projects in southern India and is such a valued, trusted and dedicated partner to IDN in their work to be disciples and make disciples.

IDN - India Discipleship Network

We are in prayer that you will bless this program and allow us to do more....

India Discipleship Network understands what it is like to be abandoned. Most of us will never know what it feels like to be totally rejected. We count it a special privilege to serve the physical and spiritual needs of the poor and forgotten in this great nation. Did you know that the average working American spends about $7.00 per day eating out during lunch? For about one-fourth of that, or $1.75 per day, Bethany provides safety, education, medical services, food and clothing along with spiritual growth and development for one precious abandoned girl.

How would you feel if you were born into a different society and into a family who does not want you? To them you have no value, but are considered a liability rather than an asset. This is very often the case with a baby girl born in India. Even if she survives the pregnancy and birth, she faces rejection, oppression and lives in fear every day. If she somehow survives in this environment, she can expect to be mistreated and ignored by her family and the community. She is not allowed to go to school and is required to work long hours to help support the family.

Gods’ loving commandments compel us to do what we can as Christians to help these girls. Since 2005, the Bethany Girls Home has provided a safe and loving place for girls to grow up experiencing the compassion of God and those who serve Him. Each girl sees God's love in the lives of dedicated Christians who provide for her needs and for her future. She learns about the mercy and grace of God who gave His Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for everyone….AND HE CARES FOR HER.

Currently, the Bethany Girls Home houses 52 girls from ages 6 to 16. Recently, the Indian Central Government divided the state of Andhra Pradesh (AP) into two states. The exististing capitol remained with the newly created state, Telangana. That left AP without a capitol city. The chosen site for a new capitol city is about 25 miles from Bethany. The highway system to serve the new city requires the land now occupied by Bethany. We must relocate and need your help to raise funds for land acquistion and the construction of a new Bethany Girls Home. This new Bethany will be expanded to house 100 girls rather than the current 52, and will include living quarters for the administrators and staff.

Here’s how you can help us to reach our fundraising goal. IDN is pleased to launch our first ceramic, commemorative coin that gives you a way to help us financially in many of the retail purchases you already make. For a donation of $25.00 per coin and by registering it, you will have a unique account so that when you shop at participating online retail stores, a percentage of your purchase is donated to IDN. You can use your IDN commemorative coin to purchase with a purpose-from Restaurant.com gift certificates, to BestBuy, Wal-Mart, Target, Auto Zone, Marc Jacobs, Coach and Macy’s online stores. These are just a few of the retailers who are participating in the IDN commemorative coin program.
