Waterford Baptist Church is more than a historical building. It has always been a congregation, a gathering of committed believers in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Even before the physical building was completed on the current site in 1853, Baptists were gathering in local homes for Bible study and worship. The Civil War disrupted worship in the building in 1862 with a battle that actually happened within the walls of the church (recorded on historical markers at the church) but the church still gathered. Throughout its history the Church has experienced peaks and valleys to include: economic depression; declining membership; a Christmas fire that heavily damaged the sanctuary, but the Church continued to be blessed with the dedication and commitment of "gathering believers." Still more than a building, the Church gathers for Bible study, worship, prayer and fellowship. We invite you to visit our historical surroundings and experience Church with us as we continue to respond to God's good grace. Located at 15545 High St., Waterford VA 20197
