Father's House Fall Retreat 2018

Thank you to students, alumni, and parents for joining us at our Parent's & Alumni Weekend Vigil Mass on Saturday.

It was wonderful to witness our Newman community together again. Even GW Catholics President Victoria Abril had the chance to reunite with five former presidents!

“Seek is a beautiful opportunity to see young people on fire for their faith. You can really see how everyone really wants to learn so much more about their faith. It’s a truly amazing experience as you will definitely see Jesus alive within the youth.”

Eliza is one of the missionaries for GW Catholics. In 2015, she was studying at Harvard and she went to Seek in Nashville. It was a huge turning point in her faith and it was her first confession since 5th grade. She really started to understand more about the reality of her faith and of Jesus. She believes it is a great way for students to give God a chance to speak to their hearts away from the craziness of every day life.

"I was really scared, I was afraid because I didn’t know a lot of people. Don’t be afraid, you’ll be getting to know a lot of other people. But you’ll also get to know God more and it’s worth it to go. Even if you don’t want to go for religious purposes and you just want to get a break from being in the city, that’s good. But don’t be afraid. Mary said yes and you should too."

Alex de Roos opens up about her first experience with the Father's House Fall Retreat. Registration closes tomorrow, sign up now at the link in our bio!

“I’m hoping to deepen that understanding that I got from last year. How do I live my life with this knowledge of God the Father? If I’m already aware of this, then what do I do with it?”

Matt Gilmore shares some of the questions he is bringing into this year's Father's House Fall Retreat on November 2-4. It is the perfect time to relax and reflect amidst hectic midterms. Sign up by October 23 at

[10/21/18]   Alumni, come to Mass and see our new Chapel on Saturday, October 27 at 5 PM! Reception to follow. We hope you can join us for this great celebration on Colonials Weekend!

"Father’s House Retreat means a break from school, being outside, and also a break from technology because the place doesn’t have nice cell service. It means immersing myself in my faith, more than just however much time I can allow during school."

Sophomore Alex de Roos talks about escaping the hustle and bustle of midterm season at Father's House Fall Retreat. The last day to sign up is October 23, check out the link in our bio!

"Give Father's House a chance because you never know what situations God is going to use in your life to let you know about His presence and what He wants from you. And so when a situation comes up like this where the opportunity is ripe for the taking to get to know God the Father, I suggest you take it."

Junior Matt Gilmore shares some words of wisdom about the Father's House Fall Retreat. Come join us November 2-4! Last day to reserve your spot is October 23, and you can sign up online at

This month, GW Catholics sent 11 pilgrims to Italy to experience a week-long faith-building experience. Each student, though innately different, were united by a common desire to learn more about their Catholic faith through adventure, study, and friendship.

Jennifer Meehan was one of these pilgrims who took the time to share with us her experience and testimonial on this trip: "Coming on this trip, I was nervous. Although I was uncertain about what to expect, I was incredibly excited to experience Italy, and looking back I am grateful that I was brave enough to take the chance. Not only do I have deeper authentic connections with other people in my life, but I have discovered how to truly love others and build my relationship with Christ even more. Thank you to all those who invested time and prayers into this trip, you provided us with an experience I know at least I will cherish for the rest of my life. I hope anyone considering a pilgrimage or a trip to grow in your faith will take the chance, much like I did, to open your hearts to love and to respond to this call to action to learn more about the faith that we proclaim daily. Io amo l’Italia."

We are thrilled to welcome 2 NEW FOCUS missionaries joining us in the District this fall - Ben and Lauren - and to have Brendan and Eliza back at GW. FOCUS-The Fellowship of Catholic University Students is a Catholic-outreach organization that brings the faith to 125 campuses across the 🌎!

We are excited to welcome 2 #FOCUS missionaries to our GW Catholics community and to the District. To learn more about FOCUS and how to get involved with the FOCUS-The Fellowship of Catholic University Students:
