Don Cook shared a link. I'm posting this a little earlier than normal. I know that we sometimes get caught up in decorating and hiding eggs on Easter but with all the things going on in our world today I wanted to give you more time to share with your kids the miracle of Easter. The resurrection of Jesus is the event that separates Christianity from all the other world religions. We get to worship and serve a risen Savior. No other religion can make that claim. God loves us so much that He gave up His only Son to die on the cross for our sins. WOW -- think about that. As a parent or grandparent let that sink in. The last minute or so of this video does a great job of expressing why Jesus came to earth. I hope you have a great Easter and I am anxiously praying and waiting for the time when we can come together as a church family and celebrate together the fact that we worship a risen Savior. Here are some discussion questions for your family: 1) Who is Jesus (0:11) 2) What did Jesus do while on earth? (0:25) 3) Who was the Roman ruler and what did he do? (1:48) 4) What did the soldiers do to Jesus? (2:25) 5) Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? (3:20) 6) How many days did Jesus stay in the tomb? (4:00) 7) What were some of the reasons why Jesus came to earth? One last thing parents: We were planning on doing a church-wide Easter egg hunt but our plans had to change. Tomorrow morning check the Olivet Children Ministry page and Preschool ministry page. We are putting together an Olivet Easter egg hunt with a little twist. Hope you enjoy it. If you would like to purchase this video for use in your church,
Are there Sermon Notes for this Sunday, April 5th?
Hey guys. I miss my church family. I can't wait until we can meet together again in our small groups. We as a staff have been praying for a way to get families to spend time together in God's Word. I didn't know this is how He would do it but He has a plan and He is in control. This week I'm giving you some additional resources to use with your family. Go to digitalpass.lifeway.com. Set up an account and then find the Lifeway Kids at Home or the Lifeway Preschooler at Home depending on the age of your children. It seems to be easier from a computer (using Foxfire or Chrome)than a phone. Once you get into that area you can find this week's Sunday School lesson for your kids along with worksheets for your Preschoolers and Children. If you cannot print out the worksheets, please let me know and I can mail them to you. The lessons do not come out until Thursday night but you can always wait until you get printed worksheets and then log on to their lesson. I also want you to spend some time on this site. If you scroll to the bottom of the main page, you see "View All Content". Click here and then explore the titles under the "Free" heading. There are some really good movies for your children to watch. (think "after school specials") There are also Bible studies for adults and some movies for adults. I will still put the Saddleback Kids video that reinforces Scott's sermon up on Sunday.
Hey Parents and Grandparents -- I just wanted to give you some way to spend some time today with your younger children and grandchildren. During unsettling times, we need to teach our children that God's Word is consistent and therefore a source of comfort. I don't know when life will return to normal or what will happen tomorrow but I know that God will remain the same, He always has and always will. Kids need to see us, the adults in their lives, as sources of strength and comfort. Preschoolers and younger children may have questions about all that is going on. My advice is always to determine the real question they are have and answer it honestly and age appropriately. Love on your kids, find some fun activities to do with them (its okay to get a little dirty, God made them washable) and spend this additional time as a family to celebrate all that God has given us. Here are some simple questions to ask your children as you watch together. It is always okay to 'go deeper' if your child is ready but enjoy the time together this morning. 1) Who was Lazarus? (0:25) 2) Who were Mary and Martha? (:38) 3) Why did Lazarus get sick? (:057) 4) Who did Jesus say He was? (2:35) 5) Why did Jesus pray out loud? (4:25) 6) Why was Lazarus so happy? (4:40) 7) Ask your kids to tell you the story they just heard. (It's always amazing to me that kids remember and what they find important in these stories) Have fun today and if we can pray with your or if your family has needs, do not hesitate to reach out to your church family. You have the opportunity to support an absolutely stellar lineup of some of the most exceptional people in Christian rock today. They will be in your area July 25th. These bands make an impact on people. These bands change lives. I know for sure because I am one of them. Someone in your congregation or someone in one of their social circles could be impacted by this show if you spread the word. Some of us find Jesus at the front of that stage before we find him in the church. Please tell your congregation and youth group about this concert. I personally recommend supporting these amazing people. Event info can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/662322094210862/?ti=icl
Church and choir, lets all pray for Matt Crook this week! Without him, our leader, we couldn't put on the Promise and I know he is going through a lot getting this put together for us. Lift him up every day this week! So thankful for his leadership!
OBC family, Vacation Bible School is coming soon!! PLEEEEASE let me know if you can help sooner than later! You all are awesome!
I need prayers for my nieces' mother in law. She is in critical condition. Her name is Jane Knepper. thank you.
We had a great worship service last night in the new auditorium as we gathered to pray and write scripture on the floor. As carpenters showed up this morning to finish the stage, they read all the verses before they started work. If you were there last night you saw that they had done a whole lot of work but still had lots to do. That being said, we are pushing back the first service in the auditorium back to December 2. There are lots of reasons for making this decision but suffice it to say that we wanted to be 100% ready with everything in great working order. Pray that God work in and through OBC.

Jesus Forgives Peter

Hey Parents ---

We are entering week 3 of not meeting together on campus as the Church. I hope and pray that you and your families are doing well. Today's video deals with Peter denying Jesus three times and the forgiveness Jesus gave Peter. There are some really important lessons to learn here about how God still uses us even when we mess up. It is truly amazing that we get to worship a God who is merciful and forgiving. Here are some simple questions that you can ask your preschooler or younger child. Having them re-tell the story to you is another opportunity for you reinforce the important parts of this story from the Bible.

1. What was Peter's job when he met Jesus? (0:17)

2. How many times did Jesus say that Peter would say he didn't know Jesus? (1:07)

3. Why did Jesus and the Disciples go to the Mount of Olives? (1:15)

4. What did Peter do to try to protect Jesus? (2:00)

5. When standing by the fire, how many times did Peter say he didn't know Jesus? (2:27, 2:52, 3:20)

6. How many fish did Peter and his friends catch during the night? (4:05)

7. What did Jesus tell Peter and his friends to do and what happened? (4:24)

8. While eating breakfast, what did Jesus ask Peter? (5:00, 5:15, 5:24)

9. What did Jesus tell Peter to do? (5:09, 5:20, 5:37)

I hope that enjoy today's lesson. For other opportunities for your children I can recommend two sites. The first is put out by Lifeway Christian Resources (they publish our weekly curriculum) at digitalpass.lifeway.com and look at the Preschooler at Home and the Children at Home options. The second site is a new Olivet site: Olivet Preschool Tulsa, Ok. Lindsay does a great job of teaching today's SS lesson.

If you need something or know of someone who is need, please let us know in the church office. We want to help you in this time of need. I pray that we can be back meeting together soon.

Peter denied Jesus 3 times, but he was forgiven because Jesus is merciful. This Bible story is based on text from Matthew 26:31-35, John 18:15-27, and John 2...
