theAbrar

The Abrar is a mosque and a second home for Muslims from different nationalities and backgrounds where no one ethnic group monopolizes the masjid.

theAbrar is our second home. It's a place to worship Allah and develop brotherhood and sisterhood. A cool place to have a cup of tea and hang out with friends. It's a hub for social events and activities, for both adults and youngsters.

Jumuah Khutbah- Lessons from the life of the Prophet PBUH

Br. Muztahid Kaiser

10/18/2021

On the authority of Umm Ma‘bad ‘Atikah bint Khalid al-Khuza‘iyyah (ra) who said:

’I saw a man of visible radiance and purity, beautiful appearance, bright faced, with neither protruding ribs nor a small head, handsome and fair. His eyes were deep black and large, and his eyelashes were lush. His voice was mellow and soft. The whiteness of his eyes was bright and his pupils were very black. His eyebrows were beautifully arched and connected. His neck was long, his beard densely full. When he was silent, he appeared dignified. When he spoke, he was eminent and crowned with magnificence. His speech was sweet, his words precise, neither too little nor too much. Like a string of pearls flowing down gradually.

He was the most striking and beautiful of people when seen from afar and the fairest of them when seen up close. He was medium height, neither unagreeably tall nor scornfully short; a branch between two branches. Among the three he was the most radiant in appearance, the finest of them in stature. He was surrounded by companions. When he spoke, they listened attentively. When he gave orders, they hastened to fulfil them. Honoured, served and surrounded by followers. He neither frowned, nor criticised’.

[Al-Baihaqi and al-Hakim]

{Surely, Allah and His angels send blessings to the Prophet. O you who believe, do pray Allah to bless him, and send your Salām (prayer for his being in peace) to him in abundance}. QURAN 33:56

Asalamu Alikom Dear Sisters,
Join us next Saturday for an end of summer sisters gathering and picnic. We have a lot to celebrate this summer as a community, and a lot to be proud of. We paid off our debt, many of our youth daughters graduated high-school and some from college, three of our dear sisters gave birth, and a dear sister got married. This is a great chance to see one another, congratulate our fellow sisters and strengthen the community ties between us. It is also an opportunity for our children to bond and to create lifetime masjid friends. All sisters and children are welcome.
After we wrap up this event and this beautiful month of August, we will inshallah get ready for our weekend school, once we launch the weekend school, we will inshallah resume our sisters ESL class and Quran class.
We love you, we appreciate you, and we cannot make a community without your support and your presence. We've built the walls together, now we need to make our community united and stronger then ever. We hope to see you all ⚘

08/13/2021

Narrated by Abu Hurairah RA:
Allah's Messenger ﷺ mentioned the day of al-Jumu'ah and then said, "There is a time in it )Friday( at which no Muslim would stand up while praying and beg Allah, Who is Great and Glorious, for something except that He would give it to him. He ﷺ indicated with his hand that it )this time( is short." [Agreed upon Hadith].

[07/19/21]   The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best invocation is that of the Day of Arafat, and the best that anyone can say is what I and the Prophets before me have said:Lā 'ilāha 'illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu wa huwa `alā kulli shay'in qadīr.None has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things.

Our Story

The Abrar prides itself on the fact that no one ethic group monopolizes the mosque/masjid. We see that as a strength not as a weakness. We are one of the few mosques/masjids in NYC that is so diverse. The Abrar is home to immigrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Morocco, Algeria, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Mali, and Yemen, to name just a few. Most of them came with the intent to move back home, but have come to the realization that they will be staying in the U.S. and have children and grandchildren that were born here. The Abrar is a convert-friendly mosque/masjid. We are honored to have a growing convert community from different backgrounds. Dominican, Puerto Rican, Greek, Jamaican, African American and many other ethnic groups and nationalities. We are a very diverse community and we are proud of that, we represent the true brotherhood/sisterhood of Islam, everyone here feels that the Abrar is their second home because everyone is treated equally with respect and love regardless of their skin color, age, gender, or nationality, We are all brothers and sisters here, we treat one another by the Islamic manners and Islamic teachings, we honor our country (America) and are committed to be the best in our community and the best representatives of Islam! May Allah guide us and accept from us.
