Please keep my friend Bridgett Story in your prayers. She is going in for surgery tomorrow. She will have a hysterectomy and a tumor removed from her ovaries. Please pray it all goes well.
I'm asking for prayer for my daughter Kristinna Sanchez. This is the latest update that I am sharing as follows: Well, this pretty much confirms it. I have a dopamine excreting pheochromocytoma which is most likely either in my spine, neck, or chest. I have MIBG scans on the 21st and 22nd to locate the tumor or tumors that is causing my high blood pressure spikes. After they/it is found, I’ll have a very high risk surgery to remove them scheduled. This is a very rare condition and I’m afraid. I knew there was something else wrong other than just all the sudden high blood pressure. So please keep our family in your prayers.
It was so good to be back ‘Home’ this morning for service. The praise team was wonderful. We always enjoy Bro. Glenn’s message. We love y’all. Thank you for the prayers that have gone up for my family. See y’all again soon!

A Little about NLT: At New Life Tabernacle our passion is to provide a place where people just like you can have a life-changing experience with God. Our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. We are a life-giving, multicultural church and our goal is to infuse life and God's love into people and families through engaging, powerful worship services that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways. Together, we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we'd like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time. Get ready for Raise The Roof Sunday!

[05/02/20]   I came across this New Year's Post and it seemed rather relevant (especially in this unprecedented season) so I wanted to share and hopefully encourage someone today!😀
There is something in the air of Newness at the change of a year. New life as spring approaches, new Hopes for a better future, new determination to start again fresh...new. However, so many times the New wears off. Kind of like that new pair of sneakers. At some point they went from new to old and worn. It didn't happen overnight but little by little stains began to appear, your cautiousness became lax, and before you know it your "new" Sneakers became your "yard work" shoes.
We all generally approach the new year with optimism and new vision and hope. It just seems that while we have the best of intentions, we quickly fall back into old habits and systems of operation to which we were accustomed. Then by December 31st we've worn out the old year and desperately reach for the new. Only what would happen if we allowed the Holy Spirit to get involved in a greater way than ever before? Instead of taking the New Year and using it the same way we always have, what if we take our new start, our new hope, new intentions, and new opportunities to Jesus? What if we asked Him how to best steward the potential of this coming year? Would our live change? You better believe it! Friends, I want to encourage you to reach into His presence and go into this new decade having prayed through and over your past, having released others wrongs in forgiveness, having laid down old systems that really don't work and habits that hold you back and streach forward to God's powerful purpose for your future. He says, "Behold I Am He who makes all things new!" We must have His guidance to see the growth and newness He wants to bring! So New Life Like Never Before? Yes By (and only by) God Yes!

Don't miss Your New Life Livestream Service this evening! BIG announcements to come!😀😀😀😀😀🙌🙌🙌🙌

Constitutional Law

As a matter of US constitutional law (which I studied in law school), the government does have the right to enact measures for health and safety. Thus, churches must follow building, fire, and health codes. Governments routinely shut down meetings, including church services, that violate these safety regulations. It can't discriminate against churches, and it must use the least restrictive means possible. If it passes ordinances of general applicability based on professional medical advice for the safety of the community, it is presumptively constitutional. Some states have gone the second mile to treat churches with extra respect, but they are still asking churches to cooperate voluntarily. They have both the law and public opinion on their side when they do.

We shouldn't question anyone's motives if they try to have church, and we shouldn't attack them. However, that doesn't mean their actions are constitutional, legal, wise, advisable, or divinely ordained. We shouldn't rejoice if they suffer consequences, but the burden of civil disobedience is to accept consequences. The burden of not following medical advice is either to have superior medical knowledge or to trust God. However, it is one thing to trust God for yourself, but it is another thing to take the responsibility for the entire community, including vulnerable people.

For those who believe they must have large gatherings in order to please God, I would suggest that they think more creatively. While I endorse large crowds & buildings (having built a congregation of up to 1,000 and a building of 100,000 SF); we cannot say this method is biblically required. I agree that this method is highly effective, and over the long term I want to find ways to resume this method. But in times of crisis (war, pandemic, persecution, natural disaster), we can use other methods, even as the apostolic church did in times of persecution. In doing so, we aren't violating God's Word, becoming cowards, or acting in unbelief. We are operating outside our modern, traditional, Western box.

Finally, we are right to be concerned about religious liberty. Some might want to use this situation for a future precedent, but we will fight against that idea if it surfaces, and we will have the Constitution on our side. Right now, we aren't facing religious persecution in this situation, and we shouldn't characterize it as such. If we do, and then we lose, that could become a negative precedent. We must be vigilant to protect our freedom, but we must choose our battles wisely.

The Church and the Law

I originally posted the following information on social media. Because of requests, I am including it in this newsletter with minor revisions.

As a matter of US law, the government has the right to enact measures for health and safety. Thus, churches must follow building, fire, and health codes. The government sometimes shuts down meetings, including church services, that violate these safety regulations. It can’t discriminate against churches, and it must use the least restrictive means possible to accomplish its valid purpose. An ordinance of general applicability, based on professional medical advice for the safety of the community, is presumptively constitutional. Some jurisdictions have commendably treated churches with special respect, but they are still asking churches to cooperate voluntarily. They have both the law and public opinion on their side when they do.

We shouldn’t attack anyone if they try to have church, but that doesn’t mean their actions are legal, wise, or divinely ordained. We shouldn’t rejoice if they suffer consequences, but the burden of civil disobedience is to accept consequences. The burden of not following medical advice is either to have superior medical knowledge or ask God to intervene. However, it is one thing to trust God for oneself; it is another thing to take the responsibility for the entire community, including vulnerable people.

For those who believe they must have large gatherings in order to please God, I suggest that they think more creatively. While I endorse large crowds and buildings (having built a congregation of up to 1,000 and started a building of 100,000 square feet), we can’t say this method is biblically required. This method is highly effective, and over the long term we want to resume it. But in times of crisis such as war, pandemic, persecution, and natural disaster, we can use other methods, even as the apostolic church did in times of persecution. In doing so, we aren’t violating God’s Word, becoming cowards, or acting in unbelief. We are operating outside our modern, traditional, Western box.

Finally, we are right to be concerned about religious liberty. Some might want to use this situation for a future precedent to limit church activity, but we will fight against that idea if it surfaces, and we will have the Constitution on our side. Right now, we aren’t facing religious persecution in this situation, and we shouldn’t characterize it as such. If we do, and then we lose the argument, that itself could become a negative precedent. We must be vigilant to protect our freedom, but we must choose our battles wisely.

[04/22/20]   New Life Members Update on COVID 19 Executive Order.

I spoke to Judge Bobby Howell's office this morning about the changes from Governor Abbott and here are the regulations for Bowie County until at least April 30th.

The Shelter in place order stands until at least April 30th. The only changes made to churches are the ability to host a parking lot service.

If you choose to host a parking lot service you can with the following restrictions.

All windows must remain closed,

Only ride/sit in cars with members of your house hold,

No intermingling or exiting cars,

and no public use of restrooms (to avoid further contact).

Praise team and musicians must maintain social distance of 6 feet minimum.

Also, (as the cars are closed we would have to purchase a transmitter for each person to tune into the service via their car radios)

Please take the time to read up on the constitution and your rights as a citizen and Christian. We have posted a phenomenal article written by David K. Bernard (who is very educated and has a law degree). It is VERY informative and well worth your time to educate yourself on the facts.

We are complying to the current order given by our local officials for the health and safety of the wonderful people we are called to serve. Thank you for your expression of Love and Christian patience as we move into the home stretch of this pandemic.

We will discuss future services/parking lot services with the elders and church board to determine our future course of action. Please stay tuned as we communicate any changes and progress. Looking forward to the day we can all worship together in person again!

God Bless,

Pastor Glenn
