ADAMS Ashburn CEP celebrated their Community Service day by making nearly 100 care kits for the less fortunate in Washington DC. Thanks to Principal Sr Shahina and their PTO.
This would not have been possible without our amazing volunteer, Sr Yohana and everyone else. Due to their efforts it has allowed ADAMS Community Service leaders, Ehsan and Nausheen Baig, be able to be a part of something that’s brought joy to those who’ve received it.

ADAMS Head of Outreach Hurunnessa Fariad conducted the first of many cultural sensitivity classes ADAMS will be offering public school teachers and staff in the area. She talked about the 5 pillars of Islam, Islamic history, issues American Muslim students are dealing with in school such as bullying, prayer accommodations, Ramadan flexibility, test schedules, hijab, etc and coming up with solutions with the school staff.

Assalam Alaykum Dear ADAMS Community

It is with great pleasure that we would like to announce the appointment of Syed Omair as Deputy Youth Imam. Imam Omair is coming to us most recently from the Fawakih Institute where he was a lead instructor and curriculum developer. At Fawakih, Imam Omair taught up to 70 students per term and organized summer and winter intensives. Imam Omair has a unique educational background with a BA in Religious Studies from Stony Brook College and then seven years of Islamic studies training in Amman, Jordan where he learned various Islamic sciences, such as Qur'an recitation, aqida and fiqh.

Imam Omair was highly recommended by several community members who emphasize his knowledge, character and dedication.

Shaykh Suheil Laher states that Imam Omair "demonstrates a genuine concern for students' well-being and willingness to voluntarily put in extra time to help them above and beyond the call of duty". Similarly, from a mosque in San Diego which Imam Omair used to attend, Sister Alia Usman notes "Besides his vast knowledge on Islam, Br. Omair exemplifies a beautiful character and amazing Islamic manners. He is genuinely interested in the betterment and the well-being of our youth. Honestly, I can't think of a person better suited to be a role model for our youth."

In his application, Imam Omair expressed a desire to help Muslim American youth navigate their identities and balance between the various cultures that they are a part of. In particular, Imam Omair states that his goal is "to create a masjid which is a beacon for Islam as a tradition of knowledge and spiritual rectification that transcends borders, nationalities, and cultures while uniting its members in the love of Islam and the ummah." Both the Executive Committee and ADAMS Youth Task Force were impressed with Imam Omair's application, organization, and willingness to adapt to the specific needs of the ADAMS community and its Youth.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the Executive Committee (Br. Ahsanullah, Br. Sohel, Sister Sanober, Br. Mir and Br. Farooq) and the Board appointed ADAMS Youth Task Force (Ehsan Baig, Rabia Baig, Misbah Javaid, Wakar Khan, Hasna Rizwan, Mohamad Samantar, Omar Yousuf, and Sara Yousuf) for reviewing applications and interviewing candidates. I would also like to the thank the Imam's Office, Imam Magid and Shaykh Abdurrafa, for their valuable input and advice.

Please join me in welcoming Deputy Youth Imam
Syed Omair ([email protected]).

ADAMS Condemns Terrorist Hate Attack on Two New Zealand Mosques

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) is outraged, saddened and sickened by the terrorist hate crime in two New Zealand Mosques that killed 49 people and injured 20. We condemn this despicable and cowardly act. New Zealand Law Enforcement Agencies have captured 4 suspected terrorists and we call for absolute justice in prosecuting these heinous terrorist criminals.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the New Zealand Muslim community, and all New Zealanders during this awful time. For this to happen in a house of Worship is especially appalling. We have seen too many instances of vicious attacks in Mosques, Synagogues, Temples, Churches and other Houses of Worship, and it is time to say, "No More!".
Please support the New Zealand Muslim community victims and families - https://www.launchgood.com/project/support_for_the_families__victims_of_the_new_zealand_mosque_shootings#!/
We appreciate all the support and solidarity of Many Faith Leaders, Government Officials, and Law Enforcement. ADAMS will be holding a Vigil this evening Fri Mar 15th 7pm-9pm at ADAMS Sterling - 46903 Sugarland Rd, Sterling, VA 20164. Faith Leaders and Government Officials will be giving remarks.
In 2015-2017 over 160 Mosques in the USA were attacked and dozens of Muslims were killed in alleged or confirmed hate crimes. In Jan 30, 2017, a White Nationalist terrorist murdered 6 Muslims at Quebec City Islamic Cultural Centre, and in January of this year 3 men and 1 teenager were alleged to be planning to bomb a Muslim community in upstate New York. Synagogues, temples and other Houses of Worship have faced similar depraved acts. There are too many such horrific attacks to even list here.

Once again, we urge a swift Law Enforcement response to this hate crime terrorism, as well as proactive measures to better protect all countries' citizens. We also urge an immediate end to the intemperate language, vicious verbal attacks and false accusations by those who seek to divide our nation, and which encourages those who see violence as an acceptable way to express their views.
All our leaders and those in positions of public responsibility should stand in solidarity with their Muslim and all other minority communities, and thereby send a clear message that hateful intimidation or crimes against any community, here and around the world, must never be tolerated. We urge all Americans to share the empathy, kindness, and good will that has marked our nation throughout our history, and our traditions of tolerance and acceptance of all groups in our nation.
