[03/18/20]   My fellow congregants,

At this time, in coordination with the Rabbi and our Board of Trustees, we have regretfully decided to suspend all events and services at Temple Emanu-El for the next four weeks in light of public safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This means that there will be no Morning Minyans, Friday or Saturday night Shabbat services, or Yom Tov services on Passover.

We are in the process of planning online learning classes to be hosted by Rabbi Sussman and will provide more details once they are available.

If you have any questions about observing Judaism during these trying times, please contact Rabbi Sussman by email at [email protected] or by calling the Temple Office at (718) 442-5966.

Thanks for your understanding. We pray for a swift resolution to this pandemic.

Jeff Novick
Temple President

[03/13/20]   Services will be held this week on Friday night and Saturday morning, as usual. Everyone should observe anti-virus precautions such as:

frequent hand-washing for at least 20 seconds -- soap is in our restrooms and hand sanitizer is available in the Synagogue and Social Hall.

Social distancing -- maintaining a distance of approximately four feet from other people
refraining from handshaking and other physical contacts.

Those who are particularly susceptible should pray at home.

On Friday night, Rabbi will conduct special prayers for the community facing this health crisis.

The Parsha we read this Shabbat is Ki Tisa, and the maftir will be the special reading for Shabbat Parah, one of the special readings in the weeks before Pesach.

On Saturday morning, the Yiddish Round Table will meet after Kiddush.

Kiddush on March 14 is sponsored by Jeff Novick in honor of Renee’s birthday.
