Please PRAY for Charmaine's healing from her cancer, and if you can, please donate to her GoFundMe page so that she can pay her rent while having cancer treatment. Here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-hope-and-home-for-charmaine

It's been a while since I posted an update about my #Deaf friend Charmaine. We give thanks to God and to all of you who donated to help us reach $10,000, but you can see we increased our fundraising goal to $20,000. We are asking for twice your prayers as well. Why the increased goal? A lot has happened. Please read more below or by visiting her GoFundMe page and seeing the latest posted update.

In March, Charmaine’s health insurance through the state of New York changed, which stopped her cancer treatments because her doctors and treatment were not covered under the new insurance. At the same time, the Corona Virus hit, and Charmaine has been in a lot of pain and unable to work.

Charmaine had no treatment from March until June. Charmaine has now finally started treatment again, but those 3 months without treatment caused her cancer to grow, spread and get worse. When she was able to get onto a new insurance, Chamaine learned the bad news that her cancer spread on her liver. There used to be 2 spots on her liver, now there are 3. That is why she has been feeling so much pain. One previous spot was 0.3 and now it is over 4.

With the Corona Virus pandemic spreading, Charmaine’s son Daniel told his mom that because of her compromised immune system it was not safe for her to go out to work, to stores or anywhere because of COVID-19. This left Charmaine stuck inside her apartment, feeling alone and in a lot of pain, without treatment for her cancer and without any source of income. She texted, “It gets to me. I can't do anything; I am just stuck here.”

Even through the pain, Charmaine has had to focus saving her home because she did not have enough money for her monthly rent. Although she tried to find help for her housing situation, she said that the ideas we shared would not help, but she was still thankful for all our suggestions.

This past Friday (July 10th), Charmaine texted, “I hate feeling like this. I tried to go to work and had to come right back home. I felt like I was going to pass out.”

From her texts (which you can read in the posted update on her GoFundMe page) you can see two things. First, Charmaine is in a lot of pain and asking and pleading for prayers. We trust God and know that her recovery is in God’s hands. Second, Charmaine is very grateful. You can see from her texts again and again how she is thankful in all things. Her eyes are on Jesus, and her faith is strong.

Charmaine still desperately needs your help. Please pray that God will take away her pain and cancer and heal her. Remember that in the middle of this life-threatening cancer and intense pain, Charmaine is still worried about the threat of eviction and losing her home. No one with stage 4 cancer and the pain Charmaine is in should have to try to pull herself to work, but she is trying her best so she can save her home.

Can you help? Please donate so Charmaine does not have to worry about her home and so she can just focus on her health?

Here is the link to Charmaine’s GoFundMe page where you can donate:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-hope-and-home-for-charmaine

If you have already given, THANK YOU! Would you consider giving again?

If you have not given yet, please do so now.

Either way, please pray for Charmaine and for God’s healing. Please share this with your network for their prayers.

As a reminder:
HOW CAN YOU HELP?

1) GIVE whatever you can. No donation is too small
2) SHARE on social media - use the hashtag #Hope4Charmaine
3) EMAIL this page - gofundme.com/help-hope-and-home-for-charmaine - to your family and friends.
4) PRAY that it is not too late to save Charmaine’s home and for her to beat this cancer

Thank you for all that you do, and please stay safe in these strange times. Wash your hands, stay 6 feet away from others, follow recommended health and safety guidelines and check in on each other by email, text, video phone, phone or any way that you can.

Thank you and May God bless you all.

Please read, respect and follow these guidelines for when the church is reopened to stay safe:

• Wear a mask. Please come wearing a mask to protect yourself and other people from spreading the disease.

• Maintain social distancing. Please be considerate and remain six feet apart from other people. Sadly, there should be no hugging and no handshakes.

• Sit every other pew. The church pews (benches) will be marked so that you can sit in every other row to encourage social distancing and prevent the spread of the virus.
