Hey, my parents are in this photo! 2nd and 3rd from upper left! Mom in black hat.
This morning I had the honor of blessing a newly finished sidewalk here in the Diamond Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. This sidewalk is highly significant for everyone here but particularly for residents with mobility challenges who can now access the neighborhood much more freely and safely. Here is a post about it with some photos from the Saint Aidan's blog:

Today is the Feast Day of Aidan of Lindisfarne, after whom our parish is named. In addition to being the patron of Northumbria, Aidan is known as the patron saint of firefighters. He is often depicted holding a bright torch aloft (or holding a book, as in our icon of him), and the side of our beloved building is painted with a multicolored flame in his honor. On this day as massive fires in California continue to rage, please pray for all who are displaced, all who are in harms way, and especially all who are striving to protect the communities, the land, all the living breathing things that we hold so dear. As part of our prayer, may we listen with gratitude and humility to the wisdom of the indigenous communities who have stewarded this, their unceded land, for thousands of years, who knew and worked with what Don Hankins in the article linked below calls "the law of fire."

https://baynature.org/art.../reading-the-landscape-for-fire/

"To lose the world to fire is an unfathomable experience: the basic necessities of life nowhere to be found as far as the eye can see. The stories go on to explain how plants and animals respond to fire and even provided the sacred gift of fire for humans to use to steward the world. The relationships with fire between and among species emerged as lessons for how to live with fire."

Bless the children: What Jesus would say about getting a COVID-19 vaccination

"Jesus of Nazareth was teaching and healing people in the rural areas of first century Galilee. Some local women brought their babies and children to him for him to bless them. Some of his followers prevented them from getting to Jesus, and when he realized this, the Bible says he became “indignant” – incensed, livid, upset, distressed, angry.

These women were likely impoverished peasant women whose lives were hard and whose children were the most vulnerable in the first century world. These were children for whom disease and poverty were a constant threat. Their mothers were bringing them for prayer, blessing and protection.

Jesus was furious when he saw the needs of children being pushed aside and ignored. For him, the way of unselfish, sacrificial love that seeks the good and wellbeing of others is at the heart of God’s law for human life and society. That way of love demanded attention to the most vulnerable and helpless – in this case, children."

Thank you, Presiding Bishop Curry

Presiding Bishop condemns ‘coup attempt’ at US Capitol

“We are a democracy with longstanding institutional norms that must be honored,” Curry said in his brief address, “foremost among them following the processes laid out in the Constitution and federal statute to facilitate the peaceful and orderly transfer of power.”

Curry then asked viewers to join him as he prayed for the nation, using the prayers that accompany Morning Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer, including the Prayer for Peace, which is addressed to “Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love.”
