Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys

Check back for regular updates about upcoming repertoire and special performances by the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys!

Operating as usual

09/17/2021

Wonderful to have our first Friday Hymn Sing in the cathedral since March 2020! The choristers sang Gerald Near's "Christ hath a garden," in addition to requesting and leading a CSB favorite, "Christ the worker."

We just completed our first Hymn Sing of the year (and first since last March), and we’re so thrilled to restart this favorite weekly tradition! Judging from how many hands shot up to choose a hymn, our students are just as excited, too. Next week we’ll be welcoming parents and friends to join us- keep an eye out for details in next week’s Bulletin.

After two years, it's been wonderful to return to The Bishop's Ranch for choir camp this week. With so many newer choristers, we've had a lot of team-building and musical work to do, but we've also a lot of fun reconnecting with choir camp traditions. As the week comes to an end, everyone looks forward to our final service on Sunday morning, and following picnic with parents and families and choirmen. More pictures to come!

Our organist will certainly be looking out for the intriguing works of Elsa Barraine, among others.

General information

Grace Cathedral has had a men's choir since its founding as an institution in 1906, and boy's voices were added in 1913. The centuries-old Anglican tradition of a men and boys choir has since blossomed here, as one of a handful of such choirs in the United States. Currently, The Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys is comprised of 12 choirmen and 24 choristers. The boys of the Choir are students at the Cathedral School for Boys. The men of the Choir are a professional ensemble. The weekly choir rehearsal on Sunday mornings at 10:15 am is held in the Quire and is open to all visitors in the Cathedral.
