ARCHBISHOP'S RESPONSE TO RIOTS AT THE U.S. CAPITOL
Most Rev. Salvatore J. Cordileone's Statement in Response to Riots at the U.S. Capitol

January 6, 2021---Archdiocese of San Francisco

To attack the U.S. Capitol to express your fear that democracy has been denied is wrong, and also counterproductive. Doubts about free and fair elections cannot be redressed by violence against democratic institutions.

To the deaths from a pandemic, and destruction wreaked on people's livelihoods, we do not need to add an attempted civil war. I called for an end to violence in the streets when it happened this summer. I call on every American of good will to denounce this violence against our nation's Capitol now.
May the Prince of Peace put an end to this strife, and bring healing and constructive criticism in the place of mob rule. And may God bless America.
'CHRISTIANS TOGETHER FOR FRANCIS''
Today has been opened ''Christians together for Francis'' Project for protection and enhancement of Lower Basilica of Saint Francis of ASSISI launched by 'Foundation of Lower Basilica' Nonprofit organisation created to support religious and cultural heritage of the architectural complex of ASSISI and LoveItaly.
The project aims to set up network and mobilise a community in support of one of the masterpieces of ITALY, with its inestimable historical and cultural value, religious place and destination of many pilgrimages.
The objective will be achieved trough a crowfunding campaign for the restoration of precious painting representing Saint Francis, is a great opportunity for restoring to the fresco its original beauty, WICH EVERYONE CAN CONTRIBUTE.
https://loveitaly.org/.../insieme-per-san-francesco.../...
The restoration is very urgent because the degradation, caused by seismic events and micro-climatic factors, is damaging the painting; sedimentation shall be evident, detangling and microsollection of the pictorial film, as well as injuries along the surface of the fresco.
The work consists in the restoration of the stability and adhesion of pictorial film to the plaster, as well as the plaster to the underllying structure.
The old stopping - vich relate to previous interventions - will be consolidated or removed, and replaced with new products made with suitable mortars and compatible with existing materials.
The upheavals of the pictorial film shall be secured by infiltration of acrylic emulsions and, succesively, a dry cleaning will be carried out using sponges for dust removal lightly fixed, of white saline powder and cobwebs.

La NUOVA Ca****la di San Francesco a Collestrada in Perugia da realizzare in questa torretta.

Saint Francis of Assisi – (The new) Chapel of Saint Francis in Collestrada
…...................................
Prologo
…...................................
There are different locations related to the life of a saint like Francis.
In addition there are locations of which have been lost historical memory:
Actually is on one of these that we would like operating recovery from the mists of time.
…....................................
Historical context
…....................................
The event that binds the forgotten place to the life of Francis, occurred in the year 1200
(approximately), when a combative militay of Assisi, was sent to avenge the wrongdoings of the
expelled compatriots and refugees under protection of Perugia.
The foot soldiers of Assisi, protected by the cavalry with Francis (John of Bernardone, so called
Francis), blessed by the Bishop, came down from Col Subasio playing the drums, welcoming
military of other towns.
The municipality of Perugia had an interest in protecting the exiles of Assisi, nobles, rich, they had
invested riches in his territory.
With this policy Perugia favored the weakening of Assisi, rebel and hard to submit.
The area to wich they were directed, was that of Collestrada, with the Tevere plain, the Forest of
Farnetto and agricultural activities.
Here were expected by the mercenary armies of Assisi and soldiers of Perugia, that they were
positioned reinforcements just across the river, just to prevent escapes and flows towards Perugia.
In this Plane there were a lot of towers, used as a warehouse or shelter:
Alessandro Piceller restored one of these, an aedicula who remembered the battle.
…........................................
The artifact
…........................................
The tower has a rectangular shape.
Is an example of medieval Umbrian construction.
It has been renovated, elevated and moved to where it is now, cause the construction of the road (in
the 1988) .
The interior is empty and it is walled because vandalized.
…...........................................
Goals and targets
…...........................................
The tower and the landscape must be valued in order to stimulate the birth of interest by citizens,
public entities, private enterprises and than anyone else might be envolved positively.
The study of feasibility will have to turn the interior in a chapel, commemorative of the battle of
Collestrada, place of prayer and spirituality, usable by the community.
Tree-lined paths will be realized with benches and historical information.
The Chapel will be inserted in the franciscans paths because in Perugia was great the presence of
Francis.
We must remember that Francis, after Collestrada, was imprisoned for a year in the center of
Perugia.

KOSF Nativity 2020

We did our best to in some way perform our annual live nativity in the middle of this pandemic.

We got together..masks adorned..ten feet apart, unless of one family and put together this video.

We are not professionals, in fact being perfessionals would have defeated the purpose of the live Nativity Saint Francis created in Greccio in 1223.

Saint Francis pulled people from the streets of Greccio to create the live Nativity. The humbleness of it all is the point.

Knight Tory Hartmann did a great job, putting everything together, in the most difficult of quarantine times....we can't thank her enough!

Hope you enjoy our 2020 live Nativity.

H/T to Janice Clark: Former President of San Francisco Board of Supervisors and Mayoral Candidate, San Francisco Lawyer Angela M. Alioto spoke out about the blatant discrimination against the Catholic Church by San Francisco authorities. Angela Aliot knows everyone in politics in San Francisco. Her father was Mayor Joseph Alioto. She is owner/President at the Law Offices of Joseph & Angela Alioto. Angela Alioto personally funded the building of the Porziuncola Shrine to St. Francis at St Francis Church and established these Knights of St. Francis to protect the Shrine. The Franciscan Fraternity of the Friars Minors of the Porziuncola in Assisi, in association with “Lo Storico Cantiere” of Marino (Rome) conferred on her the title of "Silver Rose - Frate Jacopa 2012 – Female Contemporary Witnesses to Faith, Hope and Love.” on the site of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi. The title takes its origin from the figure of Lady Jacopa dei Settesoli who through meeting with St. Francis radically changed her life to become a vibrant witness to faith and love.

StPatrick2.png
ST. PATRICK'S BREASTPLATE

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.

I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.

I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In the predictions of prophets,
In the preaching of apostles,
In the faith of confessors,
In the innocence of holy virgins,
In the deeds of righteous men.

I arise today, through
The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.

I arise today, through
God's strength to pilot me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.

I summon today
All these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul;
Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me an abundance of reward.

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator the earth

Sfnewsfeed.us

San Francisco, CA (8/13)- Residents of the historic North Beach neighborhood are voicing anger over a recent decision to close to close the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi.

According to community leaders, "The National Shrine is located in the heart of San Francisco where Italian North Beach and Chinatown meet, it is "The Heart of San Francisco" in a singular way where Heaven and Earth meet like no other place in our city.

One of the reasons this Shrine is unique is its very urban location in the second most densely populated city in the country. But in the midst of an often rowdy, noisy, b***y, and chaotic neighborhood (a bronze marker in the sidewalk reminds us that this was once "The Barbary Coast"), the Shrine's Church and the Porziuncola offer an oasis of peace, quiet, serenity, and refreshment to the thirsty spirit.

Saint Francis was very aware that all of God's creation is holy and that it reflects his beauty, truth, and goodness. But Francis appreciated churches, especially, because he knew that in these sacred spaces people could find and recognize the presence of God's spirit more easily than "in the world." That is why the Little Poor Man of Assisi dedicated a good portion of his life to rebuilding old abandoned churches, like San Damiano (where he had heard the voice of Jesus Christ) and Saint Mary of the Angels Porziuncola (or Little Portion)...."

According to the site's website, "The National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi, as with The Archdiocese of San Francisco, has a mission that is rooted in the Gospels and the social teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Central to that teaching is the inherent dignity and sacredness of each human being.

We educate and advocate on this dignity in relation to the unborn child, the prisoner on death row, the homeless and hungry person on our streets, the elderly, the ill and disabled faced with the threat of assisted su***de, the stranger in our midst, and the poor and marginalized in our society and throughout the world. We are neither right nor left, Republican nor Democrat, but we formulate our agenda by the standard of human dignity that is reflected in our faith tradition.

It is the purpose of the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi to provide more abundant means of salvation, through the rich liturgical and devotional life of the Roman Catholic Church for the Christian faithful, including those who come as pilgrims from around the world to the City of San Francisco and the greater San Francisco Bay Area, who seek to encounter the living God through religious worship and special devotion to St. Francis of Assisi and the Franciscan saints.

It is the further purpose of the National Shrine to welcome, share and extend this same spiritual experience and devotion to St. Francis of Assisi and the Franciscan saints to pilgrims and visitors of all faiths, religions, denominations, and nationalities.
The Capuchin Franciscan Friars (OFM Cap.) and Staff of the National Shrine, therefore, provide a pastoral (i.e., welcoming and prayerful) environment with the hope that in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, spiritual nourishment healing and reconciliation will be found by all who visit the Shrine...."

On June 30th (7/30), the Knights of Saint Francis warned community leaders, "We Need Your Help!!! Rector John at the National Shrine of Saint Francis CLOSED the little Porziuncola Nuova, the chapel we the Knights have faithfully guarded for ten years. The Chapel that Cardinal Levada and I built in 2008.

See: www.knightsofsaitfrancis.com

In an online petition by Attorney Angela Alioto, "The Knights of Saint Francis have guarded the Porziuncola Nuova Chapel at the National Shrine of Saint Francis for over ten years. The rector, John La Riva recently closed the little chapel, for no apparent reason, and as a result it is no longer open to members of the public.

See: https://www.change.org/p/san-francisco-archdiocese-open-the-porziuncola-nuova-chapel-in-north-beach-now?recruiter=10171804&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook_messenger_mobile&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_message&recruited_by_id=37156a00-c261-012f-69b3-4040ea65fa16&share_bandit_exp=message-16484805-en-US&share_bandit_var=v1

The Knights of Saint Francis request that the Archbishop direct the rector to reopen the Porziuncola Nuova. We also request that the Archbishop review the recent actions of the rector towards the Knights of Saint Francis and towards the public, for his possible removal from the National Shrine of Saint Francis.

The National Shrine of Saint Francis and the Porziuncola Nuova are symbols of peace, compassion and love. This recotor does not understand that...."

Community leaders described the shrine as, "The “Piazza Saint Francis, The Poets Plaza” is envisioned as a simple piazza honoring Peacemakers and Poets, and the community of North Beach in the great City of San Francisco.

This sentiment was echoed by Cathleen Gillies who noted, "It’s a holy quiet place in the middle of the republic of San Francisco where people need quiet and a safe place for reflection...."

The decision now lies in the hands of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, to whom local officials and residents are calling for the reopening of the Shrine.

Angela M. Alioto Public Figure

Did you know the floor of our little chapel is possibly the oldest floor in the United States of America! We don't know of any other floor that is as old as that because that floor was originally in the old Roman church in Foligno and had been there for centuries!!

The Pietra Rosa stone is very precious and scarce. When we were building the Porziuncola, we needed lots of it for the floor but the mason told me that it was not going to be easy to get the rock.

I told him that we would keep dirt on the floor until we found the Pietra Rosa....that's when he called me and said you're not going to believe it but there's a little church in the town of Foligno that is tearing up their Pietra Rosa, will you accept that? And I said of course I will, and as a consequence we received enough Pietra Rosa to build the floor of our little chapel in San Francisco. Once again it was divine Providence! The whole story of the stone is in this video.

We have to reopen this beautiful little chapel to the people of San Francisco and from around the world. So please sign and share the link below. Thank you so much!!!
