The Zaroastrian ceremony called The JAVJOTE celebrates the child’s initiation into the Sacred family. An important part of the ceremony involves a KUSTI or binding cord that represents a binding commitment to their creed. Each child stands in front of an elder who helps them hold the Kusti during the ceremony before being wrapped around their waste and to be worn as part of their traditional costume called a SUDREH.

An interesting panel discussion on Interfaith understanding during the COVID-19 pandemic. From representatives of Muslim, Jewish and Christian Faiths and moderated by Michael G. Pappas from the San Francisco Interfaith Council. I brought up the question of the role of children and young people of diffrent Faiths on this issue. All panelists contributed interesting feedback on the subject.

As we come into the month of Ramadan, the most important observance by the Islam Faith, numerous mosques are utilizing social media and technology to reach out to their followers at their homes, including the Lighthouse Mosque in Oakland, the Khalil Center in San Francisco and the Muslim Community Center, also in San Francisco. Beginning on April 23 and ending on May 23, Ramadan is a month-long time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship as part of Islam Faith. Meet RACHAEL, The Tenth KIDSINHAND Doll. She represents the Reformed Jewish Faith.
She’s dressed up to take part in her Synagogue’s Seder, a ceremonial meal that takes place on the first and/or second evening of Passover. She wears the Traditional “Tallit” or Prayer Shawl which she wears around her shoulders. If she’s involved in lighting the Seder Candles or reading the Torah, she will wear the shawl over her head as a sign of devoutnes.

Tonight is the 15th Shaban, a Blessed night in the Islam Faith. Also known as the night of forgiveness. A great night where Allah forgives many, dua (prayers of supplication) is accepted and suffering is relieved.
Tonight’s Qiyaam, or evening prayers, is followed by fasting tomorrow morning.

A Jewish EMT faces North toward Jerusalem and a Muslim EMT faces South towards Mecca as they pause and pray in the middle of the day of fighting for the lives of those infected with THE Covid-19 Virus. A perfect example of cooperation between different Faiths.
