Last year we did not get to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in America quite like we anticipated we would. As the pandemic comes to an end, the Diocese of the West will be publishing a series of articles, interviews, reflections, stories, and videos related to the history, experience, worship, and life of our treasured Diocese. Make sure you follow our website and diocesan social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) for when they post and without further ado, a pastoral reflection on entering Great Lent by Fr. John Dresko:

[02/17/21] Many have asked His Eminence how Fr. Paul Waisanen is doing. Here is an update from his wife, Mat. Judith: We have just learned that Fr. Paul has a mass in his left kidney and that both kidneys are only functioning at 30% capacity. The high calcium was hard on his kidneys and it takes time for them to heal from that. With time that 30% can improve. They probably will have to remove it or part of it. We will be seeing another specialist in regards to that. So far we still don’t know the source causing the high calcium. Thank you for your prayers. Our hope in the Lord and his will for us.
