Bay Area Rooster Boosters

I just saw this on a craft page! HAHAHA!
To go with my previous message, for more info about the church, go to - that is Fr Brendan in the photo.
Or send donations to
200 Oyster Creek Dr, Lake Jackson, TX 77566
Our former associate priest is rector at St Timothy's Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson, TX. If anyone is looking for a good place to donate money, this is it. They are helping each other and their nneighbors clean up their homes, and it is a mess!
God has blessed the community with Fr Marty yet again!
Positive article includes a quote from Susie Rathjen. Is this our Susie Rathjen?

Supporters of our favorite 3 day weekend! Rooster Booster is a program to help the secretariat continue to provide the wonderful cursillo experience to as many Christians as possible.

It is a program that will allow you, the cursillista, to give back to the community that has given so much to you.

Make a pledge to contribute to the work of Bay Area Rooster Boosters, and the continuation of the cursillo movement. This can be any combination of time, talent and treasure. This can be a commitment to work on the secretariat, to locate and sponsor a candidate, to palanca a meal or any type of stewardship with which you feel comfortable. All funds raised will be used to provide support for a local outreach program, establish a scholarship fund for candidates and team members, and provide badly needed financial support for the local and general secretariats.

Operating as usual

[07/23/21]   More sad news…. Thank you, Sue HC McNaughton, for letting us know…..

Our dear Tina Reinke passed into eternal life on Friday, July 23rd after a short battle with non-smoker's lung cancer. Tina's love of God and Cursillo were unmatched. Her participation in, organization of and spreading of the movement touched many lives.

Who could have explained to us the flow of the weekend or taught so many of us the way of the Cursillo Clown or shared some fun at a Leadership Workshop the way Tina did?

I am sure most of us have a great Tina story. And I am sure she would like us to share these stories with one another and sing a tune in her memory.

For now, I will just say that she will always be my #1!

Love, from Texas,

[04/30/21]   With much sadness, we announce the passing of Rose Innes, who died last Sunday, April 25th, on the Feast of the Good Shepherd.

Your SF/SM Cursillo Secretariat has elected this term to focus on the following Committees and we welcome the support and action of our larger community in attempting to serve the tasks of each servant group. You do not need to attend or belong to the Secretariat to serve on a committee and yet we need the Piety, Study and Action of us all to help carry our movement forward in the new world we now inhabit!

With the pandemic and restrictions on our gatherings, we have been holding our monthly meetings (2nd Tuesday @ 6:45pm, the next is Tuesday, 11/8) via Zoom and any of you are welcome to attend, just reach out for the link information. If you join a servant committee, you'd meet separately according to your agreed schedule and reports would be made back to the Secretariat.

Have you been missing your Cursillo friends? Have you been wondering about our future and how to help keep us going?

If you have interest in, or experience in, or are ready to sign up for any of the following committees, please reach out!

Kevin Kain, Rector 2021, is serving as our Chair this term, so please email him asap at [email protected]; we hope to identify the committee rosters this month!

Thanks for bringing us to 53% of goal!!
Seems month-end payroll comes this week, if you can spare $5 (or $25 for 6), please sponsor a lucky duck and help raise funds for our community!!

The Ducks4Bucks Race is Oct 3rd so hurry! You can also win $2000 or other great prizes if your ducky wins!!!

The Local SF/SM Secretariat has registered as a Team in Ducks4Bucks and we'd love your support to raise funds for our Cursillo Community!!!

[07/01/20]   Friends,
Just a note to let you know Fr Marty has just had hip surgery at Sequoia Hospital. He is doing well and will most likely be released in a couple of days. I know he would appreciate your prayers and hearing from you (via email). Please send your good wishes to him. We pray his recovery is swift and smooth!

(Thx to Ruby and Margie for the intel.)

[06/25/20]   Please join in sending healing prayers for Bob Bullard’s parents who are enduring different health crises.... Continue your comfort prayers for Trina McFadden Wiese and peace for her daughter and family and friends...
Also, for Leilani McCurdy’s brother, who is having cardiac issues...
And selfishly, prayers for our parents, please: so many have folks in care facilities that we cannot visit or are seeing them change and are struggling to adapt to their new realities.
And blessings on each of you this day, for these things we ask your living care, Oh God, and thank you for your every Grace. 06/25/2020

De Colores!

I *finally* figured out that you actually can use on the mobile app - you just have to activate it (use the search bar to learn how)! Now Cursillo (Bay Area Rooster Boosters) can benefit from all my crazy shopping.

The movement needs funds to continue. While the teams/Secretariat work on planning ‘events’ for us all to ‘attend’ at a distance, I’m trying the little things and welcome anyone who is able to help!!

If you have payroll matching donation options in your workplace, and you’re able at this time, please consider setting up Bay Area Rooster Boosters as a non-profit you’d like to support. Shop at and we’ll donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to your favorite charitable organization—no fees, no extra cost. 06/01/2020

Memorial service for Cursillista, Bev Hammel, Saturday, Sept. 28, 11am, St. Andrew’s, 1600 Santa Lucia, San Bruno....

Sadly, I learned this morning that long-time Cursillista, Bev Hammel, passed away over the weekend. Now on to her “fifth day,” she leaves a sweet memory in our hearts. She was introduced to my life via St. Andrew’s (now SEA Episcopal Church) and Camp St. Andrews. Kind words from a supportive friend always seemed to be the order of the day, in my experience of Bev. Ask me someday how she got Veronica to stop smoking...and then apologized for it. 😉Our prayers go out for Bev, her family and friends. When we know about services, we will share.

De Colores,

Please come out and support Cursillo 994! Mike Mathot is coming to town to provide dinner and we will have silent auction prizes*, including trips/tickets, as well as a dessert auction*, entertainment and some grand prize drawings.
Make your reservations now [email protected]!

*Auction/Dessert donations welcome!
