Our Stories In His Story

If you are watching from Richardson, TX we'd like to stay in touch: https://tinyurl.com/ybmvakjc

Have you ever had an expectation about or from God that has not happened or been true? There are many ideas and stories we tell ourselves about God. Usually, these stories are not accurate or are short-sighted, but they drive our expectations of God. We feel disappointed and disillusioned with God based on these expectations. Like our doubts, God engages these stories and ideas with the love, truth and reality of his story revealed in Jesus. Friends, our stories and expectations find purpose and meaning only within God’s story expressed in and through Jesus.

Have Doubts? That's Okay. (Full Sunday Worship Service)

The resurrection of Jesus is doubted by some. That’s okay. May be you are one of those who doubt. The resurrection is not the only thing or area for doubt. It is part of our nature as humans to doubt. You may doubt sometimes whether God hears your prayers, doubt whether things are going to turn out alright, doubt whether you are good enough or do good enough for God to accept you. That’s okay. Why? Well, Jesus is not afraid of your doubt if it is a sincere desire for truth, for relief, for learning, for faith. See, doubt can be a fertile ground for faith. The story of Jesus’ encounter with Thomas may be your story as well.

LIVE: Easter Sunday: He is Risen - So Shall You!

Resurrection is restoration and yet also a newness. A rising, and also a change, a be-over! The resurrection is a person – Jesus! Jesus is risen. In him and through him and for him, so shall you! Jesus is your resurrection and life. He invites you to a new, victorious, joyous life of love. That no matter how hard the struggle, how dark the days, how painful the now and the memories, in Jesus you rise. On this Easter/Resurrection Sunday we are reminded to hold on to this eternal perspective – to set our minds on Jesus in hope of the victory he has already won for us!

[04/05/20]   What do you struggle with? Betrayal, loneliness, failure, illness, being forsaken, ostracized, or unwanted? As we look forward to Easter and the great victory the death and resurrection of Jesus means for you, me, and the whole world, let us pause and consider the harrowing time Jesus went through on his last night before death. Jesus’ whole life was not a bed of roses, he lived a life that shows him to be a friend of strugglers. We all struggle with one thing or another, at one time or another. Jesus understands what it means for us to struggle. He struggled and is a friend of those who struggle. Let’s remind ourselves of this from Matthew 26 and 27.

Show your palms. Post your pictures in the comments.

#GCRichardson Reposting from a sister church GCI Ghana

Prayer is so much more than the sharing of words. Through our prayers, we reveal our heart, hopes, and disappointments – our whole being – to God. We allow space for him to heal and transform us more and more into the likeness of Christ. Take some time to rest in your friendship with God. Use the prayer frames to process with the Lord in prayer. Trust that he knows, sees, cares, and is working all things for our good!

From Weeping to Joy

There is a story in John 11 that reminds us during times of crisis (such as now), whether they are national, community, family or individual crisis, who God is and how we are to understand God in the midst of our pain, fear, or uncertainty. Jesus is Lord not only in the midst of our pain, he wants us to know that he is still Lord even when we feel a matter is beyond hope or help. He is Lord not only over sickness, but also Lord over death. Jesus turns our waiting and weeping into joy because he is Lord over even the ultimate sacrifice – death! Let’s read parts of John 11 for this wonderful reassurance of the wisdom and love of God toward us.
