Community Christian Church, Richardson, TX Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Please join us for Sunday School at 9:30 AM and worship at 10:50 AM.

As a Disciples of Christ congregation, we have the usual mix of politically and religiously conservative and liberal. We have teachers, engineers, accountants, counselors, coaches, pilots, business owners, office workers, sales folks, and even a tennis pro. We even have two or three clergy as a part of our church family. Our collective DNA as Disciples through reminds us, invites us, and even challenges us at times to treasure the gift we have-that all of us are welcomed to the Communion Table by Christ Jesus. There is no test of faith or preconditions that we must meet other than a belief that Jesus is God's Christ and that it is he who invites us to come and share the table. We all come as guests. We all come as family members of God's family. You are invited to come and experience our unique hospitality and character blended through the message, mission, love and compassion of the gospel of Jesus. As we learn and grow together, we invite you to come and be an important part of this community of faith. Allow us to each share our gifts alongside yours so that we might encourage a strong confidence and trust in God's presence and guidance each day. Whether our journey together is long or short, we will strive to worship and serve faithfully here and in our community, our nation, our world, and online in the name of Jesus our Lord. From our formation as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we have resisted anything in the way of a creed or doctrine of faith. They have for generations been used to guide people's beliefs, but they have also been divisive. Our founders sought a way to make it possible for all people to be able to come to the table of our Lord Jesus as one gathered body of believers. Therefore our only requirements for membership are to make a confession of faith that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, to accept Him as Lord and Savior and to be baptized, if you have not been previously baptized. Through the years, we have used slogans to help guide us in our pursuit of faith and service. Here are a few of the slogans that have served us through the years. "Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent." Thomas Campbell "The Church of Jesus Christ on earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one." Thomas Campbell "We are Christians only, but not the only Christians." Barton Stone "Let Christian unity be our polar star." Barton Stone "In essentials unity; in opinions liberty, in all things love." Peter Meiderlin- 17th century Lutheran theologian "No creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, no law but love, no name but the divine."

Please share this email with your friends!

You do not need a Facebook account to watch.

The service will include music and communion.

Prior to the service, please prepare elements which, through our shared prayers, will represent the body and blood of Christ. If you are unable to procure both, know that the Christian tradition has long taught that taking only the bread or only the cup is equal to receiving the full grace of communion. A prayer for those unable to commune has been provided in the bulletin.

Dear Friends,

Thanks to all who have mailed their offerings, tithes, and pledges into the church. We humbly ask you to continue to do so during the time of social isolation. I am grateful for your generosity and your response to the needs of our community and our neighbors.

We are also excited to announce a new online opportunity for our community to connect. Please join us for Coffee with the Pastor via Zoom at 3 p.m. on Tuesdays starting March 31. Zoom will allow us to interact via video and audio. All you need to do is click on this link:
https://us04web.zoom.us/j/779563692 and follow the instructions.

You will find an updated copy of our prayer list by clicking here.

You are invited to join us for Thursday Devotions (11:45 a.m.) and Sunday morning sermons (10:50 a.m.) on Facebook Live by following the following link— whether you're on Facebook or not:
https://www.facebook.com/pg/cccrichardson/videos/ I will continue offering the Thursday Devotions until we are able to be together at church again.

Remember that pursuant to the March 23 decision of the Richardson City Council to extend the Dallas County shelter-in-place order for the city through April 30, and the March 25 White House disaster declaration for the State of Texas, Community Christian Church will be closed through April 30.

This unfortunately means that we will not meet at church on Easter Sunday, April 12. Rest assured that plans are being made to create a special online experience for this important milestone in the life of the church. Also, this year instead of Maundy Thursday, we will have a Good Friday service online at 7 p.m. on April 10. Stay tuned for more information.

In Christ,
Rev. Andy Shelton
