Heritage Fellowship Church

Heritage Fellowship Church is a non-denominational, bible-teaching church located in Reston, VA Rev. Dr. Dustin B. Sullivan, pastor Follow us on Facebook www.facebook.com/heritagefellowshipchurch #HeritageReston #christcongregationcommunity #lovelifts

We are standing on the word of God, seeking the will of God, sure in our worship of God and steadfast in the work of God. #HeritageReston

Mission: The Scriptures We believe that all Scripture is given by the inspiration of God, both the Old and New Testament, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) We believe that through the study of God's Word and prayer, every student may be complete and thoroughly equipped for good work. (2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:17) God the Son We believe Jesus, the eternal Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a man by means of the virgin birth. (Matthew 1:18, Luke 1:34-35; Philippians 2:6-7) We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, and His intercession for all saints. (John 3:13, Mark 16:19, Acts 2:33, Romans 8:34, Matthew 28:1-8) We believe in the visible, personal and glorious Second Coming of Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:20-24, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) God the Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit indwells the saints, places the saints in the Body of Christ and bestows spiritual gifts individually to each of the saints for the edifying of the Body of Christ. (John 3:3-8; 14:16-17; 16:7-11; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 13; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18) Humanity We believe we were created in the image of God; through disobedience, sinned and fell, and the entire race shares in this lost and depraved nature. (Genesis 1:27, Colossians 1:16-17, Genesis 3) Salvation We believe salvation is the gift of God by grace alone and received through a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and this faith is manifested in works pleasing to God. (John 1:12; Acts 16:30-33; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-9) We believe in the eternal salvation of the saints and in the eternal damnation and punishment of the non-believers. (John 3:16, Matthew 25:31-46) Atonement for Sin We believe we are reconciled to God through the atonement for sin that was made by the sacrificial and substitutionary death of Jesus Christ. (John 1:1-3, 14; 3:1-7; 1 John 2:2) Sacraments We believe that the sacraments of the church, by the command of Christ, are Water Baptism and the Lord's Supper; both of which are administered to those who have professed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. (Matthew 28:18-20)

The flu can be a serious illness, especially for older adults and those with underlying health conditions. An annual flu vaccine is the best way to reduce your risk of getting sick. Flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six months of age and older. Fairfax County Health Department and Neighborhood and Community Services are offering flu vaccine clinics at select senior centers for Fairfax residents 18 years of age and older. Take control of your health this season and get a flu vaccine.

Call for details.
The Health Department is administering the quadrivalent influenza vaccine (not “high-dose.”) Pneumonia vaccine available for those 65 years of age and over. Must be requested when making your appointment.

For more information call the Fairfax County Health Department at 703-246-2411. TTY 711.

Here at Faith & Prejudice we are noticing a marked uptick in arguments between and among Christians who are claiming disbelief that a Christian would vote for a particular political party. "How can you be a Christian and vote for Democrats? They're killing babies!" Or, "how can you be a Christian and vote for Republicans? They're making the rich richer and the poor poorer!" "How can you be a Christian and vote for Democrats? They support gay marriage!" Or, "how can you be a Christian and vote for Republicans? They support police brutality against Black people!"

We have faltered as a Body if we conflate voting for a political party with "voting for God" because neither political party embraces the full counsel of God's Word. And this is why Christians who read the same bible can vote entirely different ways. It isn't because of scripture; it's because of our personal interests and convictions. Case in point.

Some who fight vehemently to protect the unborn shrug their shoulders when law enforcement takes an unarmed black person's life, viewing them as criminals and not a human being deserving of life and a fair trial. On the flip side, there are some who fight vehemently against police brutality of unarmed black people who view the unborn as nothing more than a growing mass of cells and not a human being deserving of life.

This is why, before you place the stamp of Christianity on why you are voting a certain way, never forget that the full counsel of God automatically disagrees with either choice. Instead of saying "I'm voting this way because I'm a Christian," it is better to say "I'm voting this way because their platform represents my personal interests and priorities."

When we try to claim our faith as our ideological filter, we will ALWAYS be proven hypocritical since neither party represents the full counsel of God.

Heritage Helps September 2020

Before the church building was closed in March, the Lord gave Pastor a message, "The Work of the Church – Unstoppable." That message was part two in a series. We are now living out the third part: Heritage Helps.

In May, we fed 268 families, by August that number doubled to more than 500 families, and there were more that needed food! With your help, this month we can feed more than 500 households, including seniors, families in our community, and families in our church. We can’t do this without you.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Donate to Heritage Helps
Your contribution of $50 will feed two (2) families with boxes of food weighing 22 pounds each! If you are able to give more, or if you are unable to make that financial commitment, please give what the Lord has placed on your heart to give. Select "Heritage Helps" so that your donation will go directly to this program.

Volunteer to Serve with Heritage Helps on September 26, 2020
On Saturday, September 26th, volunteers will gather at Heritage Fellowship Church to pick up the food, sort it, and distribute it to familes in need. The volunteer shifts will start that day as early as 4:30 a.m., and all volunteer shifts will be over by 11:00 a.m. We observe the guidelines of the CDC and the Virginia Health Department to ensure both our volunteers and the families remain safe. If you have questions about the precautions, email us at [email protected].

Commit to Provide Masks and other Personal Protection Equipment to Families
We have learned most of these families also need masks and gloves. Volunteers are needed to sew and/or purchase masks to donate to these families. When you click the link, put Heritage Unstoppable in the message and let us know how many masks you plan to contribute.
