My dear and long-time friend, Bob, Greetings from Frisco TX! After finishing watching our live stream at St. Philip's, it was an added joy to continue in worship, singing along with you "All Glory, Laud and Honor" (loudly and with the volume up :-) ) and "O Sacred Head...". It was a blessing to worship with you, Father Jim and Mother Sarah. Wishing all of you, your families and your Ascension Family a blessed and meaningful (howbeit "different") Holy Week and Easter. God's grace always manages to meet us wherever and how ever we are!

A simple piano meditation for Good Friday: "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" and "Behold the Lamb."

When I survey the wondrous cross
where the young Prince of Glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Behold the Lamb, behold the Lamb,
Slain from the foundation of the world.
For sinners crucified, O holy sacrifice,
Behold the Lamb of God, behold the Lamb.

Happy Birthday to Adaobi Okobi-Mokwuyne! O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servant Adaobi as she begins another year. Grant that she may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen her trust in your goodness all the days of her life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Happy Birthday to Carolyn Armstrong!

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servant Carolyn as she begins another year. Grant that she may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen her trust in your goodness all the days of her life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Happy Birthday to Rev. Sara Oxley!

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servant Sara as she begins another year. Grant that she may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen her trust in your goodness all the days of her life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Maybe you’ve heard of Evensong before, but perhaps you don’t know what it is or why you should attend. Ascension’s Lenten Choral Evensong on March 29 is for everyone, and you are warmly invited to attend this service. Nursery will be provided.

Choral Evensong is a service of scripture, prayer, and music that has been done regularly in the Anglican church since the sixteenth century. When you take part in a service of Evensong, you are joining in an ancient pattern of worship that brings together elements of the old monastic offices of Vespers and Compline. First-time attendees are often struck by the beauty of the service itself, the words that are said, and the music that it is sung. Our Lenten Evensong will provide an opportunity for contemplative worship as we focus on Christ’s redemptive work for his people.

The Ascension Audio/Visual Ministry Team utilizes sound and projection technology so that we can offer the best worship environment for our parishioners and guests. There are several opportunities to help in the AV Ministry. Volunteers serve about once a month. Positions needed at each service are:

Sound Board Operator - ensures the best sound through simple tasks such as muting and un-muting microphones and adjusting volumes as needed. The Sound Board Operator also records the sermon for the web site.

PowerPoint Computer Operator - clicks through the slides that contain the liturgy and music for the service. No technical experience is necessary for this position other than the ability to follow the liturgy and advance slides using the keyboard or remote.

Whether you’re passionate about technology, or are just looking for a place to jump in and lend a hand, we’ll equip you with all that you need to do these tasks confidently. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering for the AV Ministry.

Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
