[06/12/16] Aisha Cultural Center joins in the mourning of the victims of the mass shooting in downtown Orlando. We are shocked and dismayed that such a senseless and heinous act could hit so close to home. The victims and their families are in our prayers as well as our community at large, and we pray and hope for healing for all those wounded and affected by this horrific act.
ACC project expansion status update
Subsequent to our community town hall meeting held on April 30, 2016 authorizing the ACC Board to move forward with ACC expansion project. The following actions have taken place:
1. Opened a separate bank account for the expansion project on Friday 5-6-2016
2. Submitted a final contract offer on 5-9-2016 to the seller/bank of the property located at 8244 Curry Ford. Since this is a short sale and requires the full amount in cash, we were notified today that our offer has been selected as a backup offer and the seller/bank will keep us posted.
3. Established project committee that includes members of our community with different expertise. We are encouraging others to be part of this important committee, including sisters and youth as well. The input of our community is so critical to the success of this project.
4. Moving forward with the help of Allah (swt) and the community support. We will be developing a project master plan based on community future needs and financial ability in regards to the location of the site.
There is no doubt that the center needs expansion and Alhamdlelah our community is united and excited about the new possibilities. Whether we get this land or we find, enshaAllah a better one we need everyone to remain committed in raising the funds so we can act promptly should the right opportunity arise.
