Why do I get the feeling that God is laughing at us? We are staying at home, social distancing, washing our hands, but still the death count continues to grow. I have been staying home,
but sooner or later I will have to go to the grocery store and pick up a prescription. Will I be safe? Not unless God says so!
Thank you for the kindness and helpfulness of everyone on Sunday. My boys and I felt very welcome. I was looking for a nice, small, structured church for us to join and this is definitely it. This our new church❤️❤️.

Getting to the heart of faith and life since 1959 An Authentic Christian Community in the Heart of Orlando! Reformation is a welcoming family style congregation endeavoring to encounter the living God through worship, study, prayer and service.

Faith is an intimate encounter. And we strive to develop a living faith through an interconnected supportive, and caring community. Let us live Jesus' command! ~ 'love one another, by this everyone will know you are my disciples.'

Operating as usual

Come Holy Spirit!

Today is Pentecost Sunday. We celebrate that God sent the Holy Spirit to be among us and work within us.

Reformation Lutheran Church Orlando, 05/23/2021, The Pentecost of our Loe

Please join us Sunday for worship. Our services are at 9:30am and 5:00pm. The 9:30 service is traditional Liturgy and music, with the 5:00 service being just the spoken word (Express). If you can't join us in person, the 9:30 service will be broadcast live and saved on our YouTube channel. The link for this week, The Pentecost of Our Lord is:

https://youtu.be/Hu7XPjfM6PQ

When the day of Pentecost had come, [the apostles] were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit… Acts 2:1-4

Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Crossing all boundaries that would separate us, the Spirit brings the wideness of God’s mercy to places we least expect it—to a crowd of strangers of different lands and tongues, to dry bones, to our weak hearts. Jesus promises his disciples that they will be accompanied by the Holy Spirit, and that this Spirit reveals the truth. We celebrate that we too have been visited with this same Spirit. Guided by the truth, we join together in worship, and then disperse to share the fullness of Christ’s love with the world.

From last year, but the message is the same (well except we will be inside, not in the field). Tomorrow we celebrate Pentecost! We hear the winds, see the fire, hear the languages as we are filled with the Holy Spirit! We hope you can join us, and don't forget to wear your red!!!

It is hard to believe but 1 year ago your worship team had already taped 12 services! The church doors were closed but our hearts were still open! So glad we are past that! Thanks to our great technology team, we are still providing worship via You-Tube on Sunday mornings! See you in church or on-line!

Ascension of our Lord!

Today we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord.
"Then [Jesus] led [his disciples] out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; and they were continually in the temple blessing God" (Luke 24:50-53).

“…love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13

This Sunday’s image of the life the risen Christ shares with us is the image of friendship. We are called to serve others as Jesus came to serve; but for John’s gospel, the image of servant-hood is too hierarchical, too distant, to capture the essence of life with Christ. Friendship captures the love, the joy, the deep mutuality of the relationship into which Christ invites us. The Greeks believed that true friends are willing to die for each other. This is the mutual love of Christian community commanded by Christ and enabled by the Spirit.

I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

The image of the good shepherd shows us how the risen Christ brings us to life. It is the relationship between the shepherd and the sheep, one of mutual knowledge and love, that gives the shepherd authority. The shepherd’s willingness to lay down his life for the sheep shows his love. Acts illustrates the betrayal of the hired hands who have no love for the sheep. And First John illustrates what it means to lay down our lives for one another by the example of sharing
our wealth with any sibling in need.

[04/25/21]   Friends, we apologize for the interruption of our live feed this morning, 04/25/2021. It appears that we experienced a catastrophic cpu failure. After a few moments we were able to make the shift to recording the service in the camcorder. As soon as we get the remainder of the service through post processing we will post the video and a notification that it is up on YouTube with the link. We were able to record the entire confirmation ceremony so it will be included in the upcoming post.

Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd.” King David prophesied of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. “The Lord is my Shepherd… He leads me beside still waters, comforts, protects and restores my soul. He fills my cup to overflowing, anoints my head with oil and leads me along the path of righteousness.”
John 10.11 & Psalm 23.

We are also celebrating the Rite of Confirmation. This Sunday we welcome three of Reformation's youths into membership in our congregation. A Confirmation marks the completion of the congregation's program of confirmation ministry, a period of instruction in the Christian faith as confessed in the teachings of the Lutheran Church. Those who have completed this program were made members of the Church in Baptism. Confirmation includes a public profession of the faith into which the candidates were baptized, thus underscoring God's action in their Baptism.

The gospel for the third Sunday of Easter is always one in which the risen Christ shares food with the disciples. These meals are the Easter template for the sacramental meal we share each
Sunday. In today’s gospel, Jesus shares the disciples’ food AND shows them the meaning of his suffering, death, and resurrection through the scriptures. Word & Sacrament, are the central elements of Sunday worship.
