Saint Rita Ministry

St. Rita of Cascia is known as patron of desperate, seemingly impossible causes, abuse victims and difficult marriages. With the church typically the first responders to instances of domestic violence, the St.

Rita Ministry (Domestic Violence Resource Ministry) at Holy Family Catholic Church serves to be a resource for support and referrals while providing education, outreach and awareness to the issues of domestic violence. Using our parish infrastructure, the St. Rita Ministry is designed to prepare our pastoral staff, ministry volunteers and individual families within our parish community to respond with compassion, factual knowledge, as well as prayer and resources that victims need to make positive changes in their lives. With faith in God and the intercession of St. Rita, our vision is that we may we begin to make a significant difference as we work together to help stop the violence and restore the spiritual well-being of our families, our friends and our community. Visit our website at: http://www.saintritaministry.org The St. Rita Ministry is always seeking new volunteers who want to make a difference in their local community, and to the victims and survivors of domestic abuse. If you're interested in getting more involved or know someone else who may be interested, please contact: John or Stephanie Kresl (407) 926-9481.

Mission: With faith in God and the intercession of St. Rita, our vision is that we may we begin to make a significant difference as we work together to help stop the violence and restore the spiritual well-being of our families, our friends and our community.

This week, we are highlighting St. Rita of Cascia. Her life story is full of strife, loss, and abuse, but she turned to prayer and offered her sufferings to Christ by uniting her sufferings to His on the Cross.

As Melanie Rigney writes in today's reflection, "from a safe distance, we can pray for abusers and ask the Lord to shine his light on their souls
so that they will be open to the help they need."

[06/01/15]   St. Rita of Cascia Prayer

Holy Patroness of those in need, Saint Rita, so humble, pure and patient, whose pleadings with thy Divine Spouse are irresistible, obtain for me from thy Crucified Christ my request (mention it here). Be kind to me, for the greater glory of God, and I promise to honor thee and to sing thy praises forever.

Oh glorious St. Rita, who didst miraculously participate in the sorrowful Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, obtain for me the grace to suffer with resignation the troubles of this life, and protect me in all my needs. Amen

Catholics for Family Peace

“You are invited to join the Board of Directors and Friends of Catholics For Family Peace at 3 p.m. every day in saying a short prayer, especially to St. Rita of Cascia, to intercede for all those touched by domestic abuse.

We pray that those who initiate the hurt, those being hurt, those witnessing the hurt, and everyone who is impacted by each specific case of domestic violence seek the Holy Spirit's wisdom to do the next right thing.

We ask for prayers for us, Catholics For Family Peace, an emerging lay ministry, may we seek always to do God’s will and in the process be supported by the generosity, collaboration, fellowship, and scholarship of others in our work.”

[01/25/15]   " I think the world today is upside down. Everybody seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater development and greater riches and so on. There is much suffering because there is so very little love in homes and in family life. We have no time for our children, we have no time for each other; there is no time to enjoy each other. In the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world." ~ Mother Teresa

On behalf of the St. Rita Ministry and Harbor House of Central Florida, we are so grateful to all our individual volunteers, donors, especially to all of our parishioners from Holy Family Orlando and Upscale Thrift...everyone came together as a community to help share God's infinite love during the Christmas holiday!

This year, we were grateful to have a large group of volunteers to put up trees in Harbor House, Margie’s Place and KB Home. They brought plenty of food, sweet treats, crafts, and donated nearly $1500 in gift cards for the survivors at Harbor House! Santa even made an appearance to bring some cheer to the holiday season. Merry Christmas!
