Young Disciples of Christ at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." (1 Timothy 4:12)

We are the Young Adult Ministry at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church... collectively known as the Young Disciples of Christ (a.k.a. Y-Doc). "My confidence is placed in God who does not need our help for accomplishing his designs. Our single endeavor should be to give ourselves to the work and to be faithful to him, and not to spoil his work by our shortcomings." --St. Isaac Jogues "We begged God to accept our lives and our blood and unite them to His life and His blood for the salvation of these tribes." --St. Isaac Jogues "I know the Lord doesn't give me anything I can't handle, I just wish He wouldn't trust me so much sometimes." --Mother Teresa "Christian evangelism is one beggar showing another beggar where to get bread." --Ennie Hickman, Adore Ministries "Spiritual hunger and thirst are like thermometers for a healthy Christian." --Ennie Hickman, Adore Ministries

Mission: To stand firm in our Faith, as well as be a continual source of nourishment for each other and the world around us. 1. Connect them to Jesus Christ. 2. Connect them to the Church. 3. Connect them to the missions of the world of the Church.

[06/29/16]   Do you have questions about why we believe what we believe? Are there some things about the church that you do not agree with? Then check out this talk by the Holy Name of Jesus young adults. This Friday.

24-7 Prayer International // Sign-Up // Pray for Orlando

A sword has pierced the heart of our city. Since learning of the tragedy Sunday morning, Bishop Noonan has urged all to pray for the victims, the families and first responders. I pray that the Lord’s mercy will be upon us during this time of sadness, shock and confusion. To respond to this great tragedy, we'd like to surround our city in a 24 hour Diocese wide prayer vigil starting 8 am Thursday (6/16) to 8 am Friday (6/17). To sign up, please use the link below.

Please feel free to share this link to all parishes that you know. Since this is an online event, you are more than welcome to do this in the comforts of your own home or parish; with friends and family or during your personal prayer time. We are asking for one person, minimum, to commit to a 30 min slot (max 3 per slot). If the slot is GREEN it means the slot is full but feel free to pray during the slot if it's the time that works best for you. In short, this is our way of ensuring there's at least 1 person praying during the time frame listed above.

We are having a friendly competition with other young adult ministries as to who can raise the most money for Laps for Life. In the "style" of Relay for Life, Laps for Life is a movement to save babies from being aborted by getting as money sonogram machines into pregnancy crisis centers as possible. Help us save babies AND beat those "other" parish ministries!!

“American Idol’s” Catholic Judging Panel

Catholics in the news again! How awesome!
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/christophers/2014/01/american-idols-catholic-judging-panel/

patheos.com It’s well-known that the United States Supreme Court includes a number of Catholic judges. But television’s Supreme Court of New Music Talent – a.k.a. the “American Idol” judging panel – can boast the same statistic.

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful past couple of days while you were recollecting with your families and friends. Let us not forget, though, the Christmas season is not over. The season just STARTS on the Nativity of the Lord and runs through the Baptism of the Lord. Oh, Christ Jesus, we thank you for coming down from Heaven to be with us body, blood, and soul. We pray now for the courage to carry out the mission you've set forth and the strength to realize the potential within ourselves to see it through. Amen!

Christmas is not over! Merry Christmas!

[12/02/13]   "Advent is here. What a marvellous time in which to renew your desire, your nostalgia, your real longing for Christ to come — for him to come every day to your soul in the Eucharist. The Church encourages us: Ecce veniet! — He is about to arrive!" - St. Josemaria Escriva #LTdailyinspiration

[12/02/13]   Happy New Year, everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend with family. There couldn't be a much better way to start this new season of our lives. :-)

Advent, this powerful liturgical season that we are beginning, invites us to pause in silence to understand a presence.

It is an invitation to understand that the individual events of the day are hints that God is giving us, signs of the attention he has for each one of us.

- Pope Benedict XVI (11/28/09)

[11/10/13]   Hello CSD Young Adults,

Our retreat is next weekend, and God is bringing all of the pieces together. We have great speakers including Fr. Miguel, Fr. George Nursey, Fr. Jorge Torres, and Fr. Benjamin Lehnerz, as well as an incredible emcee in Blake Britton, a seminarian with the Diocese of Orlando. For those that do not know Blake, he is an incredible guy who loves his faith, most especially the Mass.

Here is why Blake says this retreat is so important: The purpose of this retreat is simple: to help us realize that as Catholics, we have the answer to all of life's questions waiting for us in the Holy Mass. In this incredible gift of our Church, we come to find our true selves through the amazing grace of Jesus Christ alive in the Eucharist. If you desire to grow in an understanding of this truth and why it is so transforming, I invite you to join us for this retreat so as to deepen your passion for life

The planning team hopes that many of the young adults in our parishes decide to join us. Registration will remain open until next Wednesday and payment can be made online at the following link: https://sjvorlandochurch.weshareonline.org/YoungAdultRetreat.

The retreat flyer can also be found here: http://www.sjvorlando.org/Portals/0/SJVOrlando/Faith%20Formation/Young%20Adults/CSDYA%20Massive%20Adventure%20Retreat%20Flyer.pdf.

Pope shares pastoral advice for clergy, and personal advice for newlyweds

Pope Francis with advice for priests and bishops on moving beyond our comfort zones to preach the Gospel: "Don't let prejudice, habits or rigid mentalities stop you" Avoid saying "We've always done it this way" as an excuse for change. And a little off-the-cuff advice for newlyweds: "Argue as much as you want. If the plates go flying, so be it. But never let the day end without making peace." These comments came in Assisi yesterday.
