Great service! Thank you! That was an excellent sermon! I missed worshipping with people in person, but I'm glad we could feel connected via this Live Stream. Thanks for all who helped get this together! It was a blessing! Have a great week!
We still need a few volunteers to provide meals for the Kolbrich’s. Will you be the blessing they need?

With your help we have raised $61,420 and have qualified to receive the $60,000 matching grant. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for the ministry in the coming year. We know that when He provides abundantly, He will also reveal His plans for this great blessing. Thanks Avalon for your support and faithfulness.
I hope it's ok to post this here: Looking for a host family for a 20 year old male Valencia student from St Petersburg, Russia, who is here on a scholarship from the US Ambassy. From immediately - until May. You'll be compensated! Please contact me asap if that might interest you. He's a wonderful, kind, polite young man, I had him for 3 weeks in summer but my house is full otherwise I'd take him back in a heartbeat. He is at a UCF dorm right now but the agency decided to move the international students to families; just so you know there wasn't a problem with him. He is always up for a discussion about Christianity and not opposed to attending church (unlike Russian Orthodox).
Hi we are Christian family owned business we been in business for 19 years and do commercial or residence property please give us a call if interested in a quote or booking an appointment
Please pray for my friend Kathy as her son Josiah was found face up in a pool in the Dominican Republic - he's in the hospital, alive, eating! Please pray for healing and restoration for Josiah along with peace and grace for herself. Thank you!
Pastor Don's message was perfect and necessary. Loved it!!!!

This is the official page of Avalon Church. Live, Learn, Work, Play….and Worship! Avalon Park was built on the rich traditions of small-town life and among the integral parts of small-town life in America are the places where the community gathers to worship.

Avalon Church is located in the heart of Avalon Park. The church building is easily recognizable; just look for the steeple rising above a classic pillared entry. However, no matter how traditional the building, when you walk inside you will experience a family-like greeting, an exciting time of vibrant worship and a teaching time right out of the Bible.

Mission: Avalon Church is a non-denominational church with a vision and desire to serve Avalon Park and the surrounding communities of Stoneybrook, Eastwood and Waterford Lakes.

Avalon Church,

Like so many of you, I cannot stop reflecting on the events that happened in the U.S. Capitol yesterday. I watched with disbelief as “patriots” stormed the capitol building, breaking windows and threatening police officers to enter Senators’ personal offices and meeting spaces while our elected leaders hid in fear for their lives. This happened in the United States of America?

But I think what breaks my heart the most were the pictures of “Jesus 2020” signs and the “Christian flag” arrogantly on display by the rioters. Is this what Jesus wants from his people? Is this the example Jesus lived?

Well Jesus has a lot to say about that.

Several months ago, Pastor Jim and I had several conversations about what the preaching series should be in January. After a lot of thought and prayer, I decided to do a lengthy series looking at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. It appears to be good timing (thank you, Lord).

As I was studying for the introduction yesterday, the riots broke out in the Capitol. I was unaware of the events for several hours, but as I began seeing the videos and articles, I couldn’t help think of Jesus’ concluding words his sermon:

““Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.””
Matthew 7:24-27 NIV

With the events of yesterday, it feels like the rain is coming down and the house is falling because of sandy foundations. And so often Jesus’ name is being attached to the destruction. But Jesus’ famous Sermon offers real pictures of how we are to live as Kingdom-people. I think the next few months are going to be some of the most important teachings from the Bible that we have ever discussed. Jesus flipped upside-down everything people believed about God, family, politics, and justice. He revealed how we are supposed to live as his followers…, and it is challenging to say the least!

As we begin this study together, I ask you to pray for our country - may God give wisdom to our leaders during this divisive presidential transition. And I ask that you commit to reading through the Sermon on the Mount with us beginning with the passage above to prepare your heart for Sunday. But I also ask that you make it a priority to join together with your Church family on Sundays as we go section-by-section through Jesus’ Sermon that changed the world one heart at a time. It still can. May it start with us.

May Jesus be glorified in our lives together!
Pastor Don

God With Us - Skin Matters | PART 3

God created a family that eventually rebelled and ran away. But God wanted us back and was willing to do everything necessary to make that happen... even incarnation.

Series: God With Us
Speaker: Pastor Don Dodge
Scripture: John 1:14, John 1:1-5, John 1:9-13, John 1:9-11, John 1:12-13,
Resources: https://www.avalonchurch.org/sermons/god-with-us-skin-matters-part-3/

Notes:
1. Tu es special

2. "Incarnation"

3. "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." -John 1:14 (NIV)

4. "The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son," -John 1:14 (Msg)

5. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." –John 1:1-5 (NIV)

6. "The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him." –John 1:9-11 (NIV)

7. "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God." –John 1:12-13 (NIV)
