Hello College Park Ward! Me and my sister are looking for a possibly 1-2 more people to live with us for cheaper rent. We have a apartment in mind but we also want to look at houses to cause I have a cat that must live with us. For information about us please message me. This is for Fall semester it’s really early but we want to book a place as fast as we can because my sister is going away for internship over the summer.
Hello! I am new to the UCF area after having lived in the Dr. Phillips area for the longest time. Looking for a new ward. What days of the week and times do your weekly activities take place? (i.e. fhe, institute, etc?)
My personal "take away" from Stake Conference this weekend involves service. How could it not? We were reminded of an oft quoted scripture. "And behold, I tell you these things that you may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God. " Mosiah 2:17 I've heard this hundreds of times as I'm sure you have too. But this felt different. After hearing it, another scripture came to mind. "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child,I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." I Corinthians 13:11 I feel like we've (I've) been called to grow up a little, to be more God-centered, to put away childish things. I know from being the recipient of much service that this is not new(s) to many of you. Now, how does this relate to preparedness? Like clockwork, hurricane season is upon us. We WILL be hit with another storm, if not now, then later. WHEN the emergency happens, we will either be part of the problem or part of the solution. IF we are part of the problem, resources will have to be funneled in our direction. Someone will have to provide materials or service to help US. IF we are part of the solution, we set ourselves up to be in a position to help our brothers and sisters, so resources that we may have needed can be channeled to someone else in need. Get ready. Buy tarps, water, shelf stable food, flashlights, batteries. Have a generator on hand with plenty of fuel and some long, heavy duty extension cords. Check on your neighbors and friends and encourage them to prepare. We cannot rely on FEMA for relief, for at least a few days after a major event. We need to 'grow up' and put away childish expectations. We can prepare so that we can serve and minister to our friends, neighbors and loved ones.
Don't miss "In Emma's Footsteps," coming to AMC West Oaks for a very special Family Home Evening on May 21st. The film will start at 7 p.m. and end about 8:40. Any previews will be shown earlier, before 6:30. The theater opens at 5 p.m., and I am hoping to have Poke Pioneer or other activity or a talent show for those who arrive early. This film is by the same producers who brought us Singing With Angels. It was filmed on location in Nauvoo with the cooperation of the Church. Tickets are only five dollars. Proceeds will go to support missionary work. It shows what life was like for Emma Smith after the martyrdom of Joseph. She was a single mother in a hostile place at a time when women could not own land or even vote. BYU history professors ensured that this is an accurate and inspirational drama. We are the first group to see it. It won't open in Utah until June. Let me know if you want to entertain us with hymns or songs before the film starts at 7. If you like cosplay, feel free to come in your pioneer clothing. We prefer that you buy tickets online, but we can sell them at the door too.
