Don't Meet Me There; Beat Me There!

[07/29/15]   CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LEADER:
1. Will always focus on responsibility not rights, serving not power, and obedience not taking sides (Joshua 5:13-15).
Yahuweh doesn't come to take sides, He comes to take charge. A leader knows how to take charge, not out of their own will, flesh, or emotions; but out of the well-being of others through Yahuweh's eyes and not man-kinds fleshly wants. There influence is directed toward the benefit of others according to the standards of Yahuweh, even at self-expense, unlike contemporary leaders who uses their influence for self-aggrandizement. They will stand firm on the Word of Yahuweh and will not change it to please men. When a leader walks in this realm of authority, people in their flesh will get hurt; yet those in the Spirit will grow in maturity.

2. Walks in Yahuweh's wisdom (Proverbs 8:15; 20:8; Luke 2:40).
Wisdom is different than mere knowledge. The wise leader can see farther than others. Their spiritual discernment is what sets them apart as His leader. In this people will never understand the things a leader does, especially when they are looking from a fleshly looking point. This means knowing well the spiritual principles found in the Word of Yahuweh and how to live by them and model them. It means having the same attitude that was in Yahuwshuwa Messiah while you are giving godly counsel to others.

3. Walks in integrity (Proverbs 16:12; 29:4)
Personal integrity is demonstrated by who we are and what we do when no one is looking; It is also who and what you do when everyone is looking. Choosing between your relationship with Yahuweh and being popular with the crowd is a matter of integrity. Integrity will always go with Yahuweh and will always bring Him glory and not yourself. In other words, a good leader will not teach or live one way with their peers and another way with the people of Yahuweh; they will be the same person no matter whom the audience or what the venue.

4. Walks in Yahuweh's love and not man's love (Proverbs 20:28; 27:5).
How we love is more important than what we know or achieve. The Pharisees in Yahuwshuwa's day were religious but unloving. People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. A leader who doesn't love, who isn't concerned about the well-being of the people, doesn't have the Heart of Yahuweh. This does not mean that they are moved by the people's fleshly emotions/ sin but they must know how to balance love and discipline and know how and when to walk in either by the leading of the Holy Spirit. True love will not allow one to continue walking into a ditch of sin but will turn them in the other direction no matter how much the other will hate them for it.

5. Seeks godly counsel (Proverbs 11:14; 25:4-5; Psalms 1:1).
A good leader knows when they cease to listen to wise (Godly) counsel that they will start to stray from being able to acquire more knowledge in Yahuweh. So an effective leader needs advice and seeks advice. The ability to listen to the advice [when that advice does not compromise the Word of Yahuweh] of others is the mark of a great leader. Every great leader needs a trusted adviser.

6. Walks in self-control (Proverbs 28:15).
The leader who cannot control themselves will not be able to command the respect of those they lead.

7. Walks with compassion (Proverbs 29:14).
Yahuwshuwa is the ultimate model of taking time for the poor, the outcasts, and children. He was naturally drawn to the weak who needed an advocate. That is why Ya'aquv (pronounced Jacob, changed to James) teaches us that pure religion is to look after orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27).

8. Has NO need for public approval (Proverbs 29:25).
The greatest freedom is having nothing to prove and no one to impress. Good leaders are more concerned about pleasing Yahuweh than their popularity with others. The desire for honor among men makes trusting Him impossible. The leader who has his eyes on receiving the praise of men are not focused on obeying and pleasing Yahuweh.

9. Moderation (Proverbs 31:4-5).
They know how to do things in moderation and not overindulge themselves. They also know when it's time to take a break and set aside time for rest and refreshment. A godly leader is teachable and knows they must find time to refresh their spirit and grow their mind.

10. Has the ability to delegate (Numbers 11:16-30).
A leader must know how to trust the people and be able to delegate task to the appropriate people. They know the key to delegation is identifying the strengths of the people to serve in the fields help is needed. Delegation proves to the people you trust and believe in them and also frees up your time to focus on higher things in Yahuweh that should not be delegated.

11. Is a good learner and communicator (Proverbs 16:16).
A good leader should always be learning, growing and improving. The day you feel there is nothing left to learn is the day that pride and arrogance have taken root. They know how to communicate clearly to the people and openly share their ideas and life. When a leader is truthful with the people, they grow in their ability to trust them and embrace the vision.

12. Submits to Yahuweh (Proverbs 16:1; 21:1; Acts 4:19; 5:29; Hebrews 10:5).
This is the most important characteristic of a good leader. When a man or woman is submissive to Yahuweh, He will direct the person into the ways he can glorify Him best. Leaders need to be led by a cause greater than themselves and lead imitable lives (1 Corinthians 4:16; Genesis 1:26-27). they will inspect their life in the light of the Word of Yahuweh daily and in relationship with other God-fearing brothers and sisters.

[07/28/15]   CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT

1. Threatened by prophetic leadership
Prophetic leaders is the main target of concern. Although such people will seem to have prophetic gifts, their aim is to actually control those who move in the prophetic realm.

2. Refuses to admit guilt or wrong
A Jezebel spirit is never wrong, unless it is a temporary admittance of guilt to gain "favor" with someone. To accept responsibility would violate the core of insecurity and pride from which it operates. When a Jezebel apologizes it is never in true repentance or acknowledgment of wrongdoing but rather "I'm sorry your feelings were hurt." When confronted, these individuals will become defensive. They will justify their actions with phrases like, "I'm just following God" or "God told me to do this" or "I didn't do anything wrong."

3. Takes credit for everything
While a strong trait of Jezebel is to never take responsibility for his wrong actions or behavior, it also is quick to take credit for benefits for which it contributed no effort.

4. Uses people to accomplish its agenda
The Jezebel spirit always has impure motives, these individuals will seek out others, desiring to have "disciples," needing constant affirmation from their followers. It lets others do its dirty work. The Jezebel gets another person's emotions stirred up, then lets that person go into a rage. The Jezebel sits back looking innocent, saying "Who me? What did I do?" This behavior makes it difficult for even the most ardent truth seekers to pin one down. The Jezebel spirit is clever in its agenda, Seeking to gain popular and pastoral endorsement, such individuals will form strategic affiliations with people who are perceived by others to be spiritual or influential with others. Such individuals may also take advantage of someone's poor memory by twisting their previous prophecies to make it seem as if their words have come to pass.

5. Withholds information
This is a form of control. A Jezebel wields power over you by knowing something you don't know in a situation. In the eyes of a Jezebel, having information you don't have is a powerful weapon of control.

6. Talks in confusion
It is impossible to converse with a Jezebel in logic. One pastor wrote a six-page letter to his elders about a situation in the church. The context was so vague that no one was without confusion. This is a way to maintain control and domination. When confronting a Jezebel, the subject may be changed five times in one minute. Confusion keeps them "undiscovered" and unexposed.

7. Volunteers for anything
A Jezebel volunteers in order to establish control. It seemingly has endless (nervous) energy and eagerly looks for opportunities to be in charge of projects. Although it will work hard, its motive is never pure, and eventually its secret agenda cannot be hidden. They are very eager to gain control, it will gather others and seek to teach them. While the teachings may begin correctly, "doctrine" is often established that is not supported by the Word of God.

8. Lies
A Jezebel lies convincingly. No one can lie better than they can. They can turn on the charm and make you believe blue is red. It always fools those whom they just met while those who have been victimized by its tactics stand by helplessly. The fact that Jezebel can look you in the eye and lie just shows how strong and adamant this rebellious and recalcitrant spirit is. It will deceive others by soulish prophecy or by giving words that someone wants to hear, these individuals seek to gain credibility. They prophesy half-truths or little known facts, as though they were from God.

9. Ignores people
A classic ploy of a controller is to ignore you when you disagree with them. This tactic is frequently used by leaders when someone doesn't agree with their plans, and they isolate the person by ignoring them. Some in these situations have been ignored for months, just because they chose not to be a puppet and say to every idea or whim. This puts the person out of the leader's grace and forces them to either "come around" to the leader's way of thinking or be indefinitely ignored. One is not free to disagree with a controller.

10. Never gives credit or shows gratitude
A Jezebel will rarely acknowledge another person's actions, not even for something that turned out to greatly benefit the Jezebel. It just cannot bring itself to say thank you or to acknowledge that someone else did something right. There are those who have gone out of their way to bless a Jezebel by being the catalyst of sending them on a trip or giving a gift. Yet never will there be a thank you. This again puts the controller in a position of power.

11. Criticizes everyone
This is a characteristic of a controller. It has to be the one who looks good, so it will quickly sharply criticize anyone who makes a suggestion or plan. Even though it likes the plan, they can only criticize it because the idea did not originate from them. Criticizing others elevates the controller in its own mind.

12. One-upmanship
A person with a Jezebel spirit will always upstage another person. It feels threatened by anyone who dares to steal the limelight or anyone who is a threat to its power and control. If you are with such a person and tell of your accomplishment or victory, you can be assured it will quickly tell of something it has accomplished.

13. Sequesters information
A Jezebel loves to be in control of information. If there is ever a situation where information is important, it will push to be the "first" to know it. it seems to know everything about everyone. Where it gets all his information is beyond comprehension, but it can dictate to you data and details about people's lives and actions in mass quantities.

14. Uses information
A Jezebel uses information as a leverage for power and then shares tidbits with you, often things told in confidence. This gives it a sense of power, even to the point of trying to impress people by "knowing things" that others do not.

15. Talks incessantly
Many people talk habitually, but a Jezebel uses talking as a form of control. In a typical conversation, it does all the talking, whether it is about sports, the weather or the Kingdom of God. Because of this form of control, it is unable to receive input from anyone in its life. All conversation with it is one-sided. You are doing the listening.

16. Spiritualizes everything
When a controller is confronted, it commonly spiritualizes the situation, explaining it off on God. This prevents it from owning up to responsibility required of it. The implication is always, "You've got a problem; I don't."

17. Is insubordinate
A Jezebel never takes the side of the employer or a person in authority, unless it is a temporary action to make itself look good. It often will take credit for someone else's idea. Its main desire is for power and control. There is no conscience when an opportunity for recognition presents itself.

18. Is pushy and domineering
A person with a Jezebel spirit pressures you to do things, seemingly ripping from you your right to choose or make a decision for yourself. It makes others feel as though they don't have enough sense to think for themselves.

19. Is clairvoyant
Many who operate with a spirit of control also have a clairvoyant spirit. A Jezebel has supernatural help in knowing and sensing information. If it uses this against you, it may say "I can't tell you how I know this. I just know it." This is not the Holy Spirit, but the help of a clairvoyant or familiar spirit. Clairvoyance may be defined as the power to perceive things that are out of the range of human senses.

20. Uses the element of surprise
A Jezebel's main thrust is to be in control, and a large part of control is catching you off guard. Therefore, the element of surprise works well when it shows up a day early for a meeting, etc.

21. Sows seeds of discord
A Jezebel will continually belittle another person in the most subtle way. The strategy is to "gain" control by minimizing the value of another person. It is common for it to tell half-truths to implicate another person in your eyes. By sowing these seeds, it hopes to eventually reap a harvest of destruction, improving its position of power. Desiring to avoid accountability, these individuals prefer to pray for people in isolated situations-in a corner or in another room where they can not be heard by others. Thus, innuendos and false "prophetic" words cannot be easily challenged.

22. Commands attention
A Jezebel likes to be the center of attention and doesn't like to see others recognized and lauded. When it receive initial recognition, it often respond with false humility. However, this trait is short-lived. When someone else is recognized, it will quickly undermine the person's accomplishments verbally. To increase its favor, such individuals often zero in on a pastor and church staff, and then seek to find the weakest link in order to subdue them. Its eventual goal is to run the church.

23. Is vengeful
Since a Jezebel is never wrong, if you contradict or confront one, get ready to become his worst enemy. As long as you are in agreement with it, all is fine. But if you confront or challenge it, then look out. You are the target of its fiercest venom. A Jezebel will stop at nothing to destroy your reputation.

24. Attempts to make you look like you're the Jezebel
A Jezebel spirit is difficult to pin down. If the person is near to being confronted, it will skillfully twist the entire situation, trying to make the innocent person look like the one who is attempting to control. As always, the Jezebel will do anything to look like the one who is right.

25. Insinuates disapproval
A Jezebel will often imply disapproval to those under its control. The controlled person feels no freedom to express an opinion, for fear of disapproval. This often manifests in a marriage or in a working environment.

26. Knows it all
A Jezebel is usually blatant regarding its knowledge of everything. Quick to express its opinion in any area, it leaves little room for anyone to point out the other side of an issue. It has made idols of its opinions. It will mask poor self-esteem with spiritual pride, these individuals want to be seen as the most spiritual ones in the church. It may be the first to cry, wail, or mourn-claiming a burden from God. However, it is no different from the Pharisees who announced their gifts in order to be seen by man.

27. Is ambitious
The Jezebel has strong desire, but all for self. "I want what I want when I want it," describes its worship of self-will. A Jezebel leader will never use the words, "We have a vision," but rather, "My vision is thus and so."

28. Gift giving
Gift giving is a form of manipulation a Jezebel uses that always makes you feel obligated to it. It also compromises the victim in speaking direct and confrontive truth. Naturally, not everyone who gives gifts is guilty of control, but gift giving is a tactic used by those who have a need to control.

29. Is independent
No one has input in a Jezebel's life. It fraternizes with no one unless it is to get you to "cooperate" with its agenda.

30. Is religious
A Jezebel dwells in the local church but doesn't like authority unless it is in the position of authority. To appear spiritual, such individuals will seek recognition by manipulating situations to gain an advantage. Such individuals often conjure up dreams and visions from their imaginations, or it borrows them from others.

31. Will always go above/around the set authority
The Jezebel will often allege having great spiritual insight into church government and affairs, but it will not appeal to proper authority. Rather it first appeal to others. Often its opinion becomes the "last word" on matters, thereby elevating its thoughts above the pastor's.

32. Family life is shaky
Usually its family life is shaky. It may be single or married. if married, their spouse is usually weak spiritually, unsaved, or miserable. It begins to dominate and control everyone in the family.

33. Hides
We all want to believe that the person with a Jezebel spirit is delivered. The person may seem "normal" for a period, exhibiting none of the classic traits. Then suddenly without warning a situation will arise, once again with the spirit taking control and wreaking havoc over lives.

Hopefully, true repentance will come. Only then will the person be delivered.
