HAPPY NEW YEAR. This is when Santa Claus met Jesus.

"To make disciples of Jesus Christ, for the transformation of the world."

Today, the Word of God and the saving message of Jesus Christ is still changing lives. The Grace of God is ever moving into our hearts into greater closeness with Him, as we strive to co-operate with the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to fulfill the commandment to love God, love our neighbor as our self, and to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Now in our 68th year, we are proud to say that though the methods have changed, the message of God's grace and love still remains the same. It is our prayer that the saving and life changing message of the radical love and grace of God continue to be preached, and modeled in all of our lives, and that we reach out to the lost and hurting with the love of Christ, both in word and deed.

GOOD MORNING~ In the space between the edge of night and the busyness of a new day, there are a few quiet first moments given.
These moments are sacred.
Savor them. Protect them. Be blessed by them.
Begin each day in prayer, receiving the love and grace waiting for you. Lift up your worries, frustrations, and fears.
Handover all the heavy things that don’t make sense, knowing God’s God, and we are not.
Then give thanks, because joy comes simply from knowing our amazing powerful God is walking with us today.
Let go of yesterday. Be willing to be a beginner each new day and start fresh. Every morning hug and kiss all the people you love in your house (including your pets).
Keep your eyes open for Holy humor, beautiful things, and those that are hurting. Use your words and your gifts well to make a difference. Speak truth in love. Extend grace.
Morning routines are critically important. They help us focus, set intentions and build momentum, setting the course of each new day! Don’t be so worried about what’s ahead of you or behind you that you forget the gift of this day! TGIF❤️

The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church

Dear Clergy and Laity of the Florida Conference:

Our cabinet formed a re-launch task force to begin looking at how we can help resource churches as they prepare to re-launch during COVID-19. We solicited input from you and received thousands of responses. Our initial guidance is downloadable below for your use. These guidelines will be regularly reviewed and updated. We have consulted government officials and health experts and will continue to review the latest guidance.

In summary:

► Churches should plan to continue to offer on-line opportunities until a vaccine is readily available, knowing that many people will not feel comfortable returning to worship until that time.

►We ask that no in-person worship services take place through June 15th. The actual date for when in-person worship services will resume is still being determined but we know it will be after June 15th.

►We give guidance on some alternative worship models that could be attempted starting May 15th including house worship and drive-in worship. These require strict safety guidelines and should only be attempted in places where volunteers and staff are ready to monitor and enforce the guidelines.

►We invite you to begin preparing for what in-person worship may look like after June 15th. We know you will need to adjust worship plans to allow for safety and social distancing. Detailed descriptions are provided for a variety of worship logistics. Walking through the logistics with key volunteers and staff will be essential.

►We suggest you form a re-launch task force of lay and clergy leaders to explore how you will work through these guidelines in a way that honors your context.

►At all times we encourage proper social distancing, hand washing, the wearing of masks, and for sick persons or persons who have been in contact with the virus to remain at home. We are especially concerned that those most vulnerable to the virus be vigilant in the days ahead.

Also in this document are guiding principles and scriptural foundations. We offer this guidance from a standpoint of our faith that calls us to love our neighbors and care for the most vulnerable.

Our rationale for a no sooner than June 15th date include:

►Relaunching in-person worship presents a significant effort on behalf of church leadership. June 15th allows them enough time to prepare worship spaces and gather and train the necessary volunteer base.

►By June 15th, we will have clearer results from the reopening of the state of Florida to guide us in our decision making.

►Many in our state and in our church communities are part of the most vulnerable populations. Our clear guidance from the feedback we have received is to err on the side of safety.

We will continue to monitor the realities in our communities and adjust our guidance as needed.

Should you have specific questions, please reach out to your District Superintendent who can guide you.

May God continue to walk with us in this season. We pray now for those who are sick and all our front line workers who are keeping us safe.

We remain on mission together.

Do you have or are you a senior in High School graduating this year? We want to celebrate you during Graduation Sunday on May 24th. Send us a photo and a sentence about post-graduation plans to [email protected]

This is one of my favorite moments from our Family Worship Sunday service yesterday at 10am. Of course, because my daughter Makenzie did such a great job, but also it reminds me that God is always at work- making a way when we just cannot see one--replacing our fear with hope for a brighter future... May God's Holy Spirit refresh you, encourage you and bring you peace today--oh yeah, and "May the 4th be with you" as well. :)

We will be having virtual Communion during our 10am service this morning. Now is a great time to get your elements prepared. Don’t have bread or juice? Don’t worry, coffee and donuts works too.

Have you seen all the LOVE BIG yard signs filling up our neighborhood? One of our awesome parents had the great idea of giving our kiddos something to do when we’re out strolling the neighborhood. A scavenger hunt for LOVE BIG Signs! When you spot a LOVE BIG sign in someone’s yard, spread the love by putting a sticker in the corner of the sign! Pick up your special heart stickers from the Community Garden behind the Red House at CPUMC and then stroll down Harvard, there are a lot of signs on that street 😉 What a fun way to keep the kiddos entertained and spread the LOVE! Thank you Amanda Leonhardt for the fun idea!

Good Morning God...
Thank you for walking with me today. Give strength to the weary. Give hope to the frustrated, lonely, and lost. Give wisdom to our leaders. Give patience and grace to parents, husbands, wives, brothers and sisters, partners, roommates and families.
Provide direction and encouragement for all students and teachers.
Heal our world. Heal our people, heal our loved ones, our neighbors, our grandparents and all those who are sick, suffering or broken-hearted.
Lift us up today Lord, all of us.
May we find your joy, rest, focus, and holy humor that comes from being in your presence. So thankful your faithfulness is new every morning and that you are my given. Through sunshine, rain or a crazy pandemic I know you are with me, for me and ahead of me with love and grace for today.
For that I give you all my praise~
In Jesus name

Stay well, be blessed and know you are loved today ~

College Park United | Creating Loving Space Where All Belong

Pastor Merrill's Keeping it Real...

My heart has been wrestling with so many emotions, what about yours? The highs and lows, the joys, sorrows and loss seem to weave our days together more than ever right now.

The isolation makes us lonely, the zooming makes us weary.
I love eating together night after night, but I'm tired of cooking and dishes. I miss personal contact, but I also enjoying not having a pressing schedule. I find myself wondering what day is it today most mornings, then quickly reminded this is not a vacation. I go from comfort eating to thinking I should train for an Iron man. I can get things done in my own time in running shorts with no make-up, except when recording my parts for our Sunday worship services all dressed up, alone. I miss my community, hugging and holding hands with those I love. But in the quiet and waiting, I feel God holding me.

"Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!" Psalm 31:24

Easter Sunday I asked our church to ponder how will they rise as the world slowly begins to open. Who will be be as followers of Jesus? Isn't it weird that this all happened around the Lent and Easter Season. Sheltering has felt a bit tomb-ish to me, what about you. Thank goodness there are always treasures found in the trash piles and tombs of our lives.

One thing is certain, nothing changes the character of God.
As you know our faithful God makes all things new and turns them for good when we trust in Him. Nothing can separate us from His great love, mercy and grace, not even this virus!

We are starting a new Sunday Series called Plan BE this week.
You see, when our Plan A's don't work out, what matters most is what we do with it. Who will we BEcome?

I hope you can join us at 10:00 am Sunday here on our page or on YouTube at College Park United.

Trust In You

"This song was inspired by the book of Job. I was texting a friend of mine to see how they were doing. She told me about Job. She said He didn't hold tight to things but to God and through his suffering he still praised God. Job goes on to say "I came into this world with nothing and will leave with nothing. It all belongs to God. The bridge to this song is Job 27:3-4. For tonights devotional read it. Its easy to praise God and have faith in God when things are going well. Can we be more like Job in this time of suffering and uncertainty? Can we praise God during our suffering? "

Brady Bunch style staff meeting!

Hi Parents,

How can we pray for your children this week? Comment below and we will specifically pray for your children and family this week.

This time of uncertainty is just as hard for our children as it is for us. When you check in with them, encourage them to cast their cares on the One who cares for them (1 Peter 5:7). God promises to never leave us or forsake us. So we can be sure He hears us, and delights in us when we call on Him.
