Hi! Can you please recommend a hotel within walking distance of Shul?
So now I"m thinking, maybe I should also contact Chabads about talking.
My Story REBBE’S ADVICE FOR OUR TIME: When Christie Whitman ran for Governor of New Jersey in 1993, promising to establish school vouchers, friends in Morristown and I joined with New Jersey activists to help her win. As lower middleclass, large families, we were all struggling to keep afloat financially, and desperate for help with our tuitions. Although Whitman won the election, and appointed a committee headed by former Governor Tom Kean to develop a school voucher plan, nothing came of it. In her two terms in office there was not a single bill sponsored to establish parental choice in education. We learned early on that universal school choice, to empower all parents to send their children to the school of their choice, for much less than current costs –as proposed by the late, great economics Professor Milton Friedman in 1955- was considered by all political pundits to be “politically impossible.” Standing in the way was a hidden government -the Progressive Ruling Class- some of which has now been exposed as the Deep State. They control Congress, much like puppets on strings, only instead of strings they use money and positions of power. Those who play along are enriched and empowered, and those who don’t are dealt with accordingly. No one in Congress would dare stand up to them. When Senator Ted Cruz, in 2016, was the first in Congress -in over six decades- to follow Friedman’s advice and sponsor a universal school choice bill to empower all parents in the U.S. Capital, the District of Columbia, to send their children to the school of their choice, Congressman Mark Meadows was the only one in the House of Representatives to join him in sponsoring the bill! Cruz soon came to be known as “the most hated person in Congress.” The Ruling Class did all they could to oppose his candidacy for President in 2016. It was during this presidential campaign that we learned of a newly found video of an address by the Lubavitcher Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, which had been missing for 33 years. This was a one-hour address, of July 1981, regarding the critical failures of America’s educational system, resulting from changes that had taken place about two decades earlier. A severe schism had developed, the Rebbe explained, between public schools and traditional faith that had served as our nation’s founding, and was the tradition of most families. This resulted in an educational system in conflict with family values, leading to an elevated level of communal strife and a steady increase in crime. The Rebbe went so far as to say that he had suggested this to the longtime Attorney General of New York. The changes in education were rooted in the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Engel v. Vitale (1962), which did away with the voluntary nondenominational prayer in New York Public Schools, and caused our country’s educational system to turn sharply to the left. This also laid the groundwork for our current “Political War of the Century.” With the Progressive Ruling Class having the keys to our government’s purse strings, by way of public employee unions, Americans can no longer rely on our public officials to fix the problem. This needs to be done by the voters of America. The challenge we face is how to empower the American voter to force a change in Congress? Providentially, the small Chabad community of Morristown, New Jersey, is rich with talent. My dedicated friends came up with a simple website that empowers ALL Americans to turn their votes into powerful weapons to replace all “Progressives” in Congress with “Certified Constitutional Candidates.” Americans can now mobilize their fingers and quickly see who among their candidates stand for the Constitution at www.c3candidates.com. Every Member of Congress can now become certified as a “Constitutional Candidate,” by simply signing onto the proposed “Civil Rights Act for Equal Educational Opportunity,” which restores in great measure the principles and mandates of the Constitution of the United States and Declaration of Independence. With a record 2,100 candidates vying for the 470 seats now up for election in Congress, we can surely find an overwhelming majority of “Certified Constitutional Candidates” to set our country back onto the Constitutional Track, and usher in a new era of domestic tranquility, prosperity, liberty and justice. Which brings to mind an oft repeated instruction of the Rebbe: “Place your fingers to the task and the Holy One, blessed be He, will do the rest.”

Candle lighting for women and girls today at 7:39pm.

Today and Tomorrow is Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of the new month of Iyar.
In Hebrew The name of the month is an acronym for “אני ה׳ רופאיך. I am the L-rd, your healer”.
This is a month that G-d’s power of healing shines.

This is because the Manna began to fall as food for the Jews in the desert this month, and it healed the people as well. Since then, G-d’s healing remains in power this month each year.

May this month be a time of healing for all.

jewishorlando.com We hope you and your loved ones are in good health and spirits. Taking precautions and listening to medical advice will save lives. At the same time, panic is counterproductive. We all need to continue living and thriving while taking reasonable measures. As Jews, we know that G‑d Al-mighty has no...

From Rabbi Moss , Sydney, Australia.
Question of the Week:

This coronavirus thing has really thrown me. I feel like I've lost all sense of certainty. No one knows what will happen next. How do we stay sane when we don't know what's lurking around the corner?

Answer:

It is not that we have lost our sense of certainty. We have lost our illusion of certainty. We never had it to begin with. This could be majorly unsettling, or amazingly liberating.

This tiny virus of 125 nanometres* has sent the entire world into chaos. All of our plans are up in the air, markets are going crazy, entire countries shutting down, and we have no clue what the future holds.

But that is always the case. We never know what the future holds. We only think we do, and keep getting surprised when things don't pan out the way we expected. Now the mask is off. We have to admit our vulnerability.

What will happen next? We don't know. Our experts don't know. Our leaders don't know. Only G-d knows. And that is the point. Only G-d knows.

Close your eyes and feel the uncertainty, make peace with it, let yourself be taken by it. Embrace your cluelessness. Because in all the confusion there is one thing you know for sure. You are in G-d's hands.

Keep calm. Panic and fear are also contagious. Take every precaution as advised by health authorities. Wash your hands well. And every time you do, remember whose hands you are in.

Good Shabbos

Each month, on the Jewish calendar, we celebrate Rosh chodesh: the start of a new month, after the moon wanes to the point of disappearance. Thus Rosh Chodesh celebrates the concept of perpetuity—not withstanding life's peaks and plunges. So too, it is the woman who – through her steadfast faith – ensures our nation's survival; it is she who ensures that no matter how much we wane, we will always be renewed.
Last night we were 50 women strong, as we painted and enjoyed delicious food, and even better company! Thank you artist Daphna, and the Jewish Women's circle of South orlando for another spectacular event!
