Faith Over Fear | From Pastor David Ferguson - (March 24, 2020)

A Message:
Faith Over Fear | From Pastor David Ferguson
https://youtu.be/Jb0VKjPxqNA

[03/23/20]   A word from our Pastor:

I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to hold on. Although you may be entering un-chartered waters of life, I want you to know that God has not forgotten about you. God still has His eyes on your plight and His hands on you. God is constantly navigating your path even though you may not be aware of it.

If you’re reading this message, then you’re a perfect example and living proof that God has brought you through every challenge, over every mountain and across every river in your past. All you have to do is, “Be Still and Know that He is Lord”

[11/18/18]   The message today was, "God's Good For It"

So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hands. Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled. Joshua 21:43-45

[07/13/18]   Remember that God will definitely not put more on you than you can handle...

[06/18/18]   Trust In the Lord
Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

If we were to tell the truth this morning, trusting in the Lord is more difficult and rarer than we care to admit. Of the many who claim to trust in the Lord, only very few actually do. There is no intent to deceive but trusting in God comes with a level of difficulty that few people are truly able to overcome. More people desire to trust in God, it’s just that it’s not that easy. Trusting in anyone or anything is easy when you don’t really have to. It’s easy to trust when there is no situation in front of you that requires you to trust God. In actuality, that type of “trusting God” is only in word and not deed.

The fact of the matter is that most of us claim to trust God as long as things are going well. Authentic trust is revealed when we’re in a less than ideal situation. It is there that our trust is put to the test. It is there that our trust deeds have to align with our words.

Solomon addresses this proverb to one of his four sons. Solomon, who we count “wise” understood the need to impress upon his son the need to trust God. Solomon was very much aware that there would be times in the life of his children when they’d need to be able to lean on and trust in God.

We are no different than Solomon’s son. There are times in our lives when we need to lean on and trust in God. Our problem is that we tend to half-heartedly trust in God. Again, we claim more trust than we actually have or do. Solomon was very aware of our shortcoming as it relates to trust in God, so he makes it very clear. We are to trust God with “ALL” of our heart. Trust is not some half-hearted act. It is really all or nothing. It’s either you trust God, or you do not trust God. If your trust is predicated on some physical or carnal condition, then you really don’t trust God with ALL your heart. Please don’t miss the fact that trust involves your “Heart”. IOW – There is an internal component or aspect that is foundational to trusting God.

Secondly, Solomon understood that for us, our knowledge has a way of interfering with our ability to trust God. For some of us, the more knowledge we acquire, the less we trust in God. We tend to rely more on our minds or education than God’s providence. Yes, our minds cause some of us to lack the basic foundational trust that we should have in God. Solomon warns his son and us against this carnal trap. He instructs us to lean not unto our own understanding. Our understanding is limited, but God’s knowledge is unlimited. He knows all things at all times. God’s omniscience is far greater than any amount of knowledge that we can acquire through academia.

Lastly, Solomon instructs his son and us to acknowledge God in everything we do. He says, “In all thy ways, submit to God and God will direct our paths. IOW – If we can infuse God in all that we do, then the possibility of us going down the wrong path is greatly reduced or mitigated. Wrong paths or directions don’t occur “with” God, they occur “without” God.

Be Blessed,

Rev Ferg
