SEAS Steubenville Conference
We would like to thank the parent(s)/guardian(s) and youth for an awesome weekend. We hope that each of the youth had a great time in Missouri.
During our time there we were able to attend daily mass, participate in praise and worship, listen to different speakers and most importantly, be before our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration.
We learned that God thirsts to have a relationship with us and we must strengthen our relationship with him by make a resolution to ensure we do not fall back into the same ol' routine as we did before we went.
In efforts to build/continue our relationship with God and his kingdom, we are having a TEEN ACTS retreat. A Teen ACTS is a 4 day retreat centered around Adoration, Community, Theology and Service hence the name ACTS. Teens will have the opportunity to hear personal talks from Youth their age on how they have built their relationship with God. The retreat will begin this Thursday with a closing mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Sunday. If your teen or you know a teen who is ready to continue on to build their relationship with our God, please contact Johnny Aldas (575) 312-2047 or Deric Valdez (325)212-2483.
[07/13/16] Food bought ✔, fire on ✔, grills hot✔, tables set✔ all we are lacking are the 105 individuals and their families to join us tonight at our send off meal and prayer service. See you tonight at 7PM at St. Elizabeth Youth Building.
[07/11/16] St. Elizabeth Ann Seton will be going to Steubenville Mid-America beginning this Thursday at midnight. We have 3 male spots which includes 1 young adult or 1 adult and 1 female youth spot. Cost is $350 but we have a flexible payment plan. Again, we will depart at midnight on Thursday and return early morning Monday. On Thursday, we will view the Oklahoma City National Monument and that evening we will attend the Moses play at Sight and Sound theater, the largest Christian based theater in the country in Branson, MO. We will then make our journey to Springfield, MO on Friday for a weekend where we will experience our great Lord at work with 2000+ youth from around the country. Springfield is one of many Steubenville conferences held across the country. If you or someone you know would like to attend, please call Deric Valdez at 325/212-2483. If you aren't able to attend, please keep the 105 individuals who will be traveling to MO in addition to all other youth and chaperones in your prayers.

Jesus Christ's Passion and Death
http://lifeteen.com Mark Hart, Executive Vice President of Life Teen, shares the details of Jesus Christ's Passion and Death.
WHAT IS SIN?
“But the snake said to the woman: 'You certainly will not die! God knows well that when you eat of (the forbidden fruit) your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, who know good and evil.’ The woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and the tree was desirable for gaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.” —Genesis 3:4-6
“Man, tempted by the devil, let his trust in his creator die in his heart and, abusing his freedom, disobeyed God's command. This is what man's first sin consisted of. All subsequent sin would be disobedience toward God and lack of trust in his goodness.” —Catechism of the Catholic Church 397
Our reading in Genesis 3 can make us wonder about God. If God is all knowing, then why did He put the tree there in the first place? Didn't He know Adam and Eve would eat from it? If God was all- present, where was He when they were tempted? If God is all-powerful, why did He let this happen? And what's so bad about eating from "the tree of knowledge of good and evil?"
Well, Adam and Eve already knew what was good and what was evil because they were created in the image of God. So what did the fruit offer? Listen to the words of the serpent: "You will be like gods." The tree didn't offer the ability to see what was good and what was evil. It gave the ability to choose good or evil.
In other words, things that God says are wrong, we can say are right. Things that God asks of us, we can deny. We start to justify things and convince ourselves that we are right and God is wrong. Adolf Hitler murdered millions of Jews, Catholics, and others – yet biographers say he never felt guilty. Why? Because he convinced himself that what he was doing was right.
In sin we decide to become our own gods. We ignore the Creator and follow our own selfish desires. It's a rebellion against God, but we actually end up hurting ourselves. God can live without us, but we can't live without God.
When we turn against God, He has every right to turn away from us. But He never does. He loves us so much that He gives us a way to overcome even the worst sin in our lives.
God wants a relationship with us. A real love relationship can't be forced, it has to be chosen. God had to offer us a choice that is, FREE WILL. That's why the tree was in the garden. That's why He allowed us to eat it. He allows us to freely choose what we want, in the hopes that we will freely choose Him.
Pray for an awareness of sin in your life and offer those sins up to God. It is only when we say we're sorry that we can hear the words "I forgive you." And if you haven't gone recently, you should go receive the wonderful graces offered to you in the sacrament of Reconciliation.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Freedom is a wonderful gift when it is handled with responsibility. Not being under law is such a sweet grace, but we want to pass that sweetness on to each other through service, kindness, and care.
O Great God of Deliverance, thank you for rescuing Israel from Pharaoh's grasp, David from the sword of Goliath, and Daniel from the lion's den. But O Great Deliverer, thank you most of all for the triumph of Jesus over sin at Calvary and his victory over death at the empty tomb. I long to see you face to face and thank you for my freedom. Until that day, guide me as I use this gift of liberation to serve you children and live for you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
