[11/19/20] THE MOUNTAIN ANTHEMS CONCERT SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY EVENING HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO COVID CONCERNS. After talking with the director of the group, it was mutually decided for them not to come on Sunday night. We regret not being able to host them, especially with the group disbanding, but feel that this is the right decision in light of the virus right now.
Some upcoming events at Mt. Joy that you might want to plan to attend:
This upcoming Sunday night, at 7:00 PM, we will be hosting The Mountain Anthems (rescheduled from the Spring). This will be part of their "farewell tour" as the group will be disbanding. We have tried to host them once every other year if possible. You will want to come to hear them one last time!
Next Wednesday night, the 25th, we will be having our annual Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:00 PM. Though this has been quite an unique year and for some of us our Thanksgiving celebrations may look different this year, we still have so much to give thanks to our great God for. Plan to come out as we seek to give thanks to Him together!
For these two events, the same social distancing practices will be followed as are in our Sunday morning worship services. The wearing of masks are strongly encouraged for the safety and peace of mind for all. Hope to see some of you at these services! If you have any questions, please see Pastor Lee.

What a week it has been! Talk about a real nail-biter that keeps you on the edge of your seat with so many twists and turns! We still find ourselves waiting to discover who will be the president for the next four years. We may be waiting another week or so for that matter depending on how things may go. Recognizing that a number of you might feel a bit anxious right now or worried about the results of the election, whatever they may wind up being when everything is said and done, I want to send a word of encouragement to you. In light of the possibilities of how things might turn out, I think that it would be good for each of us to read through the book of Daniel. (I personally started to do so on election night when it became apparent that we would not know the winner by the end of the day and have been continuing through the book the past couple of days since.) In that book, we are reminded that regardless of who may occupy the earthly throne (or who is in the Oval Office for that matter), God still reigns over them and has the final say in all that happens down here below. That there is a much greater Kingdom coming that will topple every earthly kingdom in history; the kingdom of God’s Messiah (see Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in chapter 2). And as John Piper has so well pointed out, America and its politics will just be a footnote in history one day when this greater Kingdom eclipses it. Let’s be sure that in all this election fervor we don’t lose our perspective. The results of this election are indeed important but not of utmost importance and not consequential for all eternity. It will not in any way hinder this greater kingdom that is coming. Nothing and no president can thwart God’s will and the bringing about of this promised kingdom (Job 42:2).
And I can guarantee you that however the election eventually goes down that it will not mark the end of Christ’s Church. Remember that Jesus said “upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it” (Mathew 16:18). The church has survived, and even thrived, by God’s grace, under wicked godless rulers such as King Herod and Emperor Nero (the one who set the city of Rome on fire and blamed it on the Christians and who was responsible for the beheading of Paul) as well as today under Kim Jong Un in North Korea and President Xi of China (thankfully we are not experiencing yet what our brothers and sisters in the Lord are in these countries but, even then, the church continues to grow in light of it). The church will survive and continue to grow under either four more years of a President Trump or four years of a President Biden.
Let me share one final thing that has come to my mind as, like you, I have been reflecting on these things the past few days. I noticed on Tuesday night when I was putting John to bed, rocking him while I sang a hymn, that there was no anxiety on his face about the results of the election or any worries about his future. Of course, at the age of one, he would have no comprehension of such. What I did see though was a peace and calmness as he rested in his father’s arms. He felt safe and secure as his daddy was with him and cared for him. The thought then hit me. That is the very attitude that we as Christians need to have. Not being anxious or worried with what is going on right now but at peace and calm, resting in our Heavenly Father’s arms, knowing that we are safe and secure with the One who cares for us. I confess that I far too often need such a reminder. Perhaps some of you out there do as well at this moment.
So, keep the faith and seek to rest in the very capable hands of our Sovereign God. He is in control and ultimately His will will be done. And regardless of how things turn out, He still rules from His throne in heaven! In a day of uncertainty we can be certain of Him! We as a church also continue to have a job to do in sharing the life-saving and life-changing message of the gospel! That will not change no matter who may be in the presidency and what he determines to do.

[10/14/20] Just a reminder that there will NOT be Bible study tonight due to Pastor Lee being away preaching for a revival in OH. We plan to resume our study in Romans 15 next week, Lord willing. Pastor Lee should be back late Thursday evening.
[10/07/20] We WILL be having Bible study tonight at 6:30 as Pastor Lee's dental appointment originally scheduled for this morning was moved to tomorrow morning. So, he should not be in any pain or have any trouble teaching tonight. Tomorrow afternoon might be another story but that won't effect tonight. Hope to have many of you come out to join us as we continue our study in the book of Romans!

[09/08/20] Pastor Lee is back on duty today after an eventful and restful sabbatical! If there is anyway that he can serve you at this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to him and let him know. He plans to be teaching Bible study tomorrow night at 6:30 and will be in the pulpit again this week. While he enjoyed the time that he was given, he certainly did miss his church family. He hopes to see many of you soon!
