GCR Church of Christ

GCR Church of Christ

Shocking and sad news: Two of my longtime friends, formerly members of the Golf Course Rd. Church of Christ in Midland, were both put in Hospice this past week and not expected to live. Please pray God's perfect peace and comfort upon David Hair, now living in Dallas (in his 40's/collapsed lung and blood clots) and Phyllis Carter Edwards, now living in Brownwood (fast, aggressive cancer) and their respective families. Very unexpected. Thank you and God bless! UPDATE Saturday morning: Phyllis Carter Edwards went to be with the Lord around midnight. Prayers of comfort for her family and friends.

Thank you so much to our GCR family who dropped baby gifts off on our porch yesterday! It was an awesome surprise blessing for us as we are preparing to become a family of 4. Our baby boy, Ezra James, is going to be here June 24. We appreciate you taking care of us in this way! 🥰
Church- If your live stream has been skipping, I encourage you to go back and watch/listen to the message. I fully believe that Satan has interfered, as he does not want you to hear the message. Thank you, Ryan, for letting God speak through you.
Love the Daddy Daughter Dance.
I sent this to a few of you but it strikes such an important cord in my heart I'd thought I'd share. This poem meant and means so much to me. It was always read during the humming chorus of "My God and I" by the late great Walter Kreidel and other Church of Christ song leaders (no such thing as praise teams back then). Just beautiful words and meaning and Walter's booming bass would never be forgotten by anyone who heard it. The power of the internet has caught up with my search and I found the poem, the author, and wanted to share.
Thank you for the Parents Night Out! It was fun!! The prayer was a blessing too!
hello brothers God bless the whole church. God is great and your children are victors, may the peace of God be with you all. I beg you to pray for me and my family since in recent days my mother died a faithful Christian and spiritual mother of many Christians I also beg you to pray for my father so that God will protect him and not be consumed by the sad
We aren't Dairy Queen but, our Sundays are awesome!
I am beginning a new Sunday morning class on Feb. 10, 2019 on Spiritual Warfare based on Joe Beam's book, "Seeing the Unseen". I would like to invite all ages to attend this class. This will be a great study into how Satan tempts us and tries his best to snatch us from the safety of God's arms. We will be meeting in Room 103 in the Family Center. l am excited about this class and look forward to a great study. Please come and join me for this great study!!!

The mission of GCR is to Love God, Love People, and Change the World. We love Facebook, but recognize it has its limitations. It's great for providing basic information, but not so great at hosting discussions on theological topics.

Therefore, posts that attempt to do so, will be removed. However, the staff and elders welcome live discussions.

Mission: The mission of GCR is to Love God, Love People, and Change the World.

Operating as usual

In remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr today, let us genuinely find ways to love people no matter who they are. May we live up to his legacy of promoting love and not hate.

No kids or youth classes tomorrow, we will kick those off next week! There will be kids worship during service for 3-year olds-kindergartners.

2020 is almost over. Spend some time thinking about what you want 2021 to look like. How do you want to grow in Christ? What are some goals you have for the new year? How are you going to love like Jesus in 2021?

Praise God for some west Texas snow!!! Everyone stay safe and warm out there.

See you tomorrow (in person or online) at 10am. All the Advent candles have been lit so come hear an encouraging message from our own Tim Neale.

This is our FINAL Elder highlight post! What a better way than to end it with Barry Thomas! He has been so awesome at helping lead us through our time of transition throughout all of 2020. Thank you Barry! Here are 3 unique facts about him:

1. I have a Petroleum Engineering degree and a Masters of Divinity degree.
2. I have been a member, Bible class teacher, ministry leader, minister and elder at GCR.
3. I have performed a wedding in front of 40,000 people.

[12/14/20]   Yesterday we lit the Advent candle of JOY! Here is a clip from our 2016 GCR Kids pageant bringing you some joy today!

Let’s help Mission Agape with some of these needs. You can also drop off at the GCR office and we will get it where it needs to be.

We’ve got a seat saved for you tomorrow (in-person or virtually) as we continue our Advent series! Tod Brown will be bringing a message on JOY! 10:00 am worship service and no kids/youth Bible classes.

Praying that you experience the peace of Christ this season.

We are collecting funds for our special collection all this week! These funds are separate from our normal budget and go to support GCR families, KWO (Kenya Widows and Orphans) Ministries, and Teen Challenge. You can send in checks or give online at gcrchurch.com/giving (make sure to choose the "special contribution" fund).

We had some much fun in person and online creating Christmas masterpieces at our annual Mother/Daughter Cookies and Canvas! Thanks to everyone that helped make it a success! See you next year!

We can't wait to see you in person or online tomorrow as we continue our Advent series! Tod Brown will be bringing a message of PEACE! 10:00 am worship service and no kids/youth Bible classes.

We can't wait to see you in person or online tomorrow as we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent! Jason Allen will be bringing a message of HOPE! 10 am worship service and no kids/youth Bible classes.

If you’re interested in supporting the Mission Agape Toy drive you can drop off or have toys delivered to the GCR church office!

We hope you can support our Toy Drive. We've done this for the past 8 years and the joy it brings is priceless!

This year it's our hope to bless 250-300 children!!

What makes our event special is the parent gets to select the toys for their kids. This is the best way we know how to show love to a parent who struggles with the fact they can't afford to buy gifts.

Help us remove this worry for them! Thank you!!

We are now on VENMO!! Yay!

In this year especially we want to say how thankful we are for our GCR family, our Midland community, and all of God’s blessings. Happy Thanksgiving!

Joy in Trials

Dr. Jerry Taylor brought a powerful and challenging message to us last Sunday. Here are some hi lights from his sermon. Listen to the full message at gcrchurch.com/sermons

Did you see our Christmas tree in the South Rotunda yesterday? It was beautiful! Thank you so much to the volunteers that set up and decorated!😁🎄

The Advent season is almost here! Advent is a time to prepare for celebrating the birth of Jesus at Christmas. This year, GCR families have put together a daily devotional book to help us look forward to the celebration of Christ entering the world! The Light of the World devotional book walks through different stories of scripture starting on November 29 and ending December 25, all looking forward to the birth of the Messiah. Pick up one of these books for your family starting this Sunday at out 10 AM service (no kids/youth classes this week) or swing by our office to pick up your copy.
This Sunday, we are excited that Dr. Jerry Taylor will be bringing our message in service. Dr. Taylor is a gifted preacher and we know you'll be blessed by him. Join us in person or online @ 10 am.

This week’s Elder highlight is Eddie Lee! We’re so thankful that he is on our elder ship, here are three of his favorite activities:

1. Spending time with my grandkids
2. Traveling with Carol
3. Fishing

THANK YOU! Thanks to everyone that donated and served at our Thanksgiving Community Blessing. We were able to pack 140 boxes for 100+ families and pray over so many of our neighbors. Praise God!!! We love our partnership with Mission Agape!

This weekend our Merge (5th and 6th graders) put together care packages for some of our nurses at Midland Memorial Hospital. We are so thankful for our front line workers and we are praying for God to keep them healthy and safe.

Tomorrow is going to be a great race day for Kick 4 Kenya! Can’t wait to see everyone on our campus and support KWO!
