Came to spend some time in prayer at the cross today. When I sat down beside the cross this thorn poked me in the hand. I think God was trying to remind me that his son Jesus wore the crown of thorns and went through so much while here on earth, but that God was there the entire time. That he is king, our father and our savior and that he will never leave us or forsake us.

Friends and family no matter what you are going through in life know that God is always in control. Even if we don't understand why things happen, put your trust in God. He is a way maker, a pain taker and a chain breaker.

If you ever need someone to talk to don't bottle it up, you can call me at any given time and I will be here for you. I love you all.
I have enjoyed listening to the church service at Crestview today. I am looking forward to the gathering of our Sunday School class on Sept 27th. Welcome back to our Easter devotional series!

“At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ which means ‘My God, my God, why have you abandoned Me?’ Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought He was calling for the prophet Elijah. One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to Him on a reed stick so He could drink. But the rest said, ‘Wait! Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save Him.’ Then Jesus shouted out again, and He released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart…” Matthew 27:45-51 NLT

Key Thoughts:
Matthew 27 tells us of the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday nearly 2000 years ago. In today’s video, we talked about three events that happened while Jesus was on the cross that have special meaning to His followers:
3 hours of darkness - vs. 45
The Temple curtain torn from top to bottom revealing the Holy of Holies - vs. 51
An earthquake - vs. 51

Questions to Think About:
“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” Romans 5:6 NLT
According to Romans 5:6, why did Jesus have to die?

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”
Romans 10:9-10 NLT
How do we become followers of Jesus (saved from our helplessness) based on Romans 10:9-10?

Consider becoming a follower of Jesus today by acknowledging your sin, Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, and making Jesus your Lord (the leader of your life).

If you took this step of faith today, tell someone you know and trust about your decision!

Welcome back to our Easter devotional series!!

The Thursday Before - Truth & Peace

Let’s take a look at John 16. In this passage, we see Jesus talking to his disciples about what is about to take place. We see some of them getting a little worried about what He is telling them! But let's break this down into some applicable concepts.

#1
Verse 13: The spirit of truth will guide us

In today's world, we see so many confusing things that may go against our biblical beliefs, or that can tempt us to get off track! Since we live in this world, we need the spirit to guide us - to help us make decisions that honor God.

#2
Verse 20: We will have sorrow

Jesus says, “the time will come when you will weep and lament, when the hour has come and the world will rejoice. But I will see you again! And your hearts will rejoice.” Know that with our faith, hard times can come in our lives.

#3
Verse 24: “Ask” and you will receive, and your joy will be full
This is good news! Because when we look at our lives, we all need number #1 (the spirit of the truth). So if you're struggling, just ask God for guidance, and He will fill you with His truth!

Reflections
What steps can you take to allow the spirit of truth to guide you?
What are some things that have caused you sorrow and pain? Really think about it, pray that God can help you be honest.

Read Verse 33
Apply this verse to your week:
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” ESV

Welcome back to our Easter Week Devotional series! Let’s take a look at Luke 21:37-38
“Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and every evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives. The crowd gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.”
The Mount of Olives was Jesus’ meaningful and special place to be alone with God. With all the pending chaos that was about to happen, Jesus took time to rest and prepare for the week.

Questions to Reflect

Where is your meaningful place to commute with Jesus?

How can you be intentional with planning your time alone with God?

Today can be a day to pray, a day to cherish our families and those close to us and a day to rest. Make your choice and go for it!

Easter Week Devotional - Tuesday

Welcome back to our Easter Week Devotional Series! If you haven't seen Monday's video yet, be sure to check it out first! Check out the video and reflect on the thoughts and questions below. We'd love to hear from you!

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him. ‘Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.’”
- Matthew 24:42-46

Key Thought:
What do you do to be prepared as you approach each new day? For most of us, our parents, teachers, and friends were a large part of preparing us to get up, go to work and be a productive part of society. It’s an ongoing process.

Questions to Think About:

How are you preparing to live for Jesus every day?

Are you helping others by sharing that Jesus is the answer to being spiritually nourished?

Do you approach each day asking God to show you what you need to be doing for His kingdom?

Easter Week Devotional - Monday

Welcome to our Easter Week Devotional series; join us throughout the week as we explore what Jesus did each day leading up to Good Friday. Please watch the video and take the time to reflect over the thoughts and questions below. In case you missed it on Monday, here is the first day of the devotional series!

“Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 ‘It is written,’ He said to them, ‘”My house will be called a house of prayer,” but you are making it “a den of robbers.”’ The blind and the lame came to Him at the temple, and He healed them.”
- Matthew 21:12-14 NIV

Key Thoughts:
1. Anyone can come to Jesus. It doesn’t matter if you are blind/lame, it doesn’t matter if you are living in a way that would dishonor God’s will. Jesus does not discriminate, and His love extends to everyone. No matter what your background is, no matter your past mistakes, no matter what state you are in, anyone can come to Jesus.

2. When you encounter Jesus, He will change your life in the exact way that it needs to be changed. Sometimes, that means He overturns your life choices. He flips the tables and benches of your walk because He knows how desperately they need to be changed. Sometimes, it means that Jesus heals and restores the parts of you that are broken or sick. No matter the circumstance, Jesus will change your life, and it is always for your good. That’s why our mission statement here at Crestview is that we want to help people experience life change through Jesus Christ.

Questions to Think About:
What do I need Jesus to overturn in my life? How can I make sure my decisions are honoring God’s will?

In what ways do I need the restoration and healing of Jesus?
