The Weary Warrior
Did you fall into bed tonight a weary warrior? Are you heaving a huge sigh of discouragement and exhaustion... unsure whether any souls were enlightened, or victories won in your struggles today against the enemy's ever-present onslaught?

Did your day seem fruitless, or filled with missed opportunities? Are you pondering why you should even bother to regroup for battle tomorrow?

Instead of surrendering to the enemy's tactics of self-defeat, consider this: Take your eyes off today's circumstances for a few minutes and begin to relax in the simple omnipresent glow of God's love. Realize that He is not a demanding taskmaster, insisting we constantly prove ourselves through our accomplishments. As He has desired in His servants from the beginnings, He simply wants us to persevere, renewing our strength through His Word and His Holy Spirit within us, allowing our works to bear fruit in His season. Paul recalls this conditional promise: "And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart" (Galatians 6:9, RSV).

Recognize that you are not the first weary warrior in God's army, nor will you be the last. Don't allow the enemy to let you lose heart and, in God's time, you will become one of those victorious soldiers whose good works will reap a great harvest for our Commander.

Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together …
God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me:

Dear Father, I come before You tonight as a battle-weary warrior in Your army, but I claim supernatural renewal of strength and encouragement as only You can provide. I rebuke the spirits of weariness and self-surrender in Jesus' Name. Father, loose Your victorious power within me. Grant that my rest tonight be sweet, total and invigorating, so I may face tomorrow's battles heartened by Your promise of rewards in due season. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

[08/09/17]   Psalm 34King James Version (KJV)

34 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

[02/09/17]   God Cares and Listens
Wednesday, February 8, 2017

"Let the day perish on which I was to be born, and the night which said, 'A boy is conceived.' May that day be darkness; Let not God above care for it, nor light shine on it."
Job 3:3-4 NASB

Trying to understand why he was suffering, Job concluded that God did not care about him. He seemed to feel that God wasn't listening. But when comparing Job's comments with God's responses, we realize that God responded specifically to many of Job's specific comments. He proved He was listening.

While Job wished that he had not been born, God described His involvement in the birth process of all His creation (Job 39:1-4). Job described how everything felt dark to him, asking, "Why is light given to those in misery?" (Job 3:20). God responded, focusing on the importance of light, and how the role of darkness was restrained (Job 38:9-19).

Job described how he felt hedged in and limited (Job 3:23). But God acknowledged the limits that have been given to all people: "When I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther'" (Job 38:10-11).

In his complaints, Job commented about the stars of the morning (Job 3:9). God later described how "the morning stars sang together?" (Job 38:6-7).

Job referred to animals, birds, and fish (Job 6:5-6), and several of God's responses addressed His creatures (Job 12:7-10; Job 38:31-33). After Job raised the issue of the Leviathan (Job 3:8), God specifically commented about this creature (Job 41).

Yes, it can seem that sometimes God doesn't respond as quickly as we'd like. Sometimes it seems that He isn't listening. But the story of Job reminds us that He does listen. And that He really cares.

In your life, remember that God cares about you. He loves you, and knows what you are going through. And He is listening.

Today's Inspiring Prayer

Father, thank You for caring about me. Thank You for providing the help I need. Thank You for being with me through every situation. I trust in You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Higher Ground
Tonight, do you feel as if you are always having to "take a back seat"? Do you feel discouraged because others around you seem to be getting ahead, favored over you time and time again? Are you tired of being left out when it comes to promotions, God's blessings and success? Things never seem to go your way?

My friend, be encouraged because I have an invitation for you tonight to move on up to higher ground!

First, be sure you have your eyes off the people around you and are aware that true promotion, success and blessings come from God Himself. "For not from the east nor from the west nor from the south come promotion and lifting up. But God is the judge! He puts down one and lifts up another" (Psalm 75:6, 7 AMP).

Wait upon the Lord for His blessings and promotion. Be sure that self-pride is not your motivation. Don't place yourself where you really don't belong. Be patient with God's stages of preparation for forming the foundation for your promotion, success or even greater victories. Let Him work out any self-deception or pride that will hinder your effectiveness. Then watch Him work for you in a way that will exceed all of your expectations.

Be faithful in what you are doing. If we are faithful in a small place, He will make us rulers over many. Then, be prepared to move up to higher ground—His higher ground!

Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together …
God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me:

Father, I now see that You have greater things in store for me than I realized. Prepare me, complete the groundwork in my life, so that at promotion time I can be lifted up and honored by You, knowing it will not cause me to stumble in pride, but to be a fruitful blessing in the lives of others. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

[01/31/16]   PRAISE GOD!!! WE ARE BELIEVING GOD FOR AN UNBELIEVABLE OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THIS MONTH (FEB 2016). THE WALLS THE ENEMY HAS BUILD WILL COME CRASHING DOWN AND THE PROMISES OF GOD WILL USHER FORTH... IN JESUS' NAME!

[12/12/15]   Separate Yourself

Do you think of Jesus as a man who had family problems? Probably not. Yet, we know from the Scriptures that He must have had plenty.

Even when His very life was in danger, His own brothers, instead of helping and protecting Him, vented jealousy and contempt: "'Go where more people can see your miracles!' they scoffed. 'You can't be famous when you hide like this! If you're so great, prove it to the world!' For even his brothers didn't believe in him" (John 7:3-5, TLB).

How that must have hurt! But, while family strife can be excruciating and draining, Jesus' energy was never depleted. We might ask ourselves, "How did He handle all this in-house opposition and still stay of top of things?"

The key lies in one word, sanctification...meaning to be cleansed and set apart. From this we gather that Jesus refused to get entangled in their petty bickering and traps. He kept Himself set apart for the purposes of God in His life. As His children, God is telling each one of us, "...come out from them and be separate...Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty" (II Corinthians 6:17-18, NIV).

Total physical separation from your family is probably impossible, but mental, emotional and spiritual separation from the disharmony certainly isn't. With many family problems it's the only way out!

Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together …
God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me:

Dear Lord, thank you for setting me apart for fellowship with You. Let me dwell in You, rather than becoming entangled in unnecessary family discord. But help me not to be distant or unloving, for while You are my shelter from strife, You are also the source of life and love which I long to share with them. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

[09/29/15]   JESUS! OUR ONLY HOPE.

[07/27/15]   Deuteronomy 1New King James Version (NKJV)The Previous Command to Enter Canaan

1 These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain[a]opposite Suph,[b] between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab. 2 It iseleven days’ journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea. 3 Now it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the Lord had given him as commandments to them,4 after he had killed Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who dwelt at Ashtaroth in[c] Edrei.

5 On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying, 6 “The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. 7 Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboringplaces in the plain,[d] in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates. 8 See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them.’

Tribal Leaders Appointed

9 “And I spoke to you at that time, saying: ‘I alone am not able to bear you. 10 TheLord your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude. 11 May the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you! 12 How can I alone bear your problems and your burdens and your complaints? 13 Choose wise, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.’ 14 And you answered me and said, ‘The thing which you have told us to do is good.’ 15 So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and knowledgeable men, and made them heads over you, leaders of thousands, leaders of hundreds, leaders of fifties, leaders of tens, and officers for your tribes.

16 “Then I commanded your judges at that time, saying, ‘Hear the cases between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother or the stranger who is with him. 17 You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.’ 18 And I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do.

Israel’s Refusal to Enter the Land

19 “So we departed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the mountains of the Amorites, as theLord our God had commanded us. Then we came to Kadesh Barnea. 20 And I said to you, ‘You have come to the mountains of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us. 21 Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up andpossess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.’

22 “And every one of you came near to me and said, ‘Let us send men before us, and let them search out the land for us, and bring back word to us of the way by which we should go up, and of the cities into which we shall come.’

23 “The plan pleased me well; so I took twelve of your men, one man from eachtribe. 24 And they departed and went up into the mountains, and came to the Valley of Eshcol, and spied it out. 25 They also took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought back word to us, saying, ‘It is a good land which the Lord our God is giving us.’

26 “Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lordyour God; 27 and you complained in your tents, and said, ‘Because the Lord hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. 28 Where can we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our hearts, saying, “The people aregreater and taller than we; the cities aregreat and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.”’

29 “Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them. 30 The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, 31 and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ 32 Yet, for all that, you did not believe the Lord your God, 33 who went in the way before you to search out a place for you to pitch your tents, to show you the way you should go, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day.

The Penalty for Israel’s Rebellion

34 “And the Lord heard the sound of your words, and was angry, and took an oath, saying, 35 ‘Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land of which I swore to give to your fathers, 36 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked, because he wholly followed the Lord.’ 37 The Lord was also angry with me for your sakes, saying, ‘Even you shall not go in there. 38 Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39 ‘Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it. 40 But as for you, turn and take your journey into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.’

41 “Then you answered and said to me, ‘We have sinned against the Lord; we will go up and fight, just as the Lord our God commanded us.’ And when everyone of you had girded on his weapons of war, you were ready to go up into the mountain.

42 “And the Lord said to me, ‘Tell them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.” 43 So I spoke to you; yet you would not listen, but rebelled against the command of the Lord, and presumptuously went up into the mountain. 44 And the Amorites who dwelt in that mountain came out against you and chased you as bees do, and drove you back from Seir to Hormah. 45 Then you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.

46 “So you remained in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you spent there.
