This Sunday, we’re taking time in worship to remember we are part of a global church — more beautiful, unique and diverse than we can perhaps imagine. God’s table is long and there’s a seat for us all; he hears our prayers regardless of the language we speak. Our worship is an offering no matter the tune of our songs. We will be sharing more this week, but we hope you’ll join us for this special time of worship!

We love Wednesday nights!

No matter what else might be happening in your life today, look up. There’s still a big, beautiful blue sky. For just a moment, take a deep breath and remember you are loved by a big, beautiful God.

Remember these sea gulls from Finding Nemo? The ones who said “Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!” all the time? In his sermon Sunday, Pastor Steve invited us to consider what is forming us by answering a series of questions. One question starts with a counting challenge: How many times a day do you use the word my or mine? My possessions, my career, my time, my opinion, my ministry, my country, my political party… “It’s very hard to see your life with a sense of generosity if it’s all about my and mine. It’s very hard to respond to others with openness, compassion and empathy when we are preoccupied with what is mine.” Listen to the full sermon at fpcmid.org/sermons

We’re searching for two new PT people to join our ministry team. Must love kids, youth and Jesus. We would appreciate shares and tags and little hints dropped to friends who might be a good fit.

We remember… the sorrow and the loss and the fear and the sacrifice and the bravery. And we remember the way we came together. Let’s take a moment today and ask God who he might have us love today; a stranger whose bumper sticker annoys you, a difficult neighbor, an immigrant, an Uncle who votes differently than you. Whoever it may be, may we remember who we were in those days following 9/11 and may we be a people who love like we did then.

We're all a little broken, wounded, weary... We believe in the goodness of God, but sometimes our hearts aren't quite sure if it is true. Tomorrow at the Heart of the Father prayer conference, we're going to take one step closer to the God who loves us. We'll draw near, experiencing more of his wholeness and healing. If you can't come for the whole day, perhaps you could simply join us for the worship service at 4:30 in the Sanctuary. You never know how God might meet you in your most tender places... Find details on fpcmid.org/events ~ it's not too late to say you're coming for all or part of the day.

Our Discipleship Groups have started walking through the book of John together. What do we do in a DG? It’s simple: we read scripture, we listen for what God wants to reveal to us, and we try to walk it out together with a small group of fellow travelers. Check out fpcmid.org/adult for more details

We celebrated @gracebalmet today, our @hsmfpc director who is moving back to her home in Cali this week. Her last day at FPC is Thursday, so you still have time to say goodbye. We’ve LOVED having Grace here; she’s full of joy, insight, compassion and lots of love for students - not to mention a little extra sass and s***k, plus some good TikTok dance moves for good measure. We will miss you Grace! Thank you for loving and serving our FPC students; we can’t wait to see how God works through you in your next season of ministry.

This fall in worship we are pressing into the five key objectives our church leadership has discerned as priorities for FPC: Worship, Discipleship, Mission, Prayer, and Welcome. Over the last two Sundays we’ve explored what it might mean to “Equip all people to glorify and enjoy God.” Check out the sermons from the last couple of weeks on our website or download just the sermon audio. This week, we’re leaning into JOY!

For those who worship in our contemporary service, this past Sunday marked a special return to the Chapel. Join us at 9:15 next week! There may not be balloons, but when we pause in our week to worship, we grow more aware of the many blessings that rain down on us in the most ordinary and everyday moments.
