"A Memorial for All Time"
Who Is This Man
March 15, 2020
Luke 22:1-6

A memorial can be very impactful. The Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. is one of those. Jesus created the most significant and important memorial. One that is greater than any man-made statue or wall. Communion. Join us as we take a look at the Jewish Passover meal that became communion.

Memory Verse: After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:17-19

"Take the Second Chance"
March 8, 2020
Luke 22:1-6

Our days are filled with a constant stream of decisions - some can be life-changing and we can get decision-fatigue. Join us as we look at the five most common regrets and six people who might wish they could have a chance to change their decisions. The only one in today's message to have a second chance was Peter. Be like Peter - take the second chance!

"Why Does He Challenge My Comfort"
Luke 21:1-4
March 1, 2020

Have you noticed that Jesus talked a lot about money? One of the last times was to comment on the widow's offering in our passage. This week has been a hard week for many financially. Join us as we learn what Jesus says about our finances.

Memory Verse: "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicket. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful." Luke 6:35-36

"He Knows the Future"
Who Is This Man?
February 23, 2020
Luke 21:1-4

We need to heed these warnings from 2000 years ago from Luke 21:

1. Don't trust in human institutions - they are destined to fall.
2. Don't be deceived by false prophets
3. Don't be intimidated by intense opposition
4. Don't be complacent as you see the world falling apart
5. Don't be trapped into worldly pleasures

Join us as we learn more about these warnings from Jesus.

True Story
"Silent Night - Far From It"
December 22, 2019

The Christmas story is an amazing story that has been shared for generations. It was a Holy night, but, probably not silent. The magi would have been discussing the star. The shepherds were visited by announcing angels. Bethlehem was filled with people there for the census. Joseph's family wasn't quiet - they refused housing for Joseph and Mary. The stable wasn't be quiet as it was filled with animals, Childbirth is not quiet and a new born baby is not quiet. The shepherds coming to see the newborn baby, would not have been silent either. The Christmas story is Holy and we should not be silent - we should be sharing it!

True Story
"Jesus Came as a Ransom for Many"
Mark 10:35-45
December 8, 2019

Ransom in Biblical times did not refer to kidnapping but to slavery. A slave was at the mercy of the taskmaster until a ransom price was paid the slave was released. Ransom for us is for the slavery of sin. We are entangled in sin. We have been held in bondage since Adam and Eve. And, Satan is a brutal taskmaster.

Listen as we learn more about our ransom paid by Jesus.

Memory Verse: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45

True Story
Jesus Came to Fulfill the Law
Matthew 5:12-20

Our culture is spiritually diverse. One have of people under 25 do not participate in church, but are experimenting with other religions. We need more than "warm fuzzies" about our faith. We need a firm reason for our faith - to stand for our faith. Join us as we look at why the Christmas story can help us do this.

There is a big difference between "religion" and "Christianity" Religion is based upon philosophy, a system of morals and rules that we cannot keep. Christianity is based upon history, a relationship with a person who kept all the law for us.

Memory Verse - "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Matthew 5:17

November 24, 2019
Luke 18:35-43

Spiritual blindness also needs miraculous healing. Satan has blinded the mind of the unbeliever so that they cannot see the gospel. People who are spiritually blind do not understand the light. They do not like the truth. Join us as we learn about looking for the light and asking for what we need.

His Church - A Place Where People are Transformed
A Long Look At Jesus
November 17, 2019
Luke 18:18-30

Jesus brought God into our daily lives to transform us:

* from the darkness of sin into the light of His holiness
* from the coldness of selfishness to the work of compassion and giving
* from the evil activities of this world to an exciting fulfilling life in Jesus Christ and added to His kingdom

The rich young ruler walked away from being transformed. We can easily do the same and become spiritually impoverished.

A Long Look at Jesus
October 27, 2019
Luke 15:1-10

What is the purpose of the church? We can name the purpose of our jobs, but can you name the purpose of the church? It should be to share our faith, persuade people to come to Jesus Christ, to grow numerically and spiritually. All three parables in this passage address just that.

Jesus Describes His Church
Luke 13:18-35
A Long Look at Jesus - His Church Is...
October 13, 2019

In this passage Jesus describes how the church and its people should be. There are 5 characteristics:

1) A Growing Place - cultivating his church and people
2) A Saving Place - not all roads lead to heaven
3) An Inclusive Place - where all are welcome
4) A Persevering Place - keep going in the face of opposition
5) A Passionate Place - pursuing the lost with excitement

How are we doing today as a part of His church?

Memory Verse: "Someone asked him, 'Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?'" Luke 13:23
