PTF at MCS

Leading Students to Love God and Seek Truth

The PTF is organized for the purpose of supporting a Christ-centered environment that emphasizes spiritual, moral and academic excellence in the education of each student at MCS. The PTF is committed to leading by Christian example in areas of leadership, service, prayer, and fellowship while striving continually to maintain effective communication and a spirit of unity between parents, students and faculty.

To implement this purpose we seek to: 1. Be a resource for and provide opportunities to all families to serve in various areas that will compliment the goals of MCS, support the activities and programs of the PTF and promote the welfare of MCS students 2. Host school related events promoting fellowship amongst families, MCS staff and students 3. Foster a spirit of gratitude and appreciation by promoting various functions throughout the school year to recognize and encourage the MCS Faculty 4. Partner with teachers in areas that directly and positively affect student success 5. Pray daily for the families, teachers, students and staff at MCS 6. Provide financial support in ways that will supplement, but not substitute for, MCS’s responsibilities for the maintenance and operation of the school and for the materials and supplies necessary for the teaching of the students enrolled at MCS

Dear MCS Family,

I pray that this message finds you safe and healthy. As you have most likely heard, Gov. Abbott released new executive orders today closing all schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. While this saddens me greatly, as I was looking forward to seeing your children in May, I am thankful for and proud of all our teaching staff and administration who have successfully transitioned to online learning. We will continue online learning until May 21st. While we are still working out some kinks, I am blessed to have a team of individuals who are dedicated to the education of children, even in the face of significant trials and uncertainty.

We will be getting information to you soon regarding our plans for graduation ceremonies and other very important, previously scheduled events. May God continue to bless your family and our entire Mustang Nation!

In Him,
Jared Lee, Superintendent

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week at MCS! Our teachers are top notch! They have risen to the occasion during this pandemic as our learning has turned digital! The PTF is happy to provide our teachers with a dinner from Texas Roadhouse. Make sure you let your teachers know how much you appreciate them!#mcsstrong #onlinelearning #teacherappreciation

✝️He is risen indeed! What a mighty God we serve. #easter2020 #easterathome

Midland Christian School

Dear MCS Family,

As you most likely know, yesterday Gov. Abbott announced executive orders in response to the disaster declaration which closes all schools, including Private schools, until midnight of April 3rd. Therefore, as of today, we will remain closed until April 6th and will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated as decisions are made.

I do have a few updates I wanted to share with you:

- This year’s Musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, has been canceled. This saddens me greatly, but we believe that it is the right thing to do under the current circumstances and complies with the CDC, the Governor’s and Mayor Payton’s regulations/recommendations.

- The TAPPS Musical contests (Choral and Instrumental) have been moved to an online, recorded platform for this year. Mr. Broome and Mr. Jung will be in touch with the students this effects soon.

- We are currently unsure of how this closure, especially if it continues to extend, will impact the many events currently on our calendar, including Mustang Run, Elementary Programs, Graduation, etc. We certainly hope we can hold them, as scheduled, but we will reschedule, or find other ways to make them happen if at all possible, and will keep you updated as we know more.

- Some have asked if this closure will extend our school year into the Summer break. As of now, the answer is no, we currently plan to end this school year on May 21st, 2020. The TEA has released attendance requirements and our accreditation commission has followed suit. Further, we believe by delivering online learning, starting next week, we can justify the decision to stay with the current school calendar.

- I am tremendously proud of and thankful for the hard work your child’s teacher has put into preparing for virtual/online learning this week. I want to ask for patience as we all move into this new way of learning together.

I pray God’s blessing on you, your family, and our entire Mustang Nation at this time!

In Him,
Jared Lee, Superintendent

🌟🌟Updated Resource Retrieval Information🌟🌟

Dear MCS,

We are making one adjustment to the resource retrieval scheduled for tomorrow. Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking all MCS households, who have a member(s) of their family who are currently in quarantine, to get their child’s resources from school between 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., or ask another student/family to pick up these resources and leave them on your porch. Under CDC and health department regulations, no individual currently under quarantine will be allowed to come to the school during this time. See below for the updated schedule, including a specific time for households who have quarantined family members:

FIRST INITIAL OF LAST NAME
8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. A-C
9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. D-F
9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. G-I
10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. J-L
10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. M-O
11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. P-R
11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. S-U
12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. V-X
12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Y-Z
1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Households with Quarantined Family Members

Further, we are recommending all of the following CDC guidelines during this resource retrieval time, in an effort to protect our community and Mustang family:

1) Wash hands thoroughly before coming to the school and after you get home.
2) Do not have any physical contact with any other MCS family member while retrieving your child’s things and, if you bring your child(ren), please instruct them not to have any physical contact with other children or adults while at the school.
3) Please only touch surfaces that are specific to your child – desk, locker, cubby, etc. Depending upon the weather, we will have some entry doors propped open to reduce additional sources of common contact.
4) If you are feeling sick, please stay home. We will work with you to get your child’s resources in another way.
5) Classrooms will be open. Please only enter these rooms if it is necessary to retrieve your child’s resource materials and only touch surfaces that are pertinent to them while in these classrooms (desk, cubby, etc.).

Again, if you are uncomfortable or unable to retrieve your child’s resources tomorrow during the scheduled time, please reach out to your teacher, principal, or coach to make arrangements for a later time/date. Thank you all for your patience and prayers during this difficult time and may God continue to bless our family with health during this time.

In Him,
Jared Lee, Superintendent
