New Sermon Series: The Great Dance

In this video, Pastors Steve and Kurt introduce us to our next sermon series here at First Methodist Midland that begins this Sunday, May 31st. It is called The Great Dance, and yes, dancers will be involved! Join us in person or online at www.firstmethodistmidland.com or on Facebook at both 9 am and 10:45 am.

Our pastors also want to make sure you know that you are invited to their homes this Sunday for a three course pick up meal and quick hello as we begin summer. This is part of a larger event called, Ride and Go Seek, which is a driving scavenger hunt. ALL are welcome to participate in this event. Click here for more information. If you do not want to participate in the scavenger hunt, but would enjoy a meal and saying hello to your pastors, you are encouraged to go by their homes between 5:30pm and 7:30pm on Sunday, May 31st. See below for their addresses and the menu. Social distancing will be observed. Please come and invite your friends to follow you over in their vehicle. The food will be excellent and it will be great to say hi in person as we kick off the summer!

This Sunday load your car for a fun city-wide scavenger hunt!

• Meet at church in the north parking lot between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.

• Here you will receive detailed instructions on how to complete the Ride & Go Seek Summer Kickoff!

• We will have 3 levels – All levels include stops with food with all 3 pastors

o Level 1
For families with younger children (if they choose to do the shorter one)
This has 5 stops

o Level 2
For families or church members who want to do the longer courses
This has 10 stops

o Level 3
For people who only want to participate in visiting all 3 pastors’ homes for food & fellowship. The three stops will be as fallows.

- Pastor Melissa Shuler – Appetizers – 4703 Princeton
- Pastor Steve brooks – Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Chips – 3900 Fairwood Court
- Pastor Kurt Borden – Ice Cream – 5202 Sherwood

• Level 1 and 2 will have posters with a QR code to scan that will contain a video clue for the next stop

• Please register online at: https://firstmethodistmidland.wufoo.com/…/ride-go-seek-reg…/

• We want families to complete the scavenger hunt. However, what is most important to us is for your family to have fun while kicking off summer!

Public Worship to Resume this Sunday, May 17, 2020

In this video, Pastors Steve Brooks and Kurt Borden give an update about how our church is planning to resume public worship gatherings in light of the governor’s easing of coronavirus restrictions on May 17, 2020. Here is a summary:

Public worship will resume on Sunday, May 17, 2020, but in a very different way than we are accustomed. This is certainly a measured first step.

Only the Main Street Entrances will be used this Sunday. You are free to park anywhere you like, but you will be directed to the front of the building (west side) for access.

There will be a service at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary that is solely for people ages 65 and up and for those who are immunocompromised.

There will be a second service at 10:45 a.m. in the Worship Center. If that space fills to 50% capacity, you will be free to view the service on the screens in the Sanctuary. If you are more comfortable in the large sanctuary, you are free to start there as well.

We will continue to broadcast the 10:45 a.m. service on our website at www.firstmethodistmidland.com and on Facebook.

There will be no Sunday School, childcare, food, bulletins, etc.

We will continue to practice social distancing and honor room capacity restrictions as dictated by the governor. To the best of our ability we are following the governor’s Guidance for Houses of Worship during the COVID-19 Crisis. This is a fluid situation. We hope to hold to this plan for two Sundays and then reevaluate as we seek to take our next step to resume other aspects of our Sunday mornings together along with other areas of our ministry. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for any reason. We want to help!
