[04/26/20]   Work is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Most of the Child Abuse Awareness events have had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. The children that suffer from child abuse need our prayers now more than ever. The stress on our families due to layoffs, schools being closed, fear of the virus, fear of the unknown, and growing lack of resources has increased the likelihood of some children falling victims of abuse. Please help us pray for these children.

In our area, during this crisis we have had more and more children that have had to sleep in the CPS offices because of lack of placements for them. This means CPS staff have to supervise them 24 hours a day on top of their regular work load. Pray for staff that are putting in long hours and are being stretched thin. Pray for the children that are sleeping on a cot in the CPS office. They literally have no place to go and they feel disconnected and unwanted.

Sister Elsa is asking parishioners if they have duffel bags that can fit in an overhead bin in an airplane.

She is working with a homeless family who will be returning to their family in Michigan. They can only take a carry-on and need some soft sided duffel bag luggage. They need Carry-on duffel bags for three people, two adults and one nine-year-old. Please email Sister Elsa if you can help.

Eucharistic Parade this Sunday April 26!

St. Ann’s Catholic Church will have a special parade this Sunday from 2:30 to 3:30. Parishioners are asked to decorate their car and parade under the covered driveway while our Priests bless them with the Blessed Sacrament in a special monstrance. Our Eucharistic Parade will begin at 2:15 with a blessing from our parking area of Midland Memorial Hospital.

We are asked to enter the school black top parking lot from Texas Ave. Please line up in three rows. When one row empties, cars will be directed to enter that row and await their turn to go to the covered driveway. One row will empty to the driveway, one row will wait and one row will fill. Please stay in your vehicle.

You may wish to decorate your vehicle with signs, streamers or balloons. Get the kids excited about visiting Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament. Come and be blessed by our Lord. Hope to see you there.

Be sure to follow our St. Ann's Youth Social Media pages to stay up-to-date with news and different activities and videos for teens and for the family! Different videos are posted every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Hello All!

Join us as we ask our patron Saint to pray for all of our parishioners! We have created a pdf image of St Ann and are asking our parishioners to print it out, color it (or not) and display it in your window so that as we are all out and about for walks or running the few neccesary errands, we may see these images and be reminded that although our church is temporarily empty- our Church community is alive, well and praying for all of us!

The pdf is attached to this email, but it may also be found on our church website:

[04/16/20]   Dear Parishioners: April 15, 2020
May grace and peace be yours in abundance.” 1 Peter 1.2 I pray that you and your family had a wonderful Easter weekend! We are in some tough times, but Jesus has been victorious and shares his life with us. I once heard it said that even Good Friday didn’t destroy his weekend!
St. Ann’s Parish Pastoral Council met last night, on zoom of course. These dedicated folks are keeping on top of things and I am so grateful for their love and dedication to our parish. We spent a good amount of time sharing how the coronavirus shut-down is affecting us and our families, as well as the drop in oil prices and the economic situation.
The members expressed appreciation to St. Ann’s staff and volunteers making Care Calls to the elderly and to the priests for having Confessions and live-streaming daily Masses on Facebook. They would like to see this continue.
We highlighted what our religious education coordinators have been doing to keep their program participants engaged. We talked about the assistance to the needy in which the parish is
providing some help. First Communions, Confirmations and Rites of Initiation are all being pushed into the future; they will happen once we can re-open the church to the congregation again.
We noted the financial impact to the parish, not having the steady income from the collection. We are fortunate to have some savings to carry us through a few months; but we encourage people to give on-line if possible. We have applied for the government’s Paycheck Protection Program which will assist us to keep our employees, although we have not heard yet that our application has been granted.
Our Youth Activity Center construction is steady and our project to get ample water to the building has just been approved. The budget for the next fiscal year for the parish is being prepared and we are trying to plan for the Family Fair. Life goes on, by the grace of God!
Stay safe. Stay home. Stay in touch!
Msgr. Larry Droll
Pastor

[04/14/20]   Items needed for a needy family

Last month St. Ann’s was told of a mother and her mentally disabled son who were homeless and living on the Museum of The Southwest grounds during the rain and cold.
St. Vincent DePaul, Sister’s Charity and a dedicated parishioner placed them in a local hotel for about a month. Food was provided and they were safe.
An affordable housing arrangement was found for them. The young man gets 100% disability and the mom works when she can.(housekeeping).

What is now needed is some canned food, cleaning items a broom, mop and household cleaning items.

If you already have these at home and can spare a few items, please bring them to the Parish office Wednesday morning… Or let Sr. Elsa know when you can bring them.
