LCMS Lutheran Church in Midland, TX

GRACE ALONE. FAITH ALONE. GOD'S WORD ALONE. That Pretty Much Sums Things Up for Us. We believe that men, women, and children are rescued from sin by the undeserved mercy of God through His Son Jesus. Period. We stand on the Word of God that gives us the rule and norm for all belief and in God's Word we are made aware of our sin, and how Jesus has redeemed us from that sin. WE CONFESS THIS... I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. These words found in the Apostles' Creed, along with the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds have served as a summary of what the Christian Church confesses as we gather around the Word of God as we worship the God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. WE are PROUDLY... Lutheran. We are affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). As Lutherans we accept the Bible as the written Word of God and the Gospel or Good News of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world lies at the heart and core of everything we believe, teach, and confess. As a result we believe that man is saved purely by God's grace through faith alone, apart from anything we do to attempt to save ourselves. We believe that God the Father is so loving that He sent His Son Jesus to this earth to live, die, and rise to save us. God still shows us His love today as He works through His Word and also through the mysterious yet tangible gifts of baptism and the Lord's Supper. Having a great day with the youth. We wrote letters to different groups in need and have been playing ninesquare for much of the rest of the time.

One of the kids said, "I can't believe it has only been three days." #glorybound

[07/14/18]   Tomorrow, Sunday, July 15, 2018 is the day we are bringing items for our military. Here is a list of items and restrictions suggested by a parent of a soldier:

The following is what is needed by our troopers with our son in Afghanistan. Mini travel kits, Gatorade bottles ( small) or dry powder, blue or red flavors. Small individual packs of cashews, shelled sun flower seeds, can't spit seeds on ground. Mike and Ike's candy or similar in boxes. Baby wipes great for cleaning when showers aren't available. Any hygiene items, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is our chance to help our military far from home.

Yesterday we went to some awesome breakout sessions after morning worship. We have been talking about our lives, our struggles, and our victories.

We have been hearing about how God uses the different low points in our lives as points where he acts and shows his glory.

We had some fun in the game room and we were worn out at the end of the day.

Had a great day with some great youth, we are enjoying our time focusing on Hebrews 12:1-2.

Keep us in your prayers as we are enriched by the Spirit and by the fellowship we share.

[06/21/18]   A message from Pastor Williamson:

In light of the recent events on our southern border we remember all those who are in need. We are encouraged to pray without ceasing and this time is no exception.

We pray for the families that are separated that they may be reunited according to God's will.

We pray for all who make and administer our laws, especially our Congress, our President, and all those in Law Enforcement, that they may be granted wisdom and act according to the will of Christ.

We pray for all those who believe contrary to our own opinions, that we may remember to love them and put the most positive construction on everything.

We pray that in all things Christ may be Glorified remembering that all things will serve His purposes in the end.

We are all encouraged to read and meditate on Matthew 5 to hear Christ's words for our lives this day and every day.

We remember in our own failures, our anger and our frustrations, that Christ came into the world to save sinners, and that all who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God's Richest blessings on all homes and families.

Psalm 32:1

[06/16/18]   News from the Texas District Convention

Yesterday Pastor attended the second day of the convention. Some interesting issues were discussed:

1. The resolution concerning the powers of Church Discipline of the President of the Synod. This was approved.

2. The resolution concerning the potential roles of Specific Ministry Pastors. This resolution did not pass.

If you are interested in hearing more about these the convention workbook is online.

God's peace and keep the District in Convention in your prayers today.

[06/15/18]   Pastor Williamson spent yesterday at the Texas district convention. There were many pieces of business discussed but most importantly the officers of the Texas District.

The new district president is Mike Newman, keep him earnestly in your prayers.

Our new vice president for area A is Allan Eckert, pray for him to execute his office according to God's will.

The other 3 vice presidents are: Eloy Gonzalez, John Davis, and Mark Barz. God is Good for giving us these great men to serve the Texas District.

The day ended with a rich and powerful Worship service. God is Good for his presence in song and praise with those present at the Texas district convention.

Praise God for his Son who has built our church and our District.

God's Peace on your day.

[06/07/18]   Christ is Good and he shall reign forever and ever.
Christ is Glorious and he shall care for all people.
Christ is Lord and he forgives all sins.
Christ is Savior and he shall redeem you from the pit.

Turn away from sin
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and that God raised him from the dead and you will be saved!

[05/15/18]   You ever feel like you are floundering? Like there is nothing you are doing right? Like your life is missing something?
God has the answers, He sent His Son, Jesus, to forgive sins and to lead us to everlasting life. Let us pray to Him in our time of need.
3 Be gracious to me, O Lord,
for to you do I cry all the day.
4 Gladden the soul of your servant,
for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
listen to my plea for grace.
7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you,
for you answer me.
Psalm 86
Jesus will provide according to his good and gracious will brothers and sisters. May His peace be with you.

Father in heaven,
During this lenten season show us your Christ. Help us to put the focus on Him, give us the strength to see how he laid down his life so that we could be saved. Remind us through all of our doubts that he has indeed saved us from our sins, and that in Him we have everlasting life. Help us to come to you especially through the words of Romans 12 that teaches us to love even our enemies. Amen

Join us at Holy Cross as we do a series on Romans 12 on Wednesday evenings this lenten season.

O Lord,
Hear our prayer for our lives, may we reflect Your Glory, Goodness, and Grace
Hear our prayer for our families, may they never depart from their faith in You
Hear our prayer for our Nation, may it be filled with kindness for our neighbors
Hear our prayer for those whose worldview differs from our own, may we be brought together in peace, harmony and truth with them
Hear our prayer for our time, may we be faithful to the study of Your Word
Hear our prayer for your church, may all schisms be ended and concord be achieved in Christ
Hear our prayer for our doubt, we believe good Lord, help our unbelief
Hear our prayer for those who have fallen away from the faith, restore them to being Your children
Hear our prayer for the sick, may they be sustained according to Your good and gracious will
Hear our prayer for the lonely, may they turn their hearts to You in prayer and find relief from their affliction
Hear our prayer for those closest to us, may we turn our hearts away from our own selfishness and may You make them into new hearts of service
Hear our prayer for those who do not yet know You, may You inspire faith in their hearts
Hear our prayer for this day, may Your holy angel be with me that the evil foe may have no power over over me
Hear our prayer as you taught us to pray...

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. (Matthew 6:9-13)
