Hands down best quote of the night: Ruth, when asked to pray for the group- 'I'm not sure Jesus wants to talk to me.. I thought he was a chihuahua" 😂😂😂

When I was in college I had my own room in the dorms, but it was a tiny room connected to a larger common space with eight other tiny rooms for neighbors. It was called a suite...I think they called it that so they could charge more for it. One of my suitemates was a guy named Joe.
One day I was griping to Joe about how small the dorm rooms were. He was 30 years older than I was and had spent a big portion of his life being a carnival worker. He had some great stories, but in that moment when I was griping about the room size he said, "you know I spent a year living in Oregon in a blackberry bush with a guy named Blackfoot Sam. I don't really have any complaints about this room." I have always remembered that. It is usually all about perspective.
My wife loves the show house hunters. It cracks me up how the people on the show are like, “we just had a baby and with the new baby and our dog our 2500 square foot house is just so cramped we HAVE GOT to get some more space.
And then they will look at houses that I would crawl across glass just for the chance to live in and they are like, “Oh my gosh, this kitchen is a total gut job. Everything is so dated, we could not even step foot in this house until the whole kitchen is redone. And what is with this carpet, it is like 3 years old at least it all HAS to GO. We need hardwood throughout the house.”
The Sanders family has 8 people, 3 cats and 4 dogs living in a 1300 square foot house that was built when my parents were one year old.
Sometime in the 80's the previous owners put in carpet and central air and that was the last time they did any updates.
The couple back on house hunters will pick a house that is $50K over their budget and immediately jump in with a renovation and they will be smiling at each other at the end of the show and say things like "we are so happy that we have this house, we are working really hard on it and it is going to be our dream house for years to come."
A big part of perspective is knowing what to measure yourself against. In our times of social isolation, we turn to Facebook to see how everyone in the world is doing. And guess what, they are all doing fabulous! They are making cute and fun crafts with their kids, everyone is smiling and laughing. Social distancing is the greatest thing they have every done.
Then while you are reading Facebook, you are hit in the back of the head by a pair of children’s underwear that is flying through space. You turn around and ask yourself, what have I done wrong. Our family is killing each other being cooped up in this tiny little house. Every minute someone is fighting or crying and the dog ate the arm of the recliner. And so we start to think that there must be something wrong with our life because everyone else is doing so well. But it is all smoke and mirrors, and we are comparing ourselves against a bad measurement...we need a new perspective.
Proverb 14:30 says “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” During your time of staying safe at home, with all the ones you love, take time to let your heart be at peace. I have found that gratitude is one feeling that can do that. Instead of looking around at what is not going right in life, take time to thank God for everything that is. I know it is hard. Sometimes you have to really stretch to find that first thing. But once you do, add another, then another. The more gratitude you express the more peace that will fill your heart and the more life will come into your body. These are tough times; we could all use a little more life. But it starts with the proper perspective.

How the Virus Stole Easter
By Kristi Bothur
With a nod to Dr. Seuss 😊
Twas late in ‘19 when the virus began
Bringing chaos and fear to all people, each land.
People were sick, hospitals full,
Doctors overwhelmed, no one in school.
As winter gave way to the promise of spring,
The virus raged on, touching peasant and king.
People hid in their homes from the enemy unseen.
They YouTubed and Zoomed, social-distanced, and cleaned.
April approached and churches were closed.
“There won’t be an Easter,” the world supposed.
“There won’t be church services, and egg hunts are out.
No reason for new dresses when we can’t go about.”
Holy Week started, as bleak as the rest.
The world was focused on masks and on tests.
“Easter can’t happen this year,” it proclaimed.
“Online and at home, it just won’t be the same.”
Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the days came and went.
The virus pressed on; it just would not relent.
The world woke Sunday and nothing had changed.
The virus still menaced, the people, estranged.
“Pooh pooh to the saints,” the world was grumbling.
“They’re finding out now that no Easter is coming.
“They’re just waking up! We know just what they’ll do!
Their mouths will hang open a minute or two,
And then all the saints will all cry boo-hoo.
“That noise,” said the world, “will be something to hear.”
So it paused and the world put a hand to its ear.
And it did hear a sound coming through all the skies.
It started down low, then it started to rise.
But the sound wasn’t depressed.
Why, this sound was triumphant!
It couldn’t be so!
But it grew with abundance!
The world stared around, popping its eyes.
Then it shook! What it saw was a shocking surprise!
Every saint in every nation, the tall and the small,
Was celebrating Jesus in spite of it all!
It hadn’t stopped Easter from coming! It came!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!
And the world with its life quite stuck in quarantine
Stood puzzling and puzzling.
“Just how can it be?”
“It came without bonnets, it came without bunnies,
It came without egg hunts, cantatas, or money.”
Then the world thought of something it hadn’t before.
“Maybe Easter,” it thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe Easter, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
And what happened then?
Well....the story’s not done.
What will YOU do?
Will you share with that one
Or two or more people needing hope in this night?
Will you share the source of your life in this fight?
The churches are empty - but so is the tomb,
And Jesus is victor over death, doom, and gloom.
So this year at Easter, let this be our prayer,
As the virus still rages all around, everywhere.
May the world see hope when it looks at God’s people.
May the world see the church is not a building or steeple.
May the world find Faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection,
May the world find Joy in a time of dejection.
May 2020 be known as the year of survival,
But not only that -
Let it start a revival.
Prayers for St Luke's as they get ready for Maundy Thursday.
You ready??? Let’s go pray🙌🏻
Not sure what to pray?
The Lords Prayer is always a good idea❤️
Our Father, who art in
hallowed be thy Name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily
And forgive us our
as we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not into
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power,and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

Some of you have said that all there is to do right now is drive around, well what if driving around could be part of an Easter celebration?!
Are you tired of staying home?
Sick of the four walls and the TV, and wishing you could see your church family?
On EASTER SUNDAY, we’re putting wheels on the church! Between 4 and 5 pm, some of us will be in our cars driving by other members’ homes to wave, smile, and spread the joy of Easter!
Choose which category you are in:
1. Families or individuals who will drive by designated addresses of our members. You might want to make a sign or decorate your car in some way. Wave, smile, honk, and spread the love of God to those you see. You’ll be provided with a list of homes to drive by.
2. Those who choose to stay home or are restricted to staying at home. Give us your name and address, and we’ll come by your house between 4 and 5 pm. All you have to do is stand in your doorway, sit outside, or stay by your window so we can see you. We’ll stay in our cars and keep a safe distance!
Email Jan Reed and let her know which of the above categories you want to be a part of. We encourage LOTS of participation in both roles. If you are driving, you will be sent a list of addresses by email. Please contact at [email protected]
Deadline to sign up: Friday April 10.

Don't seem to find the rhythm, just wanna sing the blues...
Oh, hear my prayer tonight, I'm singing to the sky
Give me strength to raise my voice, let me testify..
The time has come to make a choice
And I choose JOY!
