Warmest wishes of joy and love to you and your loved ones on this beautiful festivities of Nativity. May, this new year, 2020 is loaded with blessings of, health, love, peace and accomplishments. Thank you, God. ❤️🐕🐩😇❤️
I began considering my vocation here at Saint John Vianney in 2001. Along my journey, I was met with such great men - I was guided by such good priests and formators. As the end of my first year came, I still was unsure if I was meant to undergo the sacrement of Holy Orders and heard the word of G-d on me guiding me to honour the vows as a seminarian, when the Lord took me to the woman who would later give me my two sons and I sat with the late Bishop Nevins who allowed me to continue my studies at Barry University. It was there that I truly was able to see that G-d had different plans for me, and I continued with Barry and with a sad heart, chose to leave seminary and become a different kind of father. I still wander in thought, enjoying the memories of sitting with Archbishop McCarthy and Monsignor Noonan, Father Vallee and Father Castillo and Father Jean and of course, my Spiritual Guide, Father Oscar Mendez and who could forget Miss Bonnie! The values and tradition I was bestowed at Saint John Vianney has carried me now, 20 years later, through many great times - many hard times. However, the integrity I developed here at Saint John has been my rock and salvation. Many thanks to the Archdiocese of Miami, the administration and staff for teaching me to become a better man in my time here. May G-d carry and love you all, and may the new and future seminarians truly find the peace and education that has built so many great young men. Always in Christ, MJ "Toby" Dean

i heard years ago, that St Johns displayed the former tender built for Franklin D Roosevelt, for the Presidential yacht. It was called the "Fiddlesticks", was about 36ft long, made of African Teakwood. Anyone have any knowledge?
Praying for you, brothers. Keep it up! #PopeFrancis to Youth: "A better world can be built also as a result of your efforts, your desire to change and your generosity. Do not be afraid to listen to the Spirit who proposes bold choices." #Synod2018 ❤️🙏
ST. FRANCIS XAVIER St. Francis Xavier (1506–1552) was born in his family castle in Navarre in what is today Spain. While studying in Paris he met St. Ignatius of Loyola and joined him in the foundation of the Society of Jesus. Instead of devoting himself to academic pursuits as he had planned, and in which he enjoyed great success, he became the first Jesuit missionary priest. His missionary activity began in Goa, India and extended across the Orient. St. Francis Xavier was known throughout the Far East for his humility, care of the poor, and miracles including healings, speaking in tongues, and prophetic powers. His passion for Christ and zeal for souls won him many converts to the faith. It is said that during his missionary journeys he baptized over 40,000 people. He is considered by many to be one of the Church's greatest missionaries since St. Paul the Apostle. In his travels he left behind flourishing churches that were the foundations of the Catholic Church in Asia. He is the patron saint of navigators, missionaries, African missions, India, Japan, China, and New Zealand. St. Francis Xavier's feast day is December 3rd. Deacon Carlos, thank you for everything you have done for the men, but especially during the past year of the pandemic. Celebration of the Holy Mass - Saturday of the Secund Week in Ordinary Time

JAN 23 2021 - Saturday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time

Today our seminary family mourns the loss of Deacon Carlos Garcia (shown here with his son, Fr. Michael Garcia, an alumnus of St. John Vianney and pastor of St. Coleman Catholic Church). Deacon Carlos was simply an amazing human being, a truly good man, a loving father, a devoted husband to his wife, a caring seminary formator and friend, a compassionate and hardworking minister, and a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Deacon, we are all blessed to have known you, to have worked with you, and to have journeyed with you on the path of ministry, serving, forming and educating God's future priests. We will miss you terribly, but we find consolation and peace in knowing that you who have so loved the Lord throughout your life, now rest in his embrace, and that we now have a powerful advocate and friend in His presence. Rest in peace, good deacon. Pray for us. Until we meet again in the Father's house. - Your loving family at St. John Vianney.

Today, January 11, 2021, St. John Vianney, the only freestanding bilingual college seminary in the United States, begins another exciting phase in its history as it becomes not just a College Seminary, but a full-fledged Graduate School of Philosophy and Theology, with the opening of its Online Master of Arts in Theology Program. More than 60 years ago, in 1959, St. John Vianney began its story as a high school seminary. In 1974, St. John Vianney Minor Seminary became St. John Vianney College Seminary, and in the 80's, it received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, thanks to the hard work of a number of its great professors. In 1982, a Pre-Theology Program was established. In the years that followed, more buildings were added, programs were created and the bilingual character of the seminary was firmly set. In 2019, St. John Vianney was accredited to begin offering a graduate degree in philosophy. It's been an amazing 3 1/2-year journey of hard work to get the Online MA programs running. But we had a lot of help from extremely dedicated and faith-filled professors and very good friends who believe in the mission of this gem of the Archdiocese of Miami. To all who continue to believe in our mission, thank you!

To all our friends, We would like everyone to know that all the seminarians are back after Christmas Break, and all have tested negative for Covid. {They were all tested on-site last Sunday with the assistance of friends from the Miami-Dade Fire Department, and we received the results soon afterwards.] The men are now all safe within the seminary's walls, to continue their formation for the Spring Semester. protected by St. Michael and the Blessed Mother. They are currently on their annual silent retreat till Friday. Thank you for all your prayers. [To everyone, we look forward to the time when we can have you visit us in person once more. But for now, the Archbishop has mandated that we secure the seminarians again within the safe "bubble" of the seminary. We are thus unable to have guests over. Know that we keep all of you in our prayers, and look forward to having you once again join us for our activities, most especially prayers and the Eucharist.]

Happy Anniversary, Bishop Parkes! Ad multos annos!

Happy Anniversary, Bishop Gregory L. Parkes! Please pray with us "Lord, You have chosen Your servant, Bishop Parkes, to be a guide for Your people. Give him a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. May he build Your Church as a sign of salvation for the world. Amen!" 🙏 #courageouslyliving

"A people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest... For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Is. 9:2-3,6) MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! We keep all of you and your families in our prayer, this Christmas and in the coming year.

General information

In priestly formation the challenge is to minister to young men discerning the ministerial priesthood in ways that will open them to the identity that will become theirs through sacred orders. It is a journey of deep and continued conversion to Christ. Formation must challenge them to be open to receive the wisdom that comes from above – and be transformed by it.
