Hello, I am reaching out to local pastors to join us so we can pray over our youth in the community and to pray over the Youth Center. We will be having a Worship Night Youth Center Benefit Concert on May 17 at 7:30 PM at New Community Church in Mesquite I would like for all the pastors to come together and pray. I would like for one of your pastors or pastor to join us.
This song makes me think of my Mesquite Church family and how terribly I miss all of you. You will never know how much!!!
Do you desire a more meaningful Holy Week? Here are a few suggestions: • The night before Palm Sunday weekend, decorate the mantle above your fireplace (or a shelf) to provide a visual focus of the Easter story. It includes an olive wood donkey, palm branches, a handmade wooden cross and a large rock with a hollowed-out center that resembles a tomb. • Attend Maundy Thursday service at Mesquite Church – 6:30pm, Thursday, March 29. • Fast on Good Friday. Every time your body reminds you that you have not eaten meditate on what Christ did for you and give him praise for the physical reminder. • Gather with friends on Good Friday evening and watch The Passion of The Christ. Break your fast afterward with communion. • On Easter weekend deliver homemade cards to your neighbors. The token of friendship and faith stands out because others rarely send Easter cards. ~ Blessings

"Fasting and Prayer Day -- Your Way"

As many of you may know by now, Baby Joshua was back in the hospital with complications. He has had a feeding tube inserted.

We will be spending time as a church body this Friday, October 21 and next Friday, October 28 to pray and fast for Baby Joshua. Please consider your own health and your doctor's counsel before doing this. We suggest: (1) Fast from one meal or more on the same day as others in our church body, (2) Refrain from (fast from ) Facebook or TV for one day, (3) Have a dedicated time of prayer at your home for Baby Joshua and the Rice family.
If you would like some guidance and/or wisdom on how to fast and pray, check out the following:

[04/29/18]   Dear Mesquite Church Family:

Over the past few months, I have felt God leading me to consider the possibility of a major change in my life. An abundance of prayer and the counsel of godly advisors reinforced this understanding. Last Sunday, April 22, 2018, I accepted an offer to become Pastor of Christ Community Church in Ocala, Florida, effective June 1.

Looking back, we celebrate how God has richly blessed our church over the past two and a half years:

• GROWTH: We have had 8 baptisms, and we have added 8 members, as well as several regular attenders. We have also hosted 2 weddings.

• HISPANIC MINISTRY: We’ve partnered with an Hispanic church that is reaching our Spanish-speaking community.

• CHILDREN’S MINISTRY: We’ve increased our capacity to reach young families by hiring a Director of Children’s Ministry and by creating a safe, clean, and attractive space in the fellowship hall where children feel at home.

• TECHNOLOGY: We’ve increased our capacity to reach young adults by creating an attractive website, developing a church app, designing a logo, and increasing our presence in social media. Our online sermons have been viewed over 7,000 times on YouTube alone. We’ve also modernized our audio-visual system to engage a younger, more visually-oriented demographic.

• INCOME: Church income has increased dramatically through the combination of denominational support, partnership with Oziel Martinez, online giving, grants, fundraising, re-engaged givers, new givers, and continued generous giving of legacy members.

• DEBT ELIMINATION: Together, we’ve eliminated nearly $175,000 in building debt.

• FACILITY ENHANCEMENT: Our facility has gone through substantial enhancements, including a new sign, new roof, safe and secure children’s area, creation of a cry room, security cameras, and padded chairs we can comfortably sit in.

With all that God has done, and is doing, saying goodbye is a very difficult undertaking. I believe God has great things in store for Mesquite Church! I regret that I will not be able to see in person, but we will pray for you. I also believe God has very exciting things in store for my family and me in Florida.

It has been my privilege to serve you and minister alongside you. Thank you for calling me to be your pastor and bearing with me as I have grown as a leader. God has blessed me tremendously through this time. My family and I will miss you very much. It would be my privilege to meet with you to say goodbye before I leave, so please don’t be a stranger! We love you and wish you all the very best.

Yours in Christ,

Nathan Rice

The Hidden Treasure and the Pearl: Matthew 13:44-46

The treasure and pearl parables tell of the joy of finding peace with God. There’s no other word to express it. Both stories involve people who very happily find the answer to their life’s hopes and dreams.

That’s what becoming a Christian is about: deepest needs met, deepest longings satisfied, deepest hurts bandaged, and a future and a hope unlike any other. It all adds up to joy!
If your faith is grim and your life bleak, let God put some of this wonderful happiness back where it should be. If you have not yet trusted in Jesus as your Lord, grab this precious pearl today.

-Bruce B. Barton, Life Application Bible Commentary

Christ is Risen!!!

As Easter approaches the events of this time in History goes through my mind. Perhaps as Jesus entered the city His cross was being hewed by craftsmen. Before His trial it was completed. How can this be?

The cross that Jesus bore was not His own. The cross was meant to be for Barabbas. Jesus was crucified on a borrowed cross not meant for him. As the sins of Barabbas were written on the cross they were covered by the body of Christ. He died as a substitute for Barabbas. And so, for mankind.

Hell could not hold Him. The sufferings and torture He suffered was a substitute for our sufferings because of our sins without Him.

The grave He was put in was also borrowed, for it could not hold Him forever. Christ died for our sins that they may be covered by Him. He rose that we too may rise with Him justified and join Him in Eternity.

The Prodigal Father, Luke 15:11-32

What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us… the gravest question before the Church is always God Himself, and the most portentous fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like. -A. W. Tozer

Failure to follow Jesus’ instructions regarding church discipline—either by neglect or by confronting with wrong motives or in the wrong manner—is one of the greatest sins of modern Christianity.

Why Support Church Leadership? 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15

We have seen in the past week the honor given to the memory of Billy Graham, and rightfully so. But if Billy Graham is the standard for what it takes to receive honor in the Church, we are all in big trouble!

What makes a church leader worthy of honor? Worth following?

What would the Church look like if we all fully supported our leaders? Would it be any different? If so, how?

1) Commit to speaking positively of leadership in your church.
2) Join us on March 11 to discuss ways we can meet our 2018 goals.

12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.13 Hold them in the ...

Why Should We Give to Church? Mark 12:41-44

What Does it Mean to Love One Another? 1 Peter 4:7-11

“True Christian hospitality is making people feel at home, when you wish they were at home.” - Donald Coggan

"Where love abounds in a fellowship of Christians, many small offences, and even some large ones, are readily overlooked and forgotten. But where love is lacking, every word is viewed with suspicion, every action is liable to misunderstanding, and conflicts abound—to Satan’s perverse delight." -Wayne Grudem

Why Should We Attend Church? Hebrews 10:23-25

Either: (1) Church is about us, our faith, our individual preferences and needs… OR (2) Church is an expression of God’s love in our hearts where we all encourage one another.

What does encouragement to love and good deeds look like?
(1) Take notice of others who are serving.
(2) Affirm their effort (be specific).
(3) Give helpful tips, encouragement to continue.

Can you imagine how joyous church would be if we all encouraged each other like this???

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and go...
