Nestled in the woods of south central Missouri, we are a women's monastery open to pilgrims and those interested in pursuing the monastic life.
The Presentation of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Monastery is dedicated to the Glory of God and the honoring of His Blessed Mother. Commemorating the Feast of the Presentation, we are taught that Saints Joachim and Anna brought their most precious treasure, their child, to the temple to dedicate her life to the Lord. At the same time, the Blessed Virgin Mary humbly gave her own life to God to serve Him in any way that she could. Inspired by her example, we as nuns give our lives to His service. The monastery was founded to be a spiritual resource for all who wish to visit, pray, attend services, and request prayers for themselves and their loved ones. We pray that Our Lord’s words "Love one another as I have loved you" (John 15:12) will always be the guide for our daily work, our interaction with each other, and our response to all who visit.
Mission: To pray for the world and the salvation of all therein. This is done with daily services, manual labor, hospitality, and regular private prayers, especially the "Jesus Prayer".

Christ is born! Glorify Him!
It is a joy to greet you during this holy season of Our Lord's Nativity and to share with you news of a change in our lives. As we increase in age, it is becoming ever more difficult to us to care for the chapel, house, and candle business which the Lord has graciously provided since we moved to Missouri in 2006.
With the very kind understanding of His Grace, Bishop Paul, we are now downsizing and moving our monastery to a site being provided for us by Holy Archangel Michael and All Angels Skete north of Kansas City, Missouri.
In this new setting we will be less than a mile from the central church for frequent liturgies during the week, and able to live a much quieter life where we can enter even more intensely into prayer for you and your loved ones.
We sincerely thank you for your kindness and understanding, and pray that Our Lord will ever bless you and grant you a joyous celebration of His Holy Nativity.
In Christ Our Lord,
Mother Sergia
Abbess
