A message from #LUC Parent Liaison Kim Baney:

Lucketts Community,

The families affected by the fire would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. At this time we are asking for people to please not drop off random items at Lucketts Elementary School for donation. We know its “spring cleaning time” but unwanted items would better serve the community by going to any of the wonderful donation centers in the area. You are welcome to contact Kim Baney at [email protected] if you have specific items to donate.

Limping to Jerusalem

We had a wonderful Christmas Carol Service in Faith Chapel yesterday -- here are a few pics! Many thanks to Jesse Colon, Chris Tribe, all of our scripture readers (who did a great job), as well as those who provided cookies & coffee. It was terrific to be together as a community and to see the chapel full after being closed for the past 3 years!

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the Lucketts community and your generosity in Sharing Holiday Joy 2018. You provided gift bags for 43 students at Lucketts Elementary School and "adopted" an additional 10 families. You will never know who got the gifts you bought and you will never see those packages opened, but, take my word for it, those kids were thrilled -- as were their parents. You did a wonderful thing and your generosity is greatly appreciated, by me, by the faculty and staff at the school and by the families you touched. Merry Christmas to you all you -- this is the true spirit of Christmas! Gary

We had a fun time on Sunday wrapping gifts for Sharing Holiday Joy -- thanks to all who came out to help!

We need some person-power to help with the Sharing Holiday Joy Party at the school on Monday, 12/17 from 7-8pm. Please let me know if you can help with set-up at 5pm, with games during the party or with clean-up afterwards. Thanks, Gary.

Today I am grateful for all the volunteers and donors who make the Lucketts Community Food Pantry possible. In particular, my thanks to all the volunteers who showed up on Friday (in the rain) and Saturday -- and a special thanks to Brossman's Farm Stand and to Loudoun Hunger Relief for all their support this month!!

This is a great program for teenagers we are launching with Christ Church Lucketts. We're holding an information meeting this Sunday at 6pm at the Village Green Clubhouse. Students and parents are invited to join us. If you have questions contact me or bring them with you on Sunday. See you there -- all are welcome!! Gary

While is looks like the brunt of Florence is going to be to our south, let me make this offer:

In the storm last Spring lots of folks in Lucketts lost power and internet service, but we did not. As this storm approaches, we can make Faith Chapel available to those who have lost power.

Let us know what your needs are.

Thanks to all those who are making the Lucketts Community Food Pantry a success. It's a simple thing, for those who have to share with those who are struggling to make ends meet, but it means so much -- on so many levels.

Lucketts Ruritan Club

The Lucketts Ruritan and Village Green have now collected 2809 lbs of non perishable food for the Lucketts Food Pantry. We still have a ways to go and we can do it with your help. The next Food Pantry distribution is 10-11 on August 11 at Faith Chapel Church. You can help by dropping off non perishable food at: Lucketts Elementary School on Saturday mornings between 8 and noon; Lucketts Community Center; front porch of the house at Faith Chapel Church or Village Green's community center.

[07/11/18]   We have the beginnings of a computer lab at The Porch. Through the generosity of Jonathan Staples and his daughter Mamuan we have 5 iMac computers -- and we have internet access through Sugarloaf Network Systems. Our vision is to establish a computer lab as part of a broader community/rec center for students, some of whom may not have computer access in their homes.

We need some technical help. If you have computer (Mac) skills and/or networking skills please contact Gary at 703-608-8616.

Friends this is going to be a fantastic asset to our community and will complement the Food Pantry already in operation. Please contact us if you want to help in any way. Gary

[06/29/18]   Here's a special "Thank You" to the good folks at Furnace Mountain Presbyterian Church for their cash donation to the Lucketts Community Food Pantry. The Pantry is a great community-wide effort and we very much appreciate the collaboration! Gary

Special this weekend!! We're doing ALL DESSERTS this Sunday!
So, eat dinner at home (or don't 😉) and come join us for free dessert. It's gonna be hot, so you know there'll be ice cream, but there'll be so much more -- including Vegan and Gluten-Free options. And we'll have games & activities for kids of all ages with HS/College students to help.
Let us know your favorite ice cream flavor by 12 midnight and we'll do our best to include it!!! See you Sunday, Gary.

If you're a creative woodworker or have a fireplace we've got some oak wood for you at Faith Chapel!
We still have two nice tree trunk pieces left, lots of kindling and (if you're more adventurous) the stump. It's getting hauled away on Monday, so come and get it over the weekend.
The tree fell during the windstorm. It didn't hit the building, but it demolished the old sign.

Thanks to Jim Snider we have high-speed internet at Faith Chapel on Lucketts Road that extends out into the parking lot (Sugarloaf Wifi). Feel free to stop by if you need to do something quick from your car; let me know if you have something more extensive to do and we'll make arrangements to get you inside.

We had a wonderful time at Sharing Holiday Joy last night at Lucketts Elementary School -- a great community event with terrific students and neighbors. We played games, shared some gifts and even had a visit by a jolly old elf. Our thanks to the many volunteers, gift wrappers, and contributors who made this a success, including: Christ Church Lucketts, Lucketts Elementary, Lucketts Elementary School PTA, and event coordinator Angela Tate -- not to mention the awesome chocolate cake donated by Roots 657!!
