A thought for any YOUTH WHO 'GOT IT RIGHT' on a summer mission trip or youth retreat: THE EASE OF DRIFTING Nothing is more soothing to the soul than the peace of knowing you have repented of your sins and have made things right with God. Those nights of wondering if you will go to Hell are gone. You can now lie down and pray to your God with assurance that He is listening to you. You have come to the realization that you are a sinner without Him, yet a saint with Him. The choice has been made, the wrongs have been righted, and all is good. One week later, oh the struggle. You have changed, but your friends haven't .....even the ones who said they had. They say words they shouldn't, and listen to music that is far from Christ-honoring.....the kind you have to turn off when your pastor or parent is around. You feel like somewhat of an alien, wondering why the peace you felt a week ago is turning to sorrow. Sorrow that your friends didn't really get it, sorrow that they will distance themselves from you if you call them out, sorrow that you have this huge choice to make. You chose Christ, and now you have to choose to continue to choose Him.....daily. "Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard lest we drift away". This warning, found in Hebrews 2:1, assures us that we will drift away from the Gospel if we don't stay focused on it. We will drift away from God if we don't keep Him in the number one place in our life. Friendships, especially for young Christians, are a huge cause of drifting. It's so important to be in the in crowd, and being unaccepted is unacceptable, so compromise becomes a must. Compromise is the hand that slowly looses the rope that keeps us secured to the Father. As the rope is loosed, the drifting has begun. The more you compromise, the farther you drift, and then you realize one day that the Father is out of sight....you have drifted beyond that peace you once felt. You are surrounded by friends, and acceptance, but the rope is gone....and your attachment to the Father is gone. You have traded the Gospel for a ride with Compromise. My advice to new believers, young believers, and those who have made things right with God is don't compromise what your heart condemns. One compromise leads to two, and two leads to many. If you find yourself mulling over in your mind whether something is right or wrong, there's a very good chance it's wrong. If you want to keep that peace in your soul, stay devoted to what you heard from Gods word that made you realize you needed Him. I encourage you each to read Romans 1:18-32. When you continually walk away from what you know is right, God can and will turn you over to yourself and let you drown in your sin. Don't give Him a reason to! Stay true to the One who pierced your heart that day when you decided you needed Him. Make your commitment real, not just a temporary emotional vapor that fades away. Don't drift away from the Truth in a vessel called Compromise.

This is who we are! The best is yet to come!

Reminder! Refuge will be LIVE on Facebook and Instagram tomorrow night!

The Refuge is moving to online this Wednesday! Let’s stay ENGAGED with Jesus and each other!

This week we will worship and dive into God’s Word in Week 2 of our series: Radical Love!

We will ask the question: What is the Church known for? According to news and online media, the Church is frequently criticized for being judgmental and without love. It’s heart breaking. We must refuse to become known better for screaming at people than serving people. In this message, we will look at Luke 10:25-37 and examine our call to love like Jesus and live like Jesus. See you right here, this Wednesday at 6pm!

February is a month all about LOVE! Next Wednesday, Feb 10 join us in the Refuge at 6pm as we start a new series: Radical Love!

The love of Jesus is radical. He pushes past personality types, personal opinions, and even prejudice. Jesus loves people that culture turns their backs on. Jesus loves them. Jesus died for them. Jesus pursues them.

You have never laid eyes on a person that Jesus didn’t love. In this series, we will study three stories that display the radical love of Jesus, and learn how to apply the same lens of love to our own lives!
