A gift to my daughter celebrating her many years at URJ Camp Harlam

Nice not bad for a bar/bat mizva gift... a brand new sea turtle🐢
😇😇
Yesterday, my kids became b'nai mitzvah. It was supposed to happen at Camp Harlam, but Covid prevented that. In lieu of gifts, they decided to fundraise to help camp at this challenging time.

They raised more than we thought they would. The drive ends AUGUST 31. You probably don't know Eitan & Yael, but you know their love of Harlam.

Please consider making a gift to honor camp (which is matched dollar for dollar by our Federation's One Happy Camper scholarship program). We're trying to get to 10,000! Check out their fundraising video and click the link below to donate.

My kids were supposed to be having their b'nai mitzvah at Harlam in two weeks (2nd generation campers, where better?!?). Since we can't be there, they are raising money to help make sure camp will have the funds it needs to keep going in the future.

Random post but it has been driving me crazy - Anyone have a list of colorwar themes from 1985-1991? I have a few gaps that I need filled and my yearbooks are long missing.

Thanks much!
An amazing night! Great win Team Blue Ursula!!
You can donate right now ---If you donate for Bubbio (that's me - Rosanne Selfon), I can come in the show and help! Follow Lisa's and Judith's directions to donate.

You could open your e-store as a way of boosting your donations. I’d buy an item at twice the price if I knew the extra $$ was going to camp 🙂

"But these excited, hopeful, teary eyed faces do look familiar. They’re all dressed similarly, have the same look of ‘I’m finally Home’ in their eyes and their parents look as grateful as ever to be touching ground at Camp Harlam.

Maybe this isn’t Act II. Maybe this is a 2nd performance of act I! I LIKE THIS! This means that I, as the Arts Supervisor, get to make every camper feel as if it’s their first day of camp and that is more exciting than tying up all the loose ends and seeing what happens at the end of the 3 hour musical."- Rena

Campers and the Corn - URJ Camp Harlam 07/26/2021

Campers and the Corn - URJ Camp Harlam

Our Junior and Senior Camp Supervisors, Sam Blum and Hannah Lafargue shared theses thoughts during services on Friday night,

"When we arrived at camp about a month and a half ago, there wasn’t much of anything in that field. But if you look now, there is a strong and beautiful crop. This seems somewhat unremarkable, but to watch something so green and imposing spring up from nothing is really quite striking.

On the Leadership Team, we spend a lot of time in and around the office. We look at that field quite a bit. We never see anybody tending to that field, watering the corn, whispering words of affirmation into the corn’s ears. Corn has ears, you know!"

To read the rest of their reading, please click on the blog below.

Campers and the Corn - URJ Camp Harlam Next summer, there will be new corn in the field. But our Harlam community will have returned, wiser and stranger and stronger than we were before, ready to grow and grow and keep growing. To boldly grow where no person has grown before.

Be Yourself. Try New Things. - URJ Camp Harlam

Lisa David, Director of Camp Harlam, welcomed home our Second Session campers and staff during services on Friday evening. Below are her remarks.

Be Yourself. Try New Things. - URJ Camp Harlam The summer of 2021 presents us with an opportunity. A clean slate. Perhaps some of us have an increased awareness or appreciation of what lies ahead because we missed it so deeply last summer. But whether it’s your first or fifth or tenth summer here, I hope each of you can live each day here with...

The first Shabbat of 2nd Session was incredibly beautiful. Our department leadership lead Friday night services, followed by Arava leading Saturday morning. During the Torah reading, our campers who became a Bar or Bat Mitzvah over the past year were honored with their own aliyah (blessing before reading the Torah).

She is witty, intelligent and truly a loyal friend. She is humorous beyond her years. Whether she is making people laugh or making people feel loved, she spends her days at Harlam bringing joy to her fellow campers and the staff as well. K'Far is lucky to have Sasha as a part of their unit!"

Chapel on the Hill Dedication: 2021

Harlam Summer 2021 is in full swing, and camp is joyfully buzzing with activity as campers and staff live and play in their summer home!

We are grateful for the support of so many donors and friends who helped us renovate and update one of the most iconic locations at Harlam – the Rosa B. Eisendrath Chapel on the Hill.

During a Shabbat service earlier this summer – after our campers walked in white up the hill to return to our sacred space, looking out over camp – Director Lisa David took a quiet moment to share, reflect on, honor, and re-dedicate Chapel on the Hill.

We wanted to share this special video of the dedication ceremony that includes Lisa’s beautiful words and thoughts.

Summer of Firsts - URJ Camp Harlam

Casey Quinto, the Carmel Unit Head, shares what is like to see camp through her camper’s eyes as they experience camp for the very 1st time.

Summer of Firsts - URJ Camp Harlam This was a summer of firsts for Carmel. First time at camp, first time away from home, first ever insect night, first Maccabiah, and my first summer as the Carmel unit head. Being in Carmel with all new campers, has reminded me how special this place is to me and how it has shaped who I am.
