Good Morning CBF, I do apologize the problem with the broadcast this morning. I think I either placed the wrong time and it cut it off. Or the internet at the church had an error.

CBF Church as stated we will adhere to the government's directions when it comes to gatherings. We will not be that misguided church (read about one in China) that thinks you can evoke the name of Jesus and suddenly you can't get sick (they had an additional 100 infections who went out to infect others). Many of you are healthy but spend time with those over 65 or under 12, and/or those with current health issues. DON'T PUT THEM AT RISK!! Stay home. We will figure out how to broadcast Bible Study and Sunday Sermons even it means I'm there alone shooting live all by myself. If you are a member and would like to give to the church download the Givelify app from the app store on your phone or go to the link below. As I've always said, should we come to a point where we are not financially solvent, that's God's way of telling us ministry is done. No worries we are doing just fine. I'll be speaking with leadership to make adjustments, consider our next steps going forward. Stay in and be careful. Here's the link:
The fifteen year anniversary picnic was so much fun, lots of food and mostly very loving. Thank you David for being so focused on helping me with my hubby, Kevin thank you for the invitation, and all the members who put this spectacular event together I thank you for your hard work and very good food. We have yet to go to a picnic that has brisket, fresh fruit and desserts. WOW you raise the bar I'll be suggesting this for future events.(just kidding, sort of) It was good to see everyone and their growing families. Thank you, thank you, thank you, take care and stay prayerful, faithful, and focused on Him...have the BEST day that you can!!!
CBF Church Bible Study is officially moved to tomorrow night same time. Choir practice wait on text from David and or Tanya.😀
Good evening! My name is Cassius and I am reaching out to possibly schedule a worship night with my band GraceCallin’ and Marco Neaves this summer on a Saturday or Sunday night. We have done youth services and churches all in between. We want to share hope through our music and messages that point to a bigger hope. Also, please check out GraceCallin’ on social media. Attached below is a sample of our single Send Me. I look forward to hearing from you soon and possibly scheduling a date for us to bless your church!
This Sunday will be the beginning of a sermon or two on giving. I only do these once a year at the request of leadership. If you've ever been to a service you notice an absence of begging for money or any encouragement of giving. No tithing talk. Nothing, no fundraising. These sermons will explain why. If you want a perspective you may not be used to, come out or watch us live. Community Bible Fellowship Church is located at 615 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving TX. Service starts at 9:30 and we'll have you out by 11... ish. Visitors, leave your money in the car if you like we won't ask you to give.
Pastor's Pleasure... This Sunday emmediately following service we will have a business meeting. Emmediately following the business meeting we will have a Cowboy's Watch Party! We'll work out food and drinks over the next couple of days.

Evangelism with a sincere objective to bring spiritual growth to all.

Eph. 2:1 – 10 Believe Grow & Live From Death to Life

How’s life treating you? Have you considered your abundant life in Christ? Things not going like you like them. Did someone tell you that God would make a way out of no way? Or perhaps, He calls those things which be not as though they were? Want the truth? We found out the abundant life is spiritual and has to do with eternal life. Now we will find out that salvation is being saved from death, not bad times.
Ephesians – A letter about 3 verbs, sitting, walking, and standing…
1. We Were Dead VS 1 (in trespasses and sins)
Trespass – the evidence of our sin Sin – missing the mark of God
Isa. 43:7; Matt. 5:16, 1 Cor. 10:31; Rom. 5:23, 6:23

2. Life Before Salvation VS 2 – 3 (when we lived according to the devil in selfishness)
a. Worldly, b. self glorification, c. self gratification, d. in danger of judgment

3. How We Were Saved VS 4 – 6 (all a work of God, we can claim no glory)
VS 6 – See 1:3 for what’s in heavenly places

4. Saved to Glorify Him in His Grace VS 7 – 9

5. Show His Glory by Works VS 10
Compare with Matt. 5:16

John 10:7 – 10 Believe, Grow, & LiveThe Abundant Life

The abundant life promise of Jesus in John 10:10 is absolute. There is no variance of this life for one person or another, no levels, no getting more of it, and no secrets. What is abundantly clear is a misunderstanding of what it is, and why it’s such a great promise. Today we will define the abundant life by understanding the context of Jesus’s words and how we get it. Background: All of John 10:1-18 hangs together as a single discourse, split up into three connected shepherd parables, the entire shepherd discourse is a direct response to the Pharisees’ mistreatment of one of Jesus’ sheep, the blind man (John 9). Jesus goes directly from condemning the Pharisees in John 9:39-40 to a set of parables that contrasted his own leadership with that of the Pharisees. A. The Abundant Life Comes From Jesus Not Man VS 7 – 8 1. The “door of the sheep” is in reference to the door keeper of the public sheep pens that held multiple sheep where the door keeper would allow the shepherds in after keeping the sheep through the night. Or, out on the country side in good weather the shepherd would build a small wall around the sheep of rocks with one opening that he would lay across as the door. 2. “All who ever came before Me” – acting as the door (or a door) thieves and robbers. B. The Abundant Life Can Only Be Enjoyed In Jesus VS 9 1. As “the door” – Jesus is the only way to be saved. 2. Salvation is pictured from the sheep’s point of view a. they can go in and out b. and find pasture C. The Abundant Life VS 10 1. Jesus here compares and contrasts Himself against the thief (who’s identity is found in verse 8) Note: No one ever identified the thief as the devil until the mid-1800s based on an error by Thomas Aquinas in commenting on another scholars work. 2. The Thief’s purpose – Steal, Kill, and Destroy (via false teaching) 3. Jesus purpose – go give life and to give it exceeding expectations

Col. 4:12 – 14 What Makes Jesus So Important Portrait of a Prayer Warrior

Paul now shifts his attention from his Jewish partners in ministry to his gentile partnerships. He tells us of Epaphras who is mentioned as the founder and most likely pastor of the Church at Colossae, Laodicea, and Hierapolis. We will find that not only is he a giant in spirit but a true prayer warrior and his prayer life will indicate what a true prayer warrior prays for… Epaphras: The founder of the church – Chpt. 1:3 – 8 Mentioned only 3 times in Scripture he is a Spiritual Giant. Paul called himself, Timothy, and only Epaphras as a “faithful minister of Christ”. 1. Faithful preaching. ➢ Paul says that the Colossians heard ‘the word of truth, the gospel’ (Col 1.5) ➢ and that they ‘understood the grace of God in truth’ (Col 1.6). ➢ How did they come to know these things? Col 1.7: ‘…you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant.’ 2. Frequent pains. ➢ Epaphras poured himself out for the sake of Christ’s people. Col 4.13 literally says, ‘He has much toil on your behalf and on behalf of those in Laodicea and Hierapolis.’ 3. Always laboring fervently for you in prayers: ➢ Prayer is hard work, and Epaphras worked diligently at it, especially knowing the danger of the false teaching in Colossae. ➢ “always laboring fervently for you in prayers” laboring/ working = ἀγωνίζομαι (ahgo – neez – ahmy) present tense… to do battle with an adversary, hand to hand combat… So, Epaphras prayed that the Colossian Christians would: stand perfect – Metaphorically to stand ready, stand firm, be steadfast (contextually to be prepared to make a stand); complete in an ethical sense with mental and moral character (contextually completely able to keep their ethical mental and moral character in the face of false teaching): Three areas of attack – 1. Not Philosophy But Christ Persuasive Words are Deceptive (Chpt. 2:4, 8) 2. Not Legalism But Christ Using rules and regulations to determine salvation a form of religious control. (Chpt. 2:13 – 17) 3. Not Carnality But Christ Appealing to our old fleshly nature as a “loop hole” for carnality. (Chpt. 3:1 – 7) And complete in the will of God – placing the emphasis back on God’s will found in Christ and not man’s will masked as God’s.

Col. 4:10 – 11 Why Jesus is So Important Ministry Partners Be

Are there any solo acts in the Bible? Adam, Joseph, Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah? Who went into ministry alone? Are you of the opinion that if it’s going to be done right you have to do it? Ministry doesn’t work that way as exemplified in Paul’s list of companions. A Posse – when a group of people come together with a purpose and strive to fulfill it. The Jewish Contingent VS 10: Identification of two members of Paul’s posse and their uniqueness and fit for his ministry. Aristarchus – The Ride or Die Companion (he habitually seemed to be with Paul when trouble came) 1. You need that person willing to get into “good trouble” (Congressman John Lewis) 2. You need that person who is consistent in spite of circumstance. Mark – The Special Gifts Companion (He had some firsthand knowledge that was invaluable to Paul’s ministry) 1. Mark was the subject of disagreement between Paul and Barnabas because he left in the middle of the ministry to go back to Jerusalem. 2. Mark was converted by Peter and his gospel is actually Peter’s rendition of what took place but written by Mark for a gentile audience. Jesus called Justice – (Not much is said but we know he preached the word!) Like the others he is: 1. Jewish – of the circumcision 2. Fellow workers – Preachers of the gospel 3. Comfort to Paul – visiting with him, conferring with him, praying for him, communicating with him, laboring in the preaching, while he was afflicted You can’t do this by yourself… Sunday July 4, 2021CBF ChurchKevin Harris, M.A.B.S.

Col 4:9 What Makes Jesus So ImportantThe Second Chance Man

We pick up another of Paul’s sons in the ministry and trusted fellow servant, Onesimus. His is the story of the second chance we have in Christ. And that second chance is continuance we will discover. Everyday is treated as a “second chance” because you never lost it. Back ground on Onesimus: Phil. 110 I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains, 11 who once was unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me. 112 I am sending him [g]back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own [h]heart, 13 whom I wished to keep with me, that on your behalf he might minister to me in my chains for the gospel. 14 But without your consent I wanted to do nothing, that your good deed might not be by compulsion, as it were, but voluntary. NKJV From Criminal to Ministry “9 with Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother,” Compare: 7 Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord “with” – indicates he was in ministry with Tychicus (equal to Paul as a fellow servant) - dependable (faithful) - he is loved From Slave to Brother who is one of you. “is” verb “to be” Present Tense “is and will always be” (advantage) We were slaves to sin, now slaves to Christ “slave of Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:1) “slave of God” (Titus 1:1). “James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ” (James 1:1). From Surviving to Purpose “They will make known to you all things which are happening here.” He stole from Philemon Phil118 But if he has wronged you or owes anything, put that on my account. His would be a testimony of conversion under Paul - criminal facing death to Christian facing eternal life Many of us are trying to survive. We spend life trying to survive from one event to the next. Ministry gives us purpose. Purpose gives us perspective. Have you taken your second chance?

Col. 3:21 A Father’s Day SermonThe Non-Provoking Dad

Fatherhood, a misunderstood concept in America society where we have an abundance of absentee fathers. They are either not in the home and have little to no contact with their kids, or they are in the home but don’t have time for them. When they are engaged it’s never a time for love, growth, and preparing for life. They find it a burden. This is the “Provoking Dad” who’s kids spend their lives trying to adjust from poor parenting. I. Provocation of Children - ἐρεθίζετε (to stir up, provoke to anger) present tense (continuous action), an imperative (a command) 6 Reasons ways to provoke your child (not an exhaustive list): 1. Neglecting Time with Your Children (Deuteronomy 6:7–8) Excuses: I work, I need time to wind down, I’m tired (all that leads to jail) Do these: Eat with them. Play with them. One on one time. Talk about God. Make memories. 2. Disciplining Your Children Out of Anger (Psalms 38:1) (Eph 4:29) Results: I cuss them out. I beat them. I slap them around. I yell. I do mean things. Do these: Discipline quickly (Prov. 1324 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.) Calm down if you need to. Take a day to think. 3. Finding Fault with Your Children Constantly (Job 32:3) (Matt. 7:1-5) Results: Treat them like you are the police “anything you say”, bring up things for no real reason, nit picking everything, criticizing before any event Do this: Find them doing things right and celebrate/ encourage them. 4. No Discipline (Proverbs 29:15) (Galatians 4:1–2) Looks like: Give them a video, games, anything to keep them away, ignore them Do this: Discipline them don’t leave it to others. 5. Demanding Too Much from Your Children (1 Corinthians 13:11) (Prov. 22:6) Issue:Disregard reality, think they are you, ignore their bend Do this: Study them for who they are and work with that. 6. Comparing Your Children to Others (2 Corinthians 10:12) Why can’t you be like ________. So and so doesn’t act like this. Do this: Dare to be different, celebrate uniqueness, find the good encourage. Otherwise: You end up with a discouraged child, who becomes a bitter, mean, can’t see God individual who’s like becomes a train wreck. And this is the person you’ve given to someone to marry and will be a parent to your grandchildren.

Col. 4:7 – 8 What Makes Jesus So Important Portrait of a Real Minister

In this section Paul gives some final greetings that, if one is not careful, might miss some ministerial
principles. Most of us get lost when it comes to the word ministry, not from understanding there is
something to do, but missing the importance of doing something that helps. We all can’t be Paul, but we
all can be just as important.
Tychicus (Tich-i-cus) a companion of Paul’s who delivered the letters to the Ephesians and Colossae,
sent to Crete and relieved Titus temporarily as bishop, traveled wit Paul on his 3rd missionary journey
and was give a great deal of responsibility by Paul.

HIS CHARACTER
1) He was loved
2) He was dependable (faithful)
3) He was as important as Paul (fellow servant in the Lord)

HIS ASSIGNMENT
a. To inform
b. To listen
c. To instruct and comfort

Reflection: Could Tychicus have known the impact his delivering of letters and ministry would have on
the people of that day and us today? Do you know you’re impact? You can’t. You can only serve.

Col. 4:5 – 6 What Makes Jesus So Important Prayer In Action

The previous verses and lesson dealt with proper prayer. This is part two, proper prayer in action. Prayer without action is like faith without works. It’s dead. The context of the previous prayer ended with a direct appeal to God for Paul and other’s opportunity to present “the mystery of Christ”. We will see that we should act upon prayer as a natural reaction to our prayer. The key to these two verses are the words, “redeeming the time”. – means to purchase or buy all opportunity. Don’t waste your time. See: Matt. 6:19 - 21 Three Ways to Redeem the Time:

1) Walk in Wisdom Walk – manor of life our how one behaves Wisdom – The ability or skill in making right decisions

2) Speak with Grace and Saltiness Grace – unmerited favor Saltiness – to take away bitterness or add to something bland

3) Deal with Individuals A group of people may carry characteristics that are not in every member. This creates prejudice and discrimination in evangelism.

Col. 4:2 – 3 What Makes Jesus So Important Praying Properly

As we come toward the end of Paul’s letter to the Colossians and Laodiceans the Apostle moves to some simple, but profound instructions on praying. Simple in the brevity with which he speaks, profound in the quality of what he is saying. It must be understood in the context of the false teaching confronting the Colossians to gain application for us today.
Context: Paul is still writing within the confines of false teachers and their impending impact on the Colossian church. We need to examine the five characteristics of false teachers:
1. False Teachers Are Identified by Their False Doctrine (Jesus’s deity)
2. False Teachers Are Identified by Their Attitude—One of Pride
3. False Teachers Are Identified by Their Propensity towards Controversy and Discord
4. False Teachers Are Identified by Their Apostasy from the Faith
5. False Teachers Are Identified by Their Motive—Profit
Why are we able to pray in the first place? John 9:31 (God hears the saved only)
The Proper Way
1) To be earnest –

2) To be vigilant (awake)

3) With thanksgiving (an attitude, not something said)

Intercessory
Take note, Paul didn’t ask for prayer for his personal needs even though he was in prison.
1) God would open a door for the word (compared w/ Eph. 6:19 Paul wanted the power to speak God’s word) – this is about opportunity to speak it.

2) Paul wants to speak the mystery of Christ – Col. 1:24 – 29 is where we find what the mystery is and it is a refuting of the false teaching concerning Christ and the mystery of His indwelling presence in the believer.

3) To make the mystery manifest (clearly evident)
