Family Meeting on Zoom
Tonight at 6 p.m. CDT

Join us for a time of reflection to honor and remember our beloved deacon.

Our church family was truly blessed by the life of Deacon Angel Vanterpool, and his spirit of servanthood was a driving force at East Sunnyside. He cared deeply for his family, church, and community, and he was a wonderful example of faithfulness and dedication to God. Deacon Vanterpool wore many hats over the years, and he was always willing to lend a hand or raise an offering (smile) when there was a need. His fun-loving nature and outgoing personality brought smiles and joy to many.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Minister Amy Vanterpool, their children, and the Vanterpool, Greene, and Stanford families. May they find refuge in the God of all comfort and gain the strength needed for the journey ahead. Although we are in a season of social distancing, we can help carry their burden by flooding heaven with prayers for them.

Deacon Vanterpool left an indelible mark on our church, and his legacy will live on through all of the hearts he touched. A life dedicated to Christ is a life well lived, and Deacon Vanterpool definitely lived and served well.

Family Meeting on Zoom
Sunday, July 5, 2020
6 p.m. CDT

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

Even though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time God allowed us with Deacon Vanterpool. We have so many good times to treasure from our experiences with him. As we grieve his passing, we invite you to join us for a "Family Meeting" on Sunday at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This will be a time of reflection to honor and remember our beloved deacon. Let's come together and encourage one another.

A Message from Bishop Daryl Clark:

I had not been able to address the issue of the senseless killing of George Floyd, or any other acts of racism and violence until now. I confess to you that my heart was so torn. I was angry and sad. While my prayers are with the Floyd family for their loss, I am also praying that this racially charged climate will calm down. I am sick of losing our African American men to people who feel some sense of superiority over black and brown people. This must stop. I fully understand the frustration, and why we must protest—we have to make our voices HEARD. But I am not in favor of all the violence, looting, and unnecessary destruction of our own neighborhoods. I realize that much of the destruction is from people who have no stake in the area—people coming in to do wickedness. But I do not want to see our young people who are rightfully protesting hurt or arrested. And let me also say that there are good people from all races and colors whom I love and hold dear. I will not promote hatred and bigotry of any kind—but my people are the ones who are being demoralized, hunted, and executed like dogs on the street—and this has to stop. It’s not just a racial issue—it’s a sin issue, and people are sick with sin.

Saints, our land is sick. Our children and our people are at risk of becoming endangered because the devil wants to kill our men—our seed bearers. And sadly, the house of God, the Word of God, and the presence of God is no longer a priority for many people in this country today. But Isaiah prescribed to us a cure for our sin-sick land. He said, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and PRAY and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, THEN—I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Members and friends, please join me this Saturday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m. Saints, let’s pray. We have set up a Zoom meeting via our church website, and I need you to join in, call in, and tell others about it. It’s praying time for men, women, children—everyone—LET’S PRAY. And right after prayer, our ladies will remain on the line for an important SESI meeting. Yes, we must vote, and we have the right to protest and hold picket signs. We can get on social media and rant to whomever would listen and respond, but the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. They are mighty, and we can pull down strongholds through prayer. What can we do about our situation? We can come together and pray. I will see you this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. It's praying time.

[05/31/20]   God wants to use you. Are you allowing Him to fill your cup?
