[04/14/14]   Next YOUT Meeting will be Sunday, April 27 from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

Due to the use of our church facilities for a memorial service that same afternoon, we have opted to take advantage of the improving weather and go on a nature hike. Our gratious volunteer guide Donald will be leading us on a 1.8-mile nature trail off of Seneca Road, pointing out historical points along the way. If you would like to join us in learning a bit about our history as well as enjoying God's creation, please be sure to fill out the parental permission form and the conduct covenant form and return it to either Pastor Bill or the church office no later than Thursday, April 24 at 4:30 PM. Copies of both forms are available on the D.U.M.Y. bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to know more about our youth meeting on April 27, including what you'll need to bring, what the lunch plan for that day is, and what our contingency plan is in case of inclement weather, please contact Theresa Arnold at [email protected].

JamBrew 2013

Looking for an opportunity to serve our community? The Closet is calling for volunteers to help out with the Herndon Hospitality Association's JamBrew Music Festival, an event that promotes local musical talent and offers free concerts under the stars (with food, wine, and beer available for sale). The event starts August 30 and continues every Friday night through September, with Saturday, September 28, as a rain date. The duties for volunteers include:

- Checking ID's (for beer and wine sales),
- Pouring or selling beer,
- Selling pizza,
- Marshaling at the gates, and
- Checking that nobody brings in or takes out alcohol.

These are very light duties, and the crowd is very family-friendly! The available shifts are from 4:30-7:30 PM and 7:30-10:30 PM each night of the festival, including the rain date (if needed). If you're interested in volunteering for one of these shifts, please contact Connie Hutchinson at [email protected] or 703-674-0589.

[08/27/13]   HELP NEEDED: We need at least two more volunteers to help run sound at the contemporary service once per month, both for the Sunday service and for the Thursday night rehearsal. No experience or prior expertise is necessary--just a willingness to serve and a desire to help DUMC provide quality worship to all of its congregation. Training will be provided on how to set up and manage the sound board. If interested, please contact Theresa Arnold at [email protected].

[08/26/13]   IMPORTANT: to avoid any breaches of confidentiality when asking for prayers, please consider before posting a prayer request here that pages are public by default. Everything posted on this page can be seen by anyone on the Internet--including non-Facebook members. However, you can also share prayer requests with us privately using the "Message" button on our page, and we'll make sure it goes to our prayer chain. Thank you!

[08/22/13]   Reminder: This Sunday is our bimonthly Even 4 Others event! This is the weekend to bring your bags of food and toiletry donations to the church to benefit all who are served by the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM). Please drop them off in the front hallway anytime before the 11:15 service. If you're not sure what donations they can and can't use, or if you'd also like to help load the bags into the car, please contact Susan Gray at [email protected] for details. Thank you all!

Stop Hunger Now

Don't forget: there will only be one service this Sunday! We'll have a traditional service at 9:00 AM, followed by our Stop Hunger Now event--packing 20,000 meals in two hours. After our meal-packing event is completed, we'll enjoy lunch and fellowship together, with food provided by one of our Sunday school classes.

If you are planning on joining us but haven't signed up yet, please give Debbie Harris a call at (703) 430-3137 to let her know that you're coming. That way, we'll have enough food to feed everybody at lunch!
